Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
#AFC have agreed personal terms with Lille striker Gervinho. They expect to agree a transfer fee in the next 48 hours.

See, I have doubts about whether Wenger is actually looking to buy a striker. Knowing him, he'd rather give Vela a chance before he splashes on someone like Benzema.
Even if, hypothetically, we had a £24,000,000 bid accepted, then what? Benzema isn't going to take a major pay cut to play for us. He'll stretch the wage structure somewhat and I wonder if the Arsenal management will do so willingly.
On a more personal level, I still maintain that Arsenal don't need another striker if Fabregas remains at the club considering that with him we only use one striker.

What about Nicklas Bendtner. we need someone to replace him, I think Wenger should buy a striker if Bendtner leave it does not have to be Benzema, someone who can gives goals we need him too, Salomon Rondon?GoonerJay29 wrote:See, I have doubts about whether Wenger is actually looking to buy a striker. We don't need to replace Bendtner. The whole reason behind his potential sale is that he can't get enough first team games and has to make do with playing out of position. Bendtner obviously wants more first team action as a striker and is leaving to find it.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are still left with three strikers (van Persie, Chamakh and Vela) and four "wide-men" (Walcott, Arshavin, Nasri and Rosicky). Numbers wise, we're completely fine with or without Bendtner.
This is without considering Gervinho, who may come in soon. So that'll be five players for the flanks and another who can operate up front. And if Nasri leaves and/or Vela goes out on loan again then we'll still have four players for the flank and three up front with Gervinho covering for two positions.
It all works out.

I have said it many times I would like it fi Bendtner says at Arsenal, I think he can only get better, this season he played good when he got the minutes.GoonerJay29 wrote:[

If he stays and comes good, then I won't complain. It's win-win for us, really.
It's pointless keeping unhappy players, though.

In every team there are players that are not happy, at least at Arsenal they are given many chances to prove themselves. Look at Jack the kid beat so many players to get his place in Arsenal, we need player like jack to give the rest competition.
Emmanuel Riviere would be a good signing if wenger does go after him he is young, french and loves Arsenal, what else can you ask for.

This sounds all rosy Jay, but spare a moment to think about our injury record.. And factor in that Chamakh and Gervinho would be away at ACoN.. Then, our crucial xmas period would see us depleted and playing Arshavin alone up front..
I want some one to compare the potential Vela can reach with what Benzema is now and what he will become with a few years.. That would be closer to Wenger is thinking..
I am not sure about that french kid.. I don't want to take him, develop him, and then see him become the next contract rebel..
I agree with Supercartts on the tax scene.. Its is, unfortunately, true.. That makes it even more slim a chance to see Benz at arsenal.. Seriously, in a football world where money seems to be a bigger issue than passion and loyalty, who'd take a pay cut AND give away more of that money on taxes?

10mil?!? I thought the deal was touted to be 4mil + Deni... And why are we buying another winger if we are supposedly already agreeing personal terms with Gervinho?! Something is fishy.

Wasn't it 4M+Denilson?If its 10M + Den15,that would roughly make Willians value as 15-17 mil which i know he is not worth!During the Jan transfer season Wolfsburg were ready to buy him for some 8M according to goal.com,then is Willian worth 18M?No.
5M+Den15 should be the final offer,If they don't accept then 5M+Den15+Blondie should be ok

Adding Blondie to a deal actually means we will have to pay more to convince the other team to take him.. The only place we can off load Blondie is some team in Spanish Segunda Division and hope his wages can be met by them..

From Goal.com about Gervinho..
In 2008 he said: "I need tokeep working and Arsenal will open the door for me. I have dreamed about that club. To play for them will be the best day of my life and I will do anything to play for Arsenal."

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It's not about Bendtner being replaced because Gervinho is a striker (SS) which people seem to misunderstand because either they havn't seen him or bcoz he roams a lot. Nobody said Benzema is joining Arsenal; it's dependent on Madrid getting another star forward(s) &whether he'l be happy to slug it out for a spot. This same dude was left on the bench with CR7 upfront because according to Jose 'i have no strikers'. Left on the bench for Ade in the CL semis after a fantastic vein of form. Didn't Robinho lose 80000/wk to join Santos? & he's obviously not @ 160 @ AC. If Benz were to become unhappy, which clubs would he be more willing to join? It's not always about the money &it's not as impossible as people think.srigooner wrote:GoonerJay29 wrote:Raptorgunner wrote:What about Nicklas Bendtner. we need someone to replace him, I think Wenger should buy a striker if Bendtner leave it does not have to be Benzema, someone who can give us couple of goals.

We may have players able 2 play certain positions but i'm sure Arsene is also very trophy-hungry by now &won't settle for mediocrity on the pitch

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ok a lot of rumors flying around nothing concrete yet.
First gervinho. I only saw him play two matches in the world cup so cannot comment on him. He has decent pace from what i saw but there is a difference between Ligue 1 and the EPL.
However i think he will be more adaptable to play in the SS/LW role.
Wiilan. I have not seen him play but of the few south american attacking players i ahve seen in the EPL only tevez has shined and that is down to some extent because he can physically take care of himself in the pitch.
So not so sure about this.
Benzema. I am not sure benzema will want to come at arsenal. Didn't he say he does not like the physical nature of the EPL. Plus he will have to play either as a RW or LW in the current formation with RVP as CF.
Plus his wages are too high not to mention he will cost at least 20 million.
Although with nasri future hanging i say we need one more winger.
I think arseanl can depend on rosicky health(although to me he is not a winger) or a certain 90000 pound recieving russian who has the stamina to play only 30 minutes.

Dont know whether this is old news but seems like larrson could make a return.
What do you guys think. He could be a good squad player. He did play well for birmingham.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has finally spoken out about the latest round of rumours about a move to Barcelona, and the Spaniard has insisted that he is keen to continue leading the Gunners.
"I am an Arsenal player. I have been very happy for eight years and I am very happy," said Fabregas who insisted that there had been no deals agreed with any Barcelona, or any other club. "There have been no decisions,” Fabregas said.
“The truth is that it doesn't always depend on the player and at the moment I don't know anything.
"I am very happy where I am. Anything else would be speculation that is untrue. You can never say never in this life as so many things happen that you can never predict."
Fabregas admitted to finding it difficult to cope with Arsenal’s trophy-less run, but believes the side can come strong next season to make the step up to title winners. "A player who is not frustrated at not winning titles is either lying to himself or lacks ambition," he said.
"There is a good team and a good manager and one of the most faithful fan bases in Europe [at Arsenal]. With those I believe we can make progress and one day win an important trophy."
Fabregas put any future speculation on his future over Arsene Wenger’s head, telling reporters to speak to him if they had any questions. "He is the boss, the one who makes the decisions,” the 24-year-old said.
“You should ask him. I was injured at the end of the season and I haven't seen him for about six weeks."

Good to see Cesc not repeat his mistakes of last summer and come out publicly to say he wants to stay, even if for now. On a side note:

Whereas, Wenger faces a fight to prise Samba away from Rovers, Bolton are prepared to sell Cahill for the £17million release clause inserted into his contract.
City had made all the running for Cahill, but the deal has run into problems because Dedyrck Boyata does not want to move the other way as a makeweight in the deal.
Owen Coyle also wants Nedum Onuoha and is yet to hear if the defender is willing to come to the Reebok.
Wenger is prepared to pay £17million straight cash and this will appeal to the Bolton board with the club hugely in debt.

In order to get Cahill and samba , Then Squllachi and Bartley Or Ignasi must go :/
Or Wenger have decided to sell Clichy and play Vermaelen as a LB
This could be our back 4
Ignasi and Bartley will unfortunately have to go on loan or leave the club :/

Sagna/Eboue--Djourou/samba--Kosc/Cahill--Vermaelen/Gibbs
Not bad but the only black hole we have is Gibbs Ignasi and Bartley will unfortunately have to go on loan or leave the club :/
