Liverpool FC Match Analysis [2011-2012]

Against Everton:

Reina - 8 - Clean sheet, saved well the few Everton attempts.
Kelly - 7 - Good job defending, could've done more going forward.
Skrtel - 8 - Solid display.
Carragher - 8 - Display was solid.
Enrique - 9 Another assist and did his duties, looked for opportunities to bomb up the field.
Lucas - 8 - Relatively easy afternoon for him after Everton were down to 10 men.
Adam - 7 - Almost scored, but I was left waiting for a bit more creativity from him.
Kuyt - 6 - Otherwise good, but missed a penalty.
Downing - 6 - Was it just me or was Downing very quiet today?
Suarez - 8 - This guy provides so much creativity, but we need more from our other attacking players, too.
Carroll - 8 - His goal was a perfect example of how we should play with him in the side: Other players build up play and create the chance, Carroll there to finish it off.

Gerrard - 7 - Went close once, but couldn't tell the difference to Adam.
Bellamy - 8 - Was involved in the build up to our first goal, good appearance.

Reina - 8 - Did well.

Kelly - 7.5 - Well done lad.

Skrtel - 8 - Great work.

Carragher - 8 - Great work.

Enrique - 9 - MOM

Lucas - 8 - Good work. Showed experience in not jumping into 50-50s while on a yellow.

Adam - 7 - Did well.

Kuyt - 6 - PENO

Downing - 6.5 - Combined well with Enrique.. Ok game, Was Invisible

Suarez - 8 - Boossss

Carroll - 8 - Bosssss

Gerrard - 8 - <3
Bellamy - 8 - Great impact sub.

Ratings are biased because it was against Everton ...

Anyway.

Reina - 6.5: Nothing to do really. Distribution was good.

Enrique - 7.5: Solid in defence. Good in attack. Lucky didn't give a penalty for a handball.

Kelly - 7: Kept Young out of the game for the majorty of the match with a minor injury...

Skrtel - 8: Best performance for him in a while. Did not put a bad foot in all game in defence, solid in the air. Dissapointed he didn't even hit the target at the end, but he is a CB...

Carragher - 8: Same as Skrtel. A lot more interceptions. Did pass it back too much to Reina, but atleast it's not a hoof eh?

Lucas - 6: Worst game in a WHILE. Did not look in the game at all, sloppy in possession. Looked knackered. Brang back Poulsen memories.
Also booked so will miss next week against Norwich. :\

Adam - 7.5: Actually impressed by him. I will admit, I don't understand the Adam hype, but he played very well today.

Gerrard - 8: First game in 6 months. Scored. Kept possesion. Ran out the 90 minutes.

Kuyt - 7: Made Evra his b*tch. Unlucky not to score when Downing whipped in that cross. Also unlucky he didnt get a penalty for an Evans handball.

Downing - 7: Bout time he had a decent game again. Two super crosses, one for Kuyt and the other Hendo. Looked invisible in the first half though.

Suarez - 6.5: Should of scored, but shot straight to De Gea. Did quite well, but definitely not the same game he had against the Mancs last time.

Hendo - 7: Showed why Kenny bought him. Played great in the centre. Luckily not to score with that chipped shot, and the header and fought for possession.

8 for Skrtel and Carra ??

the marking job theey did for their goal was embarrassing.

Jamie should of beat Welbeck though.

I think its a decent result for both sides tbh.We would have delightedly taken a point before the start of the match.Its one of those matches not losing losing is more important than winning regardless of the chances we created.

From Liverpool prespective this draw nicely sets us for next 4-5 games all of which we should win comfortably.That would us in a comfortable position for the 4th even if its only oct-nov.

Performance wise Gerrard's return Henderson's performance at AM and Adam's return to form were pretty good signs.

Also thought Downing was pretty poor until they sored their equalizer.

I didnt watch 1st half my appraisal may not be accurate.

Not sure how many people would of been delighted with a point at the start of a game. Looking at the record in recent years, and with the squads released before the game, it looked like a winnable game. We really showed that on the pitch today. Really really dissapointed with the scoreline.

Not really. As I have mentioned some where else, all I have had so far this season is the second-half of Spurs game. So not much to rate. Then again, it's just me.

I agree with with ICS; Kelly was our best player.

CC against Stoke:

Reina: 6 - Didn't have to do much, and couldn't have saved the goal, but distribution was uncharacteristically poor throughout.
Kelly: 7 - Excellent defense, went forward decently enough.
Carragher: 6.5 - Uneventful game, solid in defense. Yellow card wasn't fully his fault.
Coates: 5.5 - Good game aside from the one HUGE mistake putting us down 0-1.
Agger: 7 - Did decently enough in defense and looked fairly comfortable going forward from LB
Spearing: 7.5 - Good job breaking up play from the back. Passing was sloppy at times.
Lucas: 7.5 - Same as Spearing.
Hendo: 7 - Started off well, but was invisible for segments. One time in the second half even fought around a defender who was behind him so he'd have the opportunity to pass backwards, despite open space in front of him.
Maxi: 6.5 - Fairly invisible through most of the game.
Carroll: 6 - Failed to finish a few very well created chances near the beginning. Partnered well with Suarez and had decent movement off the ball, but overall disappointing.
Suarez: 8.5 - Beautiful first goal, led the attack throughout the game, seemed to be the only player interested in actually creating chances rather than passing it around waiting for an opening. Great game.

Subs:
Skrtel: 7 - Uneventful at the back.
Bellamy and Kuyt: Didn't see enough of their playing time to gauge effect.

Three I can't agree on but the rest for me is the same . .

Suarez should be getting a clear 9, Skrtel was a beast so 8 & Carroll a 7 as i found his performance a little of speed apart from the goal. .

Against Chelsea:

Reina: 6.5 - couldn't do anything about the goal, and had that one beautiful save, but in general not a difficult game for him.
Enrique: 7 - great in defense, not as excellent going forward as in the past, but still serviceable
Agger: 7.5 - very solid in defense
Skrtel: 7.5 - also great defensively
Johnson: 7.5 - goal was amazing and he was good going forward all game, but a few defensive lapses left me scared. Got beat a bunch on the outside
Lucas: 7.5 - beast in midfield, won balls consistently.
Adam: 8 - Beautiful pass to Johnson, great job stealing the ball off Mikel, and even looked good defensively.
Bellamy: 7 - meshed well up front and challenged well.
Kuyt: 7 - challenged their midfield well, but poor miss towards the end of the game and was fairly quiet.
Maxi: 7 - well taken goal and kept play moving well.
Suarez: 6 - poorest game I've seen from him since he joined the side. Misplaced passes and poor control on the ball.

Henderson: 7 - played well as a sub, brought energy back to attack and had a beautiful run.
Downing/Carroll: N/a

Liverpool didn't employ a 4-4-2 against Everton, and there is no way Johnson has outperformed Skrtel and Agger this season, nevermind Adam outperforming Lucas AND Gerrard.
