Valdes would do just as well in the NT.

Casillas is chosen ahead of him due to leadership abilities, IMO.

It's also to do with poliics. They can't have a catalan replace the captain of the NT. No matter how good Valdes becomes, as long as Casillas is captain he will never be dropped.

That's also a good point. Apart from Casillas, the captain has always been Alonso or someone Castillian, right?
