Gervinho was in scintillating form as he scored two goals & made three assists for Ivory Coast.

Gervinho only scored once and assisted twice, not three times. Still a great performance, though.

So the players are doing well, providing chances and scoring goals..... Great hattrick from Park, and wonderful 4 goals from RvP. (even though it's against san marino, which i believe is an absolute joke. Scoring no goals in their group and conceding 44)
But this oughta give our strikers some much needed confidence boosts, to start our season next weekend! Smile Smile

I juz hope now that no other players get injured, after Jacky confirmed on twitter that he'll be out for another further 2-3 months

England U21's play tonight at 19:00 UK time. Another chance to see Henri Lansbury and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain strut their stuff again, this time against Isreal U21.

Yeah, it's on ESPN from 18:30.

Frimpong withdrew himself, citing injury which, clearly, is a lie. He doesn't want to play for England. The F.A. have been trying to convince him to play for them but he's very much set on playing for Ghana.

Excellent. We need our players to be at more of a risk to injury and fatigue.

Henri Lansbury and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both on the bench tonight as Pearce rotates his squad.

Technically he only got three assists, since winning a penalty doesn't actually count as an official assist.

Still, to come and half-time and set-up three goals is very impressive. Each one involved him going down the right and crossing or cutting the ball back. The kid has impressive pace and dribbling ability. More importantly, he can make the right decsion whilst running at pace and provide that final ball.

Lansbury took his goal well, too. Good run, touch and nice finish. Both are going to be fine players.

the makeup of our team is really impressive when you look at it from an international stanpoint. so many big contributors, even the youngsters.

RvP - starting forward for arguably the best NT in the world
Walcott - playing for england NT @22yrs
Gervinho - starting for Ivorian NT
Wilshere - already solidified his place in england nt @ 19yrs
Ramsey - captains Welsh NT @ 20yrs
Song - playing for Cameroonian NT
Vermaelen - captains Belgium @ 25yrs
Mertesacker - German NT regular
Sagna - starts for France NT
Santos - starts for Brazil NT (even though Marcelo>>>>>>>)
Park Ju Young - captains South Korea NT
Rosicky - starter for Czech NT
Benayoun - captains Israel NT

Joel Campbell - starter for Costa Rican NT @ 19yrs
Henri Lansbury - England U21 NT
AOC - England U21 (lighting it up!) @18yrs

the point im trying to make is that we're a small club. :coffee:

By the way, since it was brought up earlier in the thread: I'm pretty sure Henri Lansbury's contract expires in 2014, not at the end of the season.

i dont think our problem was that we needed a leader. our problem was just that our depth wasnt as good. lets see how the new additions do.
