Nah, it's gunna take lots of time. He hasn't made any promises and rightfully so, because we don't really know what to expect this season. Patience is going to be key.

As for this signing, I'm glad we got Kjaer. I know he didn't live up to his expectations with Wolfsburg, but he's still young and already very familiar with Serie A, unlike some of our other signings. He was also excellent with Palermo. Look forward to seeing him play.

Serge, Please tell me you're watching Wolfsburg V Gladbach?

Kjaer just wiped £5m of his valuation Laughing

I did. I guess it was that horrible midfield again that caused him to do that. Very Happy

Nah, I think he was scared for a second that Wolfsburg's asking price was too high so he did his best to lower it! Very Happy

Seriously, that looked kinda intentional.

Upps, and another million down. Bobadilla making Kjaer look like a fool.

He's still very young. I don't know how you can get any worse at that age.

Maybe a change of scenery is all he needs. Just looking at those Wolfsburg pics and I'd go pretty crazy, too.

I don't really feel pity for players going there though, they obviously took the money over the amenities.

Still, that's why Wolfsburg is so hate-able.

It's a tiny (pop.: 120.000) ugly city, the youngest city in Germany, founded in 1938. It's basically just the VW plant and lots of ugly buildings (except for the VW bosses and engineers who live in bigger houses). If not for the crazy amounts of VW-money, nobody would go there. And they even managed to buy themselves a title.

I think being title contenders is a bridge too far for this Roma team right now, but regardless of their pre-season with further development and time they can be. They will be tough opponents in the race for third I'm sure of that.

Good signing, even if his reputation in Germany continues to crumble.

Remember we took Barzagli from Wolfsburg also, for a few hundred thousand Euro's because in Germany he was 'sh**', still from minute one at Juventus he was solid as a rock. Serie A is very different to play in, it requires different attributes and as long as Kjær can transition back smoothly then Roma have a good player who is perfect for the project they are trying to build.

Eh, for a team that was second placed 2 seasons ago and that now arguably has a much, much better squad, why can't they be title contenders? It's not like any team in Italy is by leaps and bounds much better than any other one - other than Inter who are irrelevant since they won the TIM cup.

im just perplexed about one thing. Kjaer is an hyper slow defender with no ball playing skills that is going to play for a coach with barca ideology, hence high line. is he going to be their chygrinski?

We're not contenders.

New coach, new president, new owner, new management, new philosophy.

We're still very much in transition. Losses to Valencia and Bratislava have confirmed that we've got a long, long way to go.

Kjaer was the defender we've wanted all summer to replace Mexes so I'm quite glad we got him and not at all worried about his form. He knows Italy well and should fit right back into the groove of things.

We're not finished in the transfer market yet..We are pretty close to signing Porto's Fernando for 11 million from what Ive read.Osvaldo from Espanyol is pretty close to us as well after Atlectio Madrid opted to go for Falcao......We're also very interested in Casimiro ( Some brazilan kid who plays for Sao Paulo)...

Your 3-man midfield is a bit weak imo. No real playmaker, it's a lot of responsibility for the forwards to create goals.

Our midfield is where we're suffering most. Pizarro is the natural playmaker there. It's still very much up in the air as to who will start. None of the midfield players we're linked with are natural playmakers though so I don't think that's what Luis Enrique's looking for.

DDR is creative...
If we get Fernando this would take a lot of the workload of DDR and allow him to get more forward...

It's curious he isnt putting more attention there, knowing his history with barcelona and the way he brought up Thiago and the likes..

it's not Fernando you need most, but a playmaking CM. rare breed in this market tho

@TheFonz, DDR will be decent, you need quality in that role. he isnt a tempo setter, and that's what you would need.

Porto used to play Moutinho-Fernando-Guarin, your midfield could look like that, with DDR being the engine man, B2B like Guarin, but you are lacking someone like Moutinho i would say.

Very important i think, If Juventus does well next season, it will be mainly because of Pirlo for ex

Well Sabatini *sporting director* is very keen on Casimirol. Now I don't know much about the player but from what ive read he can play anywhere in the midfield so maybe thats where out Moutinho will come from..Also forgot to mention Pizarro he's our main creative man in the mid usually but I doubt he will get much playing time if we get Fernando as LE prefers Perrotta for that position because of his high workrate...

We will see how it turns out. I know about Casemiro, he is a DM/CM kind of player, supporting mid in the same breath as a DDR for example, B2B
