I don't think so, he has done well. We need bosingwa to bomb further down the right though, thata probably asking too much though.

He's starting again lol

4 starts out of 4 matches in like 10 days...Villas-Boas likes him Smile

No doubt he will learn to adapt and become a beast on the wings.

Why touch McEachrans goal Sad He's doing alright out there with how isolated he is. I still think he needs to get used to the possession football idea. It's great that he's trying to do things and is bursting with confidence but he needlessly gives away possession with rash long shots etc sometimes

Maybe a knee jerk after Bolton but; does he have to that selfish? He was taking shots and trying moves that would only work against a lower class opposition. I hope he doesn't end up like Malouda and screwing up important games due to his selfishness

That said, he did provide the assist and played a role in most of the goals. Maybe its overconfidence?

Yeah I'd agree, he's bright and inventive + keen to try things but often a long shot is just a useless turnover of possession. I think it's just something he'll learn over time, I'm sure AVB will mould him into a great player Smile

I think it's pretty clear he likes Sturridge alot so will help him develop. When he learns to depend on teammates around him + is involved in buildup more he will be even more of a weapon Twisted Evil

Wish he bagged his first hattrick last night Sad

Why focus on the negatives though?

He was sensational in the first half and even though he had two players man marking him throughout the game he still scored two and created 1.

Sure he's nowhere near the finished product yet but you have to remember he's only making his 4th PL start for us in an entirely different position.

Yeah, just discussing his flaws, I love the guy Wink

Great player and adds flair to our team, was devastated when I heard he might be sold as he's a future star and has lots of passion and desire to improve.

Sturridge + Mata on the pitch at once is just mouth watering, now Torres is back we have a beauty of a forward line Very Happy with Drogba/Anelka backing up is great(no kalou please).

You support PSG now Isz? Sad

Anyways on topic I still think he'll take some time to adapt. But he'll be in consistent form some time in the season I'm 100% sure. Right now he's struggling with teams that play quick and require you to keep possession.

Haha that's just a joke Wink I didn't realise I'd left it as QSG.

Agree with your points.

Now I know why we didn't buy Hulk, we already have him:link :coffee:

Nerman >>>>> Hulk

Would really love to see both Nerman and Sturridge on the flanks next season. Torres upfront and Mata behind those two.

Shame he's off to Madrid/Barca though. Crying or Very sad

Just read after his double against Bolton last week he now has 20 goals in his last 26 starts.

That's a Messi/Ronaldo esque record right there.

FRANK LAMPARD is backing Daniel Sturridge to burst on to the England scene as Fabio Capello looks for the man to replace Wayne Rooney.

Rooney has been told he will not start another international until he has served his ban at the Euro 2012 finals.

And that could open the door for Chelsea hotshot Sturridge to stake his claim in next month's high-profile friendly against Spain.

Sturridge, 22, was named in Capello's provisional squad for last week's qualifier in Montenegro but failed to make the final 23.

Yet now he is in line for promotion from the Under-21s as Capello uses the forthcoming friendlies to look at his young contenders.

And Lampard is convinced his Chelsea team-mate has what it takes to succeed at the very highest level.

The midfielder, 33, said: "There is no doubt Daniel will break through at international level. It's just a matter of when it happens for him.

"He can be a great player for Chelsea and for England. He has skill, unbelievable speed off the mark and he can finish. What more can you ask?

"He brings the excitement that supporters crave and his pace gives him the ability to beat his man and create a goal out of nothing."

Sturridge hardly played for the Blues under previous boss Carlo Ancelotti but has impressed new manager Andre Villas-Boas since returning from a five-month loan spell at Bolton last season.

Lamps said: "His time with Bolton gave him the confidence that he could do it in the Premier League.

"He never got the chance here so he went to Bolton, scored regularly and returned to Chelsea for pre-season training with a spring in his step and showed he is going to be a top-drawer player.

"You can see the manager trusts him from the fact he has thrown him straight into the team this season."

Sturridge has been criticised in the past for being too big for his boots. But Lamps insisted: "Sometimes people confuse over-confidence with a desire to do well.

"He has every right to be confident because he has the ability to become a great player."

Oh yeah forgot about Rooney's ban! And the good thing is that Sturridge's best position is where Rooney plays for England (behind the front striker right?) so he'll explode there.

Hopefully playing on the wings would improve his creativity even more. banana

Yeah, similar to how Anelka seems to step it up when his position is under threat. I thought Drogba was looking good after coming back and scoring quickly against Swansea but he's been missing the past games Sad

IIRC Drogba wanted a 2 year extension but we offered him an year.

Unhappy or still not fully in form? He was very invisible and his touch let him down against the Toffees; like how Torres began his Chelsea career
