With Pique saying he is gone after WC18, and Ramos going at EU20, who will be Spain's next CB partnership?

I'm far from being Pique's biggest fan. But the Spanish fans should cut him a break. Yeah he's for Catalan independence (And is fairly vocal about it) but he is Spain's best defender by a mile. They'll probably be wanting him back after WC2018.

Pique is just being an idiot. Complains about being the center of attention and then some crap in social media and interviews every other week. Playing for Spain should be an honor, he is not doing anyone any favors, if he doesn't feel it then he should go. If he had no ill intentions by cutting off the sleeve (which is very possible) then its some Balotelli-level stupidity right there. He has no one to blame for controversy but himself.

Putting my Sevilla hat on, I'm really happy for Escudero as he deserves it. Vitolo seems a mainstay of the squad now. Confused about Asenjo/Reina over Rico, though.

Spain's centre back depth looks pretty average. Are there really no good Spanish centre backs around beyond Pique and Ramos?

This was the team that was proclaimed to be a sure WC winner while we poor Spaniards are supposed to be out of running with our WC generation aging / retiring, world catching up to how to play us, and the new generation just not good enough!!!

No mention of the video replay use. Got used twice, was proven correct and reversed two initially called ref or lineman decisions.

Anyway, Sports on that sour grapes diet. The calls were legit and Spain actually played a good game. Deschamps, while I think he is a competent manager, clearly is spoiled for choices and hasn't gotten a concrete idea of what team is the best version.

After years of unmoving support, Chad finally got to see Illaramendi show his potential for Spain.

Goalkeepers: Kepa, Reina, De Gea.

Defenders: Carvajal, Nacho, Ramos, Pique, Odriozola, Monreal, Azpilicueta, Alba.

Midfielders: Busquets, Isco, Thiago, Silva, Iniesta, Saul, Koke.

Attackers: Aspas, Asensio, Rodrigo, Costa, Lucas Vazquez.

No real natural back up for Busquets but all in all, predictable squad for Spain.

Lopetequi is quite comfortable with Thiago as backup to Busquets. He played there last two games!
