Re: Barca Pre-season "2011-2012"
Barça’s pre-season rivals: Hajduk Split (I)
From this Monday we will run a series of pieces examining the rivals Barça are due to face in this summer’s pre-season friendlies. Today we begin with Hajduk Split, who Guardiola’s team will face on July 23rd at 20.30.
Hajduk Split will be Barça’s first opponents this summer as the European Champions take part in the Croatian team’s centenary celebrations. Hadjuk finished second behind Dynamo Zagreb in the Croatian League last season and will have their big new signing, the Bulgarian coach Krassimir Balakov –ex teammate of Hristo Stoichkov – in charge for the match.
The second spot in the league means that Hadjuk will be in the Europa League next season - a competition they will join in the third round alongside teams such as Atletico Madrid – and if they progress they will be into the Group stages.
Striker Ante Vukusic, with 14 goals, was the team’s leading league scorer and was only beaten by Dynamo’s Krstanovic with 19 in last season’s competition.
Ex Barça player Goran Vucevic was coach at the club for a large slice of last season. He left Hadjuk in 1992 to sign for Barça, but he struggled at the Club and was transferred to Porto as part of the deal which brought Victor Baia to the Camp Nou.
The game will be staged at the Poljud Stadion in Split, which was built in 1979 and is situated a few miles out of the centre with an all-seater capacity of 35,000. The stadium was a considerable architectural landmark and was constructed the main stadium of the 1979 Mediterranean Games.
As well as the football pitch, the stadium has an eight lane athletics track, as well as a number of other sporting installations. For this first game of the pre-season, Guardiola will only be without his South American players - Messi, Mascherano, Milito, Dani Alves and Adriano, who have been involved in the Copa America.

Re: Barca Pre-season "2011-2012"
The Gamper, August 22nd
FC Barcelona already has a date set for the Joan Gamper, and for the official presentation of the 2011/12 team: Monday, August 22nd.
The secretary and spokesman of the Board, Toni Freixa, confirmed the date of August 22nd to contest the 46th edition of Barça’s annual trophy. As usual, this day will also be used for the presentation of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the 2011/12 season.
Waiting to know the opposition
Barça has yet to confirm the team who they will play against. It’s worth remembering that in recent editions Barça have come up against AC Milan (2010), Manchester City (2009), Boca Juniors (2008), Inter Milan (2007) and Bayern Munich (2006).
The same week as the Super Cup in Monaco
The match will be played in the same week as the European Super Cup, but with enough time to prepare for the game against Oporto (August 26th), which takes place in Monaco.
Also the day for the Supporters Clubs congress and get together
As well as the Gamper, on August 22nd the World FC Barcelona Supporters Cub Congress will be held, that this year, following the one in San Sebastian, will be taken over by the Club itself.

Re: Barca Pre-season "2011-2012"
A week until training restarts
There is just a week to go before the typical images of the start of the season are back: the medical tests before the players start training. Next Monday the players are due back to begin preparations for the 2011/2012 preseason.
It is hard to believe, but it is six weeks since the players posed for pictures with the trophies they had won and set off on their respective summer holidays.
Today the people responsible for the materials started getting everything ready at the Ciutat Esportiva to make sure the players have all that they need when training resumes on Monday.
Unlike in World Cup and European Championship years, most of the players have had a nice, long break in 2011. The exceptions are the four South Americans playing in the Copa Amèrica and Thiago, Bojan and Jeffren, who played in the European Under 21 Championship, but all of the other players have had over 5 weeks to rest.
In fact, some players, like Xavi o Puyol, who didn’t play in the end of season internationals, have had 7 weeks off, a veritable luxury at this level.
It is well known that in sport it just important to train as it is to get some time to recover. Other than appearing at one or two summer coaching camps or public events, and Thiago and Pedro renewing their contracts, most of the players have been able to totally disconnect from the football world, which is in total contrast to last year, when 8 of the squad were in the Spain team that won the World Cup.
So, there is just a week to go before they are arriving back at the Ciutat Esportiva with their batteries recharged and ready to continue the amazing job done over the last three years.

Excellent post khaled. To the dot information. Just what is needed.
Some of us can hardly believe that the new season is about to start. It seems only yesterday we won the UCL. One reason could be the unexpectedly dull transfer window in which so little has happened so far. Maybe this means that August will bring breathtaking excitement in the transfer market.
Re: Barca Pre-season "2011-2012"
Barça to face Girona in Copa Catalunya
Barça will face Girona in the Nou Estadi, Tarragona in the semi finals of the Copa Catalunya on Monday, August 8. The other semi final is between Espanyol and Nàstic.
The 22nd edition of the Copa Catalunya was decided on Tuesday, which is actually the one for the recently finished 2010/11 season. The completion will be played on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 of August at the Nou Estadi in Tarragona. Barça will face Girona (21.45), after the first semi final between Espanyol and Nàstic (19 hores). The final will be on Tuesday at 21.45.
Just after the tour
Barça have a hectic August ahead of them. They travel to the Copa Catalunya just a few hours after they get back from the United States, where their final match is on August 6 against Club America. The weekend after they have the first leg of the Spanish Supercup (August 14, Santiago Bernabéu).
Opponent of Barça B
Girona is one of the teams playing with Barça B in the Second Division. Coached by Raül Agné, they finished eleventh last season. They won 2-1 at the Miniestadi and then lost 2-0 at home to the FCB reserves.
The draw, held in the Colet Museu, Barcelona, was attended by the General Secretary for Sport, Ivan Tibau, the President of the Catalan Football Federation, Andreu Subies, and representatives of the four clubs taking part. Director Josep Ramon Vidal Abarca represented FC Barcelona.
