Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Jay Barcelona don't want Cesc really, they just want to show the fans they tried and also show cesc they are interested. They know Arsenal would never give up Cesc for that price.
So the good news is we get to keep him for couple more years, and all wenger needs to do is surround him with players that win trophies.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
In another news its seems that no Arsenal player will be leaving this summer.
Dortmund deny bid for Nicklas Bendtner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gael Clichy trying to force through potential move from Arsenal to Liverpool so he can stay in the Premier League - report. I still don't get why leave Arsenal for Liverpool?

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
according to arsenalinsider:
Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has claimed that attacking midfielder Ricky Álvarez has signed for Arsenal, according to an Italian radio station.
Goonertalk have seemingly broken the story here. They run these quotes: “We had a specific interest which we express as early as January. Unfortunately, a mistake on our part has happened and he has already signed for Arsenal.”
But other bloggers disagree. On Twitter @YoungGunsBlog (Jamie Sanderson) says: "Zamparini has been misquoted on Álvarez. Actually said, 'it would be difficult because Arsenal are interested'."
Google translate the quote from Tuttosport as this: "Alvarez Velez? we had a specific interest we had in hand as early as January. Unfortunately, our mistake we did a quick run at the moment and has already signed for Arsenal."
All very confusing this end!
------------------------------------------
also according to gunnerblog
Supposed Arsenal target Ricardo Alvarez has agreed a deal with an unnamed club.
Sources close to the player have told Gunnerblog that any club entering negotiations at this point is wasting their time - Alvarez has an “agreed commitment” to a mystery club.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Well if he is smart, ALvarez would join the Gunners.

Arsenal linked with a prolific experienced striker at last!

A rumour that actually cheers me up for a change! by Peter Rooke
There have been hundreds of Arsenal transfer rumours in the last few weeks, but there have been very few that have matched Wenger’s promise of experience and maturity in the striker role (well except for Eto’o I guess).
But today we are finally being linked with a 28 year-old hitman from Zenit that really knows where the net is, and his name is Aleksandr Kerzhakov. He has been knocking in goals throughout his career in Russia and even last season chalked up an impressive 22 goals from 44 appearances, and those Russian defenders are not exactly pushovers.
His career record currently stands at 151 goals from 353 appearances, and in the last three seasons he has scored exactly one goal every two games, so he is definitely consistent and he has often be used as a right winger as well!
The rumours are stating that Zenit want £12m plus an Arsenal player going the other way (Err..who could that be then? Hopefully Bendtner but I doubt it very much). Kerzakhov would certainly be a brilliant partner (or cover) for Robin Van Persie for the next few seasons.
In fact if I could win a few Jackpots on Which Bingo I would pay for him myself! And give them Bendtner and Denilson for free as an extra added bonus.
With Kerzakhov in Bendtners place and Cahill in the back line, all Wenger will then need to get is a solid holding midfielder and Arsenal will be all set for next season.

Any thoughts on this rumour, I just want new players. I getting sick and tired of all these rumours really, when is Arsenal going to sign some players.

SoFoot have an interview with Fàbregas today, where he says "I'm done with Barcelona" and says he's happy in London.
Cesc: "When I am home, I want to be in London. You know the expression the grass is greener? I'm done with Barcelona."
Here's the SoFoot link: http://t.co/ZYnrOn5
Off of Young Guns from Twitter.
Ill be extremely happy if this is true

So it looks like we have signed Rick Alveraz. But if this happens, what about the gervinho deal? I hope this is just to replace rosicky or something. Cwuse I want Gervinho!

They're both independant deals. It's not a case of one or the other. We've actually got two seperate teams of people working to secure both deals.
We're trying to sell Bendtner and Gervinho is practically his replacement; added competition to the right wing and further depth in the striker's department. Even if Bendtner, god forbid, is still an Arsenal player next season Gervinho will still be ahead of him in the squad.
Alvarez plays on the left or in the centre so he'd be either Nasri's or Rosicky's replacement. Apparently we have received a bid for Rosicky and we all know about Nasri's situation. It's no unfeasible that both end up leaving.
So we could have Gervinho, Alvarez, Walcott and Arshavin as our four "wingers" next season.
I should point out though that Zamperini is a tiny bit eccentric.
If this is true though, it adds some substance to the rumour that we're firming up some deals next week.

why everyone keeps saying Cahill did we made a bid for him ??
Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Palermo president reportedly misquoted according to younggunsblog on twitter.
Apparently he said Arsenal are the favorites not arsenal have signed him.
Hopefully we get him though.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Palermo is still a third part if any deal is involved between us and Velez.. I'd rather wait till one of these two confirm.. Not getting my hopes high before that..
Though he'd be a good addition, I hear his injury record is dubious. Also, would he take a while to acclimatize to our league?
Eithe way, I am still not sold on him as a replacement for Nasri.. I still see the Nasri contract being sorted out before we get any news on new signings..
Gervinho and Samba still are the strongest RUMOURS.. there has been no confirmation on either deal and yet another week has come to pass.. Looks like we are going to wait till 1st July in any case..
I would want to see these new signings as a part of our preseason, to get a clearer picture of their roles and how AW envisages them playing in the team.. As of now, we can only wait and be patient..
On Cahill - No clear indications yet.. Doubt we'll sign two defenders again this summer, after signing two just last summer and given the youth prospects knocking on the first team door..

They are independent deals like someone pointed out and more quality in the squad will definitely strengthen the squad.

Don't say that
I reckon 3-4 signings will happen though- not to mention a lot depends on Cesc, Nasri and Clitchy.
