Moutinho is the most practical option atm. Modric is too expensive.. I think the club is planning on not spending over the limit now.. which is good IMO.

BTW Pastore is either an absoloute money whore or an utter idiot to choose PSG over Chelsea for just a few thousand euros.. He would have had a brilliant career at Chelsea..

I don't think there was a bid from Chelsea tbh. A few month ago i wrote about how it is very likely Zamp is lying about Chelsea interest. Because everything he has said was later proven to be false. He linked City, Barca, Madrid, and us to inflate Pastore price, and we know three of those teams have no interest in Pastore, we believed Chelsea intrest in Pastore because of our need for a midfielder. Beside Zamp words there were no evidence of Chelsea interest, no quotes from Chelsea or speculation from Skysports or BBC.

Chelsea interest in Pastore was a lie, Zamp had everyone fooled except me.

Modric or Moutinho would be my preferred choice.

Between those two i would go with Moutinho, not because he is cheaper but i believe he is better then Modric.

Don't think Josh has anything to worry about if we bring Mou or Modric, because i see Josh replacing Lampard by the end of the season. Ramires is the one who should be worried imo.

It looks obvious that if you were in talks with Pastore, he would have picked you, so in all likeness, you never reached an agreement with Palermo. It speaks of how willing Chelsea is to pay hard money, altho justified here, 43M is excessive.

I honestly don't think we will sign a big name unless we panic buy Modric which I don't want at all....

What we should not do right now is panic. Last time we panicked we ended up buying someone who doesn't even fit our system for 50m. What the club's priority should be in the next 2 weeks is to buy a left winger. Mata or whoever you like. Then at August 20ish, we should look in the market for a playmaker. Right now the guys we could sign are Sneijder, Ganso, and Modric. All three are terrible options because signing Sneijder would mean a clash of egos between him and Lampard, Ganso isn't ready asap and I don't think he is PL meant, and Modric will cost 40m and he won't even solve our problems. I think Villas-Boas will not go for Modric anymore because at that time he hadn't seen Benayoun and McEachran play in that position. Those two are great there and so we do not need creativity over there. Also he won't solve the problem of needing an AM to replace Lampard. Therefore I think the club should not panic and should wait until the final 10-12 days to go into the market for a playmaker because at that time the prices will also drop for players who need to be sold and we might get the right deal. Anyways the priority for this season to be the set the team for the next decade, not win the PL and CL.

Oh and Mceachran cannot play as an AM, as of now at least. It will be too big an ask to make him provide assists and goals.

I agree except for the LW, IMO we would be better off buying a RW, we lack width there and with Ashley and PVA there we have no need for a wide LW, put sturridge there and allow him to cut in. Buy a RW who will bring us width down the right, takes the pressure off ivanovic as that is the only flaw in his game.

Thats why Malouda should play as CM, so he finally fulfill his dream to play like Xavi. :lol!:

Josh will replace Lampard by the end of the season, as i said many times Lampard doesn't have the mobility anymore.

I don't like that myself cos I can't see either of them 2 bursting up from midfield for the counters etc and Ram needs to play for me.
