Gaddafi's Regime is Collapsing! - Page 2 Empty Re: Gaddafi's Regime is Collapsing!

Post by buddytaller Sun Aug 21, 2011 1:38 am

Do you know that before the chaos erupted, Libya had a lower incarceration rate than the Czech Republic? It ranked 61st. Libya had the lowest infant mortality rate of all of Africa? Libya had the highest life expectancy of all of Africa? Less than 5% of the population was undernourished. In response to the rising food prices around the world, the government of Libya abolished ALL taxes on food.

People in Libya were rich. Libya had the highest gross domestic product (GDP) at purchasing power parity (PPP) per capita of all of Africa. The government took care to ensure that everyone in the country shared in the wealth. Libya had the highest Human Development Index of any country on the continent. The wealth was distributed equally. In Libya, a lower percentage of people lived below the poverty line than in the Netherlands.

Do you know Libyans received free medical care, education and electricity? Literacy rate in Libya is the highest in North Africa? Any Libyan who wants to study abroad just needs to write a request and they receive a scholarship from the authorities. Do you know that 15 million cars are registered in Libya, a country with a population of 6 million? In general, these are expensive and good cars, and they have easy access to them because for a £45000 car, you pay £3,000 or £4,000, and the rest is subsidized by the state.

Libyans lived an affluent lifestyle and were unwilling to do the menial jobs, which was left for the country’s 1 million immigrants (15% of the population). If Libya is a “hell hole” as is being portrayed by the media, why were so many foreign workers from all corners of the world ready to work there?

Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's social and welfare programmes in Libya are far greater than those implemented in neighbouring countries. Modern infrastructures have sprung up in recent years which aim to attract investment and bring added wealth and sustainable development to the citizens of Libya; Gadaafi's literacy programme has seen universal education become reality and since he took power in 1969, the life expectancy of Libyan citizens has risen by twenty years while infant mortality has decreased sharply.

Gaddafi represents the control of Libya's resources by Libyans and for Libyans; literacy reached ten per cent of the population when he came to power. Today it is around 90 per cent. Women, today, have rights and can go to school and get a job. The standard of living is around 100 times greater than it was under the rule of King Idris I. The conclusion, therefore, is that Gaddaafi's Libya is a different ball game from Tunisia and Egypt.

Gaddafi was not perfect, he had his short comings. But so did Bush and Blair who used various excuses to trick the world into supporting them in their invasion of Iraq. They tortured prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay detention camp. They killed innocent civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq and still continue to do so. Last week NATO forces killed twelve 9 year olds in Afghanistan, a few days later they killed the cousin of the president. Yet the world remained in silence.

Why did no one call for a no fly zone when in 2006, Israel invaded Lebanon and killed over 1000 Lebanese civilians? If Israel could use the excuse of self defense against Hezbollah, why can’t Gaddafi do same?

Arab men are so powerful and brave...I was watching Skynews and one of the rebels was protecting her and after he got her there safely she interviewed him, she asked him: " What effect has this had on you? Your such a young man and you've seen so much! "
he looks at her and replies : " We will recover! We will have freedom! " and laughs.

Only the future will tell if the Rebels or Gaddafi was right, negative repping all my comments is a bit childish, just lay down your points, why do you think the rebels who are made up of Al Qaeda and Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) elements who according to the Washington-based Centre for Defence Information are a band of radical Islamists, are legimate rulers of Libya.

The United States and Britain have branded the group as a terrorist organization and frozen its assets. But the group's members are heroes in the more religious east, where they are protected by powerful tribes, among whom is Imnifa that gave Libya Omar Mukhtar, the legendary freedom warrior.

The Islamists, it appears, are standing in the way of the imperialists' war agenda in Libya. Yet the West is trying to hide the lead role the Islamists are playing in the rebellion, for obvious reasons. Well, after all, in realpolitik even a terrorist can be a bedfellow.

I'm sorry, but this is a load of BS. You're listing a few positives (some of which weren't actually caused by Gaddafi), how about I list a few of his atrocities?

- Injecting over 400 children with AIDs and HIV, scarring them for life? Why? For shits and giggles. Later, he accused 5 or 6 Bulgarian nurses of doing it. All of the nurses that were falsely accused were beaten, whipped, and electrocuted. One nurse said that she was tortured so badly that she just confessed, so she would stop being tortured.

- He was behind the Abu Saleem massacre. One day back in 1995, Gaddafi's men kidnapped over 1200 men from their homes and put them in prison. Later that night, all of them were murdered in the space of a couple of hours. Then their bodies were thrown in the ocean. The families of the murdered men had no idea where they went until 8 years later, when the news had been released by Gaddafi.

- 10% of Libya's population are Amazigh (a.k.a. Berbers), the original inhabitants of North Africa. They had their own language, names, alphabet, etc. But they were still Libyans either way. When Gaddafi came, he waged a fkn war against them. Anybody caught speaking the Amazigh language goes to prison. Anybody caught writing the Amazigh language goes to prison. Anybody caught naming their children Amazigh names, goes to prison.

- Back in the late 70s, football was banned. Only people who were already professional footballers before football was banned were allowed to play in a league. And the names of those players was supposed to be kept secret at all times, so they don't become popular.

- Learning/Teaching English was banned in Libya for quite some time during the late 70s, harming the future of that generation a lot.

- Selling/Buying clothes + other stuff was banned for a short time (crazy, I know). I used to hear stories of how people weren't allowed to buy any clothes, they used to

stand in the middle of a huge crowd behind a truck, and people would throw bags of clothes into the crowd. You got something nice, wear it, you didn't you still had to wear it.

- Back in the 70s and 80s, some students were complaining about lack of job opportunities and such other problems. You know what happened to them? Hanged, all of them. In some cases, the student was brought in public, and his whole family was forced to come. Then, 2 men would tie a rope around his neck and both of them would pull from either end. Instead of a quick death by hanging, they wanted to slowly suffocate him, destroying every cell in his body, in front of his parents and brothers and sisters. After the kid finally died, his parents would be forced to sing and dance over his body and show praise to Gaddafi.

- Gaddafi personally ordered for the Lockerbie bombing, which killed 286 people.

- Gaddafi also personally ordered for the bombing of another flight (the name escapes me), which killed 160-260 people.

- Orders for the bombing of a discotheque in Berlin, kills a few U.S. Soldiers.

- Gaddafi aids, with weapons and finances, Slobodan Milošević of Serbia in his genocidal attacks on Muslims in Bosnia and the Albanian population of Kosovo.

- Gaddafi stupidly and unnecessarily gets into a war with Chad, which ended up killing over 6000 young Libyan men. And barely any of those men were signed up for the military, they were all taken from their universities and jobs. And those that did return from Chad were drugged as a way of debriefing.

- Gaddafi destroyed something called "the freedom of speech" . I've been there myself and I've witnessed it myself. People were scared shitless of actually mentioning Gaddafi's first name. They were afraid of talking about politics at all. They were afraid of even disagreeing with a single thing regarding the government. Because they all know what their fate will be if they do anything against the government; prison, with the possibility of being tortured or killed.

All of these are off the top of my head. Here are some of his atrocities during the 2011 civil war:

1- Shooting at unarmed protestors
2- Burning houses of people in Tripoli who called Al Jazeera
3- Looting houses of people suspected to have protested against Gaddafi
4- Torturing kidnapped people to death
5- Shutting off water, electricity and communication to cities
6- Indiscriminate shelling of cities with BM21 grad rockets & tanks
7- Attacking ambulances & hospitals and killing injured
8- Using ambulances to move forces & attack on protestors
9- Kill doctors for treating injured people after hospitals were closed for people
10- Using State TV to encourage violence.
11- Attacking & destroying mosques
12- Using sleeper cells in Benghazi to randomly shoot at civilians to create chaos
13- Forcing migrant workers to join mercenary training camps
14- Stealing all money, phones & other stuff of refuges
15- Attacking livestock near attacked cities
16- Destroying graves of dead protestors, taking away bodies to unknown place
17- Bringing in people to dance with Gaddafi pictures in massacred cities.

Oh yeah, and take a look at this, mostly it documents the people who've been killed/missing, but it also covers some other stuff I forgot:

http://newlibya.com/?p=36

Now if you think that revolting against Gaddafi for a second isn't justified, then I'm sorry but you're a blind douchebag.

Nope, there's already a new Libyan government up and ready for life after Gaddafi, not some puppet govt. They actually acknowledged that and said that it won't be happening to them.

Whoa, slow down. The rebels are normal people. Not radical Islamists or anything. It's a people's revolution. Whether Islamists agree with this revolution or not, I don't know. But it's the people who had enough of the oppression who started this revolution.

Seriously, where are you getting this stuff from? These are lies. The legitimate rulers of Libya is the NTC, a group of people who formed the council.

And Al Qaeda? lol pfft, they have no part in the revolution whatsoever, the NTC denied that itself.

@ 7amood11, a lot of the points listed above are unsubstantiated, and are mere speculations, but you're free to believe anything you want to believe.

What I know is that Gaddafi has done more for Africa than any other present leader, he almost single handedly created the African Union, which in many ways has helped foster unity and co-operation among fellow African States. He has helped bring development to many parts of Africa, he is still regarded as a hero in Ghana and seen as a revolutionary comparable to Kwame Nkrumah.

The rebels are not normal citizens, many of them are trained militia who belong to either Al Qaeda or LIFG. Abdel Fattah Younes a rebel commander was recently murdered by his fellow rebels, on suspicion of his continuous allegiance with Gaddafi.

I predict the rebels will take over Libya by next month, but that will be the beginning of the end of Free Libya, which was the most developed country in Africa. All the progress made by the Gaddafi government will be reverted, when the big oil companies, strike selfish deals with the puppet government.

With Gaddafi gone, the rebels will want to find new enemies, and whatever puppet government, the west brings to power will be a legitimate target.
The rebels will continue to cause problems for the new government and Libya will become the new Iraq. Every one will lose, except the big oil companies and the western governments who can't wait to have their share of Libya's resources.

Show me the unsubstantiated points.

So Gaddafi is still a hero despite all the atrocities I mentioned in my earlier post? It's interesting to see how mass-murderers and criminals still get approval around here :coffee:

Yes, Gaddafi did some stuff for Africa, but what did he do for us Libyans? There are people I know who have land taken from them by the government and haven't been returned since. I know people who had their homes taken from them by the government with no justified reason. I know people who've been driven out of Libya for no apparent reason. I know people who've been promised tons of money, but end up getting nothing. He did nothing for us, he didn't give a damn about us, and this revolution is 20 years too damn late.

He keeps saying the same old BS "Libya's money is for the people". But when I go there and see our piece of shit airport, the shitty homes, so-called "respectable" neighborhoods with no roads, and the shit hospitals, I can't help but wonder where all that money actually is. You know where it is? With Gaddafi's family, who're wiping their asses with dollar bills.

Libya is one of the biggest oil exporters in the world, and obviously we are a very rich country, judging by the assets frozen around the world. But then I look around and see nothing but shitty facilities that isn't suitable for us. He's done nothing to us Libyans.

Abdel Fattah Younes was not assassinated by the rebels, why would he be? He severed all ties with Gaddafi, and he was actually one of the biggest blows on Gaddafi during this revolution, inspiring many other military generals to switch sides. You're making baseless assumptions again. The NTC confirmed it themselves that Abdel Fattah Younis was murdered by Gaddafi's men.

You have no proof whatsoever of the rebels being LIFG or Al Qaeda militia. I have freaking friends and other people I know down there fighting for the liberation of Libya. They're not militia from Al Qaeda or LIFG, so quit making baseless assumptions.

One of my closest friends witnessed and took part in the beginning of this revolution in Benghazi. And he's a uni student Not one of the imaginary Al Qaeda militia. I actually asked him a few days ago about where the other protesters were coming from at the time. (they used to meet prior to protests) He told me that some of them were unemployed, others had day jobs, a couple of others were students, etc. The word "Al Qaeda" never even came up, so your assumption that the LIFG and Al Qaeda are fueling this revolution is very, very wrong.

The only militia in Libya are the militia that Gaddafi is bringing in from other African countries to screw his own people over.

Progress made by Gaddafi? What progress? I've been there, I've seen it all with my own damn eyes. The lack of coordination the country has, the low quality facilites etc,. That IS NO PROGRESS.

The NTC is not a puppet government, contrary to your beliefs. They are aware of the demand for oil, and they already have a plan for life after Gaddafi. Libya will not be an Iraq, because no troops will be landing on Libyan soil. We were against that from the beginning, and it won't be happening.

Your post is full of baseless assumptions, because any supporter of Gaddafi would have to resort to making baseless assumptions I guess.

1) The LIFG and Al Qaeda are not fueling the revolution,

2) The NTC is not a puppet government and is fully aware of how to use its own resources,

3) And Abdel Fattah Younis was not murdered by the rebels (ridiculous assumption).

Gaddafi is a criminal, has an arrest warrant to his name, and will be killed or brought to justice. End of.

Also, Zuara was liberated, near the border.

Advancements galore! We'll be celebrating a victory soon enough! (and have a toast to all those imaginary Al Qaeda members for helping us out lol)

Living conditions in Tripoli are very bad as well. The prices of some goods have multiplied by up to 130x... Things that used to be sold for a dollar now go for about 20-100 dollars, depending on the thing itself. Add to the fact that nobody has been paid for 5 or 6 months, and you get people fleeing the country.

Some people don't even have running water or electricity anymore for the past 3 months.

Almost 1 million people, about a sixth of the population have relocated from their homes. Some went to Tunisia, others to Egypt, some to othe Libyan cities, all in hop of finding better living conditions.

Lybia is a oil country, and when you take into considiration the number of Lybians and the vast resources the country has, you'd expect the Lybians to be one of the richest people on earth, and eventhough they are well off in african standards, they are no where near where they should be

that aside, do you think its right for a man to rule a country for over 40 years without elections ? people have the rght to pick their leaders you know, but Qaddafi was even grooming his son to be his successor !

you can like the self proclaimed 'king of African kings' Qadafi for what he did for Africa, but his own people dont want him no more, and you have to respect their well

Gaddafi's Regime is Collapsing! - Page 2 Empty Re: Gaddafi's Regime is Collapsing!

@buddytaller;

Sorry sir, but if you actually beleive what you are saying then you are an imbecile.

7amood ia fraking Libyan, he obviously knows better than the country than you do.
Have you been to Libya, have you any proof on the numbers you sprout, have you any idea of the oil reserves Libya commands?

From your posts, I can see that you have no goddamen clue, that you ar just a goddamen clog repeating some unholy BS you hear from BS sources. Do you understand the idea of leadership and what it demands.

You bring in Madela's speach. Mandela was asked to be al eader, a position he did not want and then left. One speach from the great guy back in 1999 does not make Ghaddafi a hero.

Many heroic speaches were written about Saddam, but the guy was a Tier 1 tyrant. Many heroic speaches were written about fraking Hitler and fraking Stalin as well.

Here is a thought, use your brain.

Here is the situation in Libya:

IT SUCKS MAJOR BALLS. Shambles is all I can say about it really. Libya was a pitiful country dependant on Oil only. And despite all the income they got from that no visible improvments could be seen. No future plan was in effect, and the mad tyrant (he as an absolute loon) was playing an imaginary game where he is the king of kings.

Please, next time you decide to defend a tyrant. Don't.
It is such mentalitys as this that causes Africa so much pain and suffering. Mandela fought against lesser things the former South Africa regime did to them than this loon was and still is doing to the Libyan people.

Update: Huge battle going on right now as we speak in Al-Mayah, a city to the west of Tripoli. Once Al-Mayah falls into the hands of the Freedom Fighters, then thousands of FFs will be able to march to Tripoli uninterrupted. These thousands of FFs are all coming from Al-Zawyah, Nalut, and a host of other liberated cities.

I think the western Media has done a lot to brainwash a lot of you, but there is no denying Libya was a prosperous country.

This again is an earlier quote of mine check it up if you don't believe it.

Libya was a heaven in North Africa, there were a million migrant workers from Africa and Asia working in Libya a country of just 6 million, mainly in the construction industry, busily constructing roads and buildings for Libyans. All of this was after years of US and UK led sanctions post the Lockerbie bombing, a crime Libya denies to date.

Libya was leading the fight against Al Qaeda in North Africa, it helped stemmed illegal migration across the Mediteranian, and when it refuses to sign the senseless Oil deals, bam! They are again vilified and sent back to the times pre-Lockerbie bombing compensation.

The economic and travel sanctions were only lifted after Gaddafi agreed to pay billions of dollars in compensation to the families of the victims of the crush, this was followed by high profile visits to Libya, Blair and Berlusconi, came to Libya to foster trade relationships. The economy in Libya was booming, do you see the cars the rebels are using in Libya, these are high quality civilian vehicles, something you'll never see in any other warfare on the continent.

And here is a link where the US NATO commander admits to Al Qaeda elements among the rebels.
http://www.infowars.com/us-nato-commander-admits-al-qaeda-linked-to-libyan-rebels/

Libya will soon became a haven for Al Qaeda sadly and North Africa will soon again become a battle ground for the radical Islamist groups such as LIFG, when Gaddafi their common enemy is gone.

So you just copied and pasted the same stuff again?

"There is no denying that Libya was a prosperous country"... That is bullsh*tting at its best. I've seen it all with my own eyes, I know more about this than you, and believe it, Libya was never prosperous under Gaddafi. And if you think they were prosperous, then you better start using your brain a little bit more.

It's sad how a tyrant and mass-murderer can actually be supported around here. It's your mentality of being satisfied with shitty rulers and conditions that's keeping Africa in such a poor state.

Lmao, stop making baseless accusations and use your brain. Al Qaeda never fueled anything in Libya, alright, and I proved that earlier. Shame that you're so deluded.
