I had questions over that position as well. I think the boss will select Alonso because he plays more deeper than Busquests and also just to satisfy the Madrid fans that he actually picks Madrid players. Alonso and Busquests have been two consistent holding midfielders for Spain and it is hard to separate them in terms of form...

Expect him to be in the side like it or not though the boss did say he was very impressive with him. If he does play 4-3-3 he may swap ALonso and Busquests or have one starting and bring another to waste time or help the defense to streghten.

This is probably going to be our starting 11

------------Iker
Arbeloa-Ramos-Pique-Alba
------Busi-------Xabi
-Silva----Xavi-----Iniesta
---------Torres

But this is what I would use

------------Iker
Arbeloa-Ramos-Pique-Alba
---------Busi
-----Xavi----Iniesta
-Silva-----------Mata
--------Llorente

would of had Soldado starting with Llorente off the bench but he wasn't selected. Also the Busi, Xavi, Iniesta trio is a proving winning formula that has been playing and dominating midfields with each other for years now. I think why mess with that? Also with Silva and Mata you have creative fast wingers. Santi would be the sub off the bench for Silva and Pedro for Mata. Cex and Xabi would be my first choice subs at midfield

Is no Spain fan a little concerned about Xavi's under the surface injury? What would a line-up without Xavi look like? (IMO, Spain always played really well without him, but that's just my 2 cents)

I agree it would be something like that. Melikes.

My favourite spanish side:

------------ Casillas
Arbeloa - Ramos - Pique - Alba
--------- Alonso --- Martinez ---
----- Silva ----------- Iniesta ------
--------Llorente -- Torres-------

Would like Mata to play too, or Cesc.

As a change up I like

----Martinez-Xabi-------
Navas----Fab---------Mata/Pedro
---------Llorente----------

I don't think Torres and Mata at the same time makes sense, I rather Pedro.

Im probably outdated a bit, but do u guys agree with Negerdo over Soldado selection? I thought Soldado played well whenever called uup and hes the most well rounded and goal poacher Spain got, so I was majorly shocked when Negerdo was choosen, whom I dont rate much...

For the starting eleven, pretty sure nowadays assurance is the common thing, so its:

------------Iker
Arbeloa-Ramos-Pique-Alba
------Busi-------Xabi
-Silva----Xavi-----Iniesta
---------Torres

Although I would love to see something like which is more attacking:

------------Iker
Arbeloa-Ramos-Pique-Alba
------Busi-------Xaxi
-Silva---Carzola-----Iniesta
----------Torres

Although unless the front 4 really play awesome and click, attacking wise its not going to be easy scoring, so Alba should get foward a lot. Ramos used to do it as RB very well but Arbeloa isnt that good attacking...

Altternating choice there are lots though, Carzola should get chances if we wanna go attacking more, Pedro or Mata in for Alonso, Navas + Llorente if wanna go to crosses and high balls....

In no ways is Xabi Alonso fit to be a CM in this team. He can play as a DM incase of Biscuits since both play very deep & are not typhical headstrong tackles but more or a passer.

My formation -

ST
Iniesta Silva Santi Carzola
Xavi Alonso/Biscuits/Martinez

That should be the mid-field IMO. Iniesta is Spain's best player,Santi Carzola brings width & brilliant long shots which Spain needs. There is no other player like Carzola & he adds that variety to the game. Silva is well Silva, him & Iniesta can switch in the LW/CAM slot & Alaba can give width.

Xavi is the heart of the team. It is suicide to drop him. Removing him is like giving 2 Psychological points to the opposition. Alonso & Biscuits are roughly similar player,so I dont care who plays.

Or Martinez in that slot.

Apparently Javi Martinez and Llorente have been notably exhausting due to Bielsa's training sessions, and have yet to recover. I wouldn't find this hard to believe, since they had to play 2 finals, and Bielsa's training sessions are famously very demanding.

"Here we are all striving for the same and [any problem] must be left outside when you play. Everyone wants the best," said Busquets.

"True, there were moments that were not so good, but now everything is normal. We're the same team, fighting for the same and everything is perfect. We are partners.

"It is difficult to have a friendship with someone who is not [of] your club that you do not look at all year.

"But there is no problem. To think that is nonsense."

I still don't like the 5 playmaker formation. Honestly, something like this will have less talent but be more effective.

Casillas
Arbeloa Pique Ramos Alba
Martinez Alonso
Navas Iniesta Silva
Llorente

Busquets and Xavi can go perfect their side-passing off the pitch with safe back-and-forths to each other all day.

Alonso is the only one in Spain's midfield who knows how to pass the ball forward, when the others have the ball all the players are just static but when he has it somebody always runs so that he can spot them

gtfo Xavi/Busquets in with Benat

Can't decide whether this was an awful performance by us or a superb performance by Georgia.

Probably the latter as the Georgians showed much spirit and character unlike the Saudi's who were just happy to play us.

Arbeloa really is way out of his depth for Espana as there are several RBs in Espana better than him. VDB needs to get a check

Alba once again showed he is no LB and is just a speed merchant with little ability.

Busi was tidy but looked scared out there. Silva, Iniesta and Xabi were our best players but Cesc made the biggest impact on his release from the bench.

Soldado, bless the little valencian as he always seems to come through for us when needed and was everywhere on the pitch. Far better than Torres.

Not much to say aside from Georgia deserve respect as Soldado saved us in the end

What do you think about 2016 .... Xavi, Alonso and Arbeloa won't be there... they will be in their mid 30's. Isco, Thiago, Carjaval, Muniain(etc) will take over them.

Iniesta will be well in his 30th(32 to be exact), think thats what Kizu tried to say by exluding all of Alonso, Xavi and Iniesta

Iniesta is also benched alot these days for Barca don't think he will make it till 2016 as a starter

Thiago will probably take the place of Cesc in Barca's starting line up but yh, the guy will probably be a starer barring a disaster

Alba meh lol Monreal>>>>
