Lamela: 'Roma one of world's top clubs'
Erik Lamela has finally started pre-season training with Roma, “one of the biggest clubs in Italy and the world,” after the Under-20 World Cup.
The Argentine completed his transfer from River Plate last month, but was only presented to the media today following international duty.
“Roma are a great side, one of the biggest clubs in Italy and the world, which is why I wanted to come here,” said Lamela in his Press conference.
“I know there are great players in this team and legends have worn the shirt in the past, but I am not afraid. In fact, I’m happy to form a part of this squad.
“I spoke to Luis Enrique and Francesco Totti a little bit today, as well as my other teammates, but I’m still learning Italian.
“I know the Giallorossi fans are as passionate as the River Plate supporters. I can only pledge to give my all, every time.”
Tension is rising in the Roma camp after a shock 1-0 Europa League defeat to Slovan Bratislava, which puts their qualification at risk.
“I watched the game and I liked the way Roma played, so the result was unfair. Will I play in the second leg on Thursday? I don’t know, the important thing now is to recover as fully as possible from the injury.
“My ankle is improving and we’ll see what point it’s at next week.”

Re: Welcome Erik
Is it just me or are some of the questions they asked Lamela, as well as Bojan and Angel, completely dumb? I mean, wtf does this kid know about Totti and Borriello sitting out against Bratislava, what kind of comment do you expect from him?
Anyways, Welcome Erik!!!
