I'd like to see 1860 München on par with Barca in 10 years!

TSV 1860 München who barely managed to avoid bankruptcy this year, found a new sponsor in the Arabian businessman Hasan Ismaik who got 49% of 1860. Ismaik wants to use the football club for promotionial reasons and not to earn money as he is aware of the fact that it is difficult to actually earn money with football.

When he was asked by journalists where he sees 1860 in ten years time, he replied jokingly with a big grin: "I'd love to see them where Barca is right now. It is allowed to dream after all!"

1860 currently play in the 2nd Bundesliga. They weren't relegated, but they barely avoided bankruptcy, not least because they got money from their city rivals Bayern München to stay afloat.

But why don't they invest in their own leagues? I thought bundesliga banned foreign ownership?

Bundesliga bans people from owning more than 50 percent of a club (hence 50+1 rule). So that guy bought 49% of the club and thus can't decide on his own what will be happening there as the majority still lies with the club.

Eventually every big club will have some rich guy at the helm.

Well, looks like that guy is a fan of Germany and a football fan and as 1860 was in severe financial trouble, they obviously thought it was a good idea to get him into their team.

With some luck he'll leave the 1860 managers mostly alone on the sporting side. Well, from how it looked, 1860 would have gone bankrupt without that guy buying the 49%. They were on the verge of losing their license due to their financial problems.

I don't have the exact numbers either, but they are still well below 49 percent at Bayern, so no problems.

ADIDAS and AUDI each own 9.1% and Bayern 81.8%.

He's gonna definitely see that because Barca is gonna relegated after the world finally finds out that Super Floren is right.

Good question. Actually I think 1860 wasn't too expensive for him to become a shareholder, and as they play in the 2nd league, I severely doubt any high profile transfers in the first place. I guess we will have to wait and see.

seems to me like a poor mans Dietmar Hopp from Hoppenheim
who also just fund till the club refinances himselve and is stabilized enough in the bundesliga
