Chelsea's starting lineup Empty Chelsea's starting lineup

Post by Guest Sun Aug 14, 2011 2:22 pm

Cech, Bosingwa, Terry, Alex, Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Lampard, Malouda, Torres, Kalou

Other than Cole, who is top 5 at his position, there are no other WC players that i see. Cech may have a small argument... Malouda has his moments (less and less). The rest of the team is solid, but not elite-quality talent. Lacks creativity too.

Can't see this lineup competing with Man U and Man City (on paper). They're in that secondary group with Liverpool and Arsenal.

They need to change things a bit imo.

This is chelsea from last season. Not really a Villas-Boas team at the moment, change will come.

Apparently, AVB encourages attacking football.

Sturridge back from suspension, signing in midfield and attack and Ivanovic back from injury will change everything.

Kalou wont start every week, he's only starting because Sturridge is suspended and yes a CM is very much needed.

After reading this thread I'm honestly shocked how we finished second last year and were a win at Old Trafford away from another League title considering we basically have the same team as last season.

And this thread is a bit kneejerk we'll still bring in players before the window closes.

Rooney, Nani, Evra and Vidic are all elite type players. Maybe not top 5 because their positions are uber-talented in the world right now; but in terms of talent, very good or getting there. There's also a lot of high end quality around them at Man U. Chelsea seems like it's just holding on in terms of talent... a lot of aging and low ceiling players out there.

Now i feel dirty. I actually kind of dislike Man U.

They don't need to have WC players in every position. Man Utd will still win the title though.

Difference between making an impression as a sub then making one as a sub, hardly a fair comparison.

Mikel, Torres and Ramires looked fine to me. Malouda, Lampard and Kalou were useless. Torres needs someone to give him service.

I'd have to agree with this

Mikel held the fort well in midfield...Ramires did a little of everything, and Torres was Chelseas most dangerous player throughout

I agree, but rest assured it will be all sorted quickly so long as they sign a forward and a midfielder like it seems they will and Sturridge gets back from suspension....

Everyone can see there's no playmaker and the forward line is missing two players to compliment Torres one of which will be covered from when Sturridge is back.

So iam sure AVB see's this aswell.

There is no creativity in that team it's shocking. No one who he gets on the ball and get you excited about what's happening next.

they are in dire need of an advanced playmaker. the lampard-ramires combination is a let down imo, they wont win the league like that, one will see the bench.

Knowing the kind of football porto used to play, this is a far cry.
