Skrtel became beastly like under Clarke + Kenny, and Agger's just a gun.

Napoli - Maggio

Real Madrid- Ricardo Carvalho. Pepe is getting all the credit because of his amazing performances in Clasicos, but Carvalho has been consistent throughout the season. Pepe has also been exceptional, I'm not taking anything away from him, but Carvalho was more consistent. He boght a calmness in Madrid's defence which was severely missing last season. One of the steals of the transfer market.

Barcelona- Gerrard Pique. Really stepped up this season and showed that he can handle things on his own in Puyol's absence.

AC Milan- Thiago Silva. Possibly the best CB in the world after Vidic, this season. Improved immensely and the main reason why we have the least conceded goasl in Serie A this season. Made Eto'o and Cavani look like amateurs and has inherited Nesta's crown as the leader of our defence.
Inter Milan- Christian Chivu nuff said

Juventus- Marco Motta. Giorgio Chiellini. Injuries blighted him but was the heart of Juve's defence and was always their best defender

I'm rather surprised at how many people are mentioning Pique given that it was his weakest season at Barca...

Cole was pretty good throughout the season IMO. If goalkeepers are also taken as defenders then Cech edges it for Chelsea IMO.

Skrtel was probably our most consistent perfromer this season. Carragher gave some great performances too though.
