obviously having someone next to you that you can play off is much better, some players simply struggle to even perform in those conditions, whereas for other players, it's natural and they cope just fine.

My point is Mbappe however much i love him, needs time to learn how to play as a lone forward, and i dont understand why Deschamps just took Giroud.

Mbappe's talent will overcome the odds at some point so maybe thats what he os betting on

Falcao played 1 game between Feb 25 and April 4 last season (and that 1 game was as a sub).  In those 6 games, where Mbappe was the CF, he scored 7 goals and had 1 assist.  Scored in 5 straight games during that stretch. He had 24 goals total for the season....  and 30% of them happened in that 5-6 week stretch where he was CF.

And who was talking about alone at the top?  It's the role of CF next to Griezmann...  two striker setup.

Germain in no universe played CF at Monaco lol.  Only in emergency cases or when they wanted to give guys a rest.  Did you even watch the games?  That only happened at OM this season because our only other CF is Mitroglou and he's been mostly shit.

At Monaco, it was Falcao then Berbatov then Martial then Falcao then Mbappe... and then Falcao again.  Germain was basically Griezmann for Monaco in terms of positioning until Mbappe came along.  In fact Germain was always fighting for a role as he was benched by Martial for a half a season too.

Mbappe playing with Falcao = 2 CFs set up

unlike Lukaku at United leading the line by himself = lone n9

Mbappe is very good when he is playing very close to another striker. we have seen him shine so far at Monaco in that role.

However at PSG, when he had to play alone up front when Cavani was out it did not look good, he doesnt know how to do it all by himself, i dont know why you feel the need to defend him, those are just facts. and Mbappe is like one of my 3 favorite players, im just realistic.

Giroud is crucial to any set up. He is the first name on the team sheet too along with kante. Mbappe and Griezmann will fight for a place to be with him.

i used to think that too RG but Mbappe will start and he did not take a 3rd CF. not sure he will run the risk of playing Giroud when there is no one off the bench. He said he considers Griezmann, Mbappe, giroud and Fekir as the forwards.

DO you remember the game vs England? that's how they will start the WC if there are no injuries

Giroud offers that physical presence, if DD is smart he'll use Giroud in the scrappy games and Mbappe in the games where they can play.

I think they'll be rotated, if anything. Next to Griezmann.

I disagree actually, if that's the team then France are gonna do worse than I thought. The front 2 is nice sure but that midfield is very suspect. Spain or Germany would rip them apart.

He's been very meh for a long time... and he refuses to play holding mid. They had to back up Kante and N'Zonzi is the better choice. The other guys are just plain better right now than Rabiot.

Deschamps is the only reason France won't win the World Cup and i really hope he gets the sack after this WC because this generation really is special.

Still hoping the players perform well. Fekir, Pogba, Mbappe, Dembele, Giroud and griezmann. It's just too good to not reach the semis at least.

The thing is RG...  french people in general and, thus, french players, have a piss poor attitudes and a sense of entitlement.  So you have to manage them with an iron fist unless there's a player like Zidane that's the clear leader.  This team doesn't have a clear leader...  so DD is forced to really be a disciplinarian.

That's my concern.  No leadership.  We've always had talent since the late 70s.... but have only won when leaders like Platini and Zidane were on the team.  Someone needs to step up into that role.

Varane needs to step up. out of everyone there, Varane has the quality and the winning experience to be considered for leadership.

having said that, I still dont have a lot of confidence. mou tactics has no place on a football pitch. Frajce should be playing a lot better with what they got than be limited to deschamps nonsense.
