Ganso - Overhyped, Overpriced - Page 2 Empty Re: Ganso - Overhyped, Overpriced

Post by BiasedMilanFan3 Thu Jul 28, 2011 11:43 am

PinePHresh wrote:^I realize that prices are affected by more than one factor. And how are my prices 'wrong'? The 3 GKs have already moved for the prices listed. Spurs rejected 25 million pounds for Modric. Montolivo will arrive in Milan for less than 12 million euros any day now. EPL teams hilariously spent over 100 million pounds on Torres, Bent, and Carrol, while Cassano and Pazzini were on the cheap.

Don't you find it laughable that a player like Modric is worth over 30 million pounds to Spurs, yet Montolivo (a player of similar style and quality) will be sold to Milan for a third of that?

I've already explained why Ganso is so expensive, and if you had read my posts, you would have clearly seen that I do understand why some players cost more than others. The point is that the 'big' clubs are paying stupid transfer fees for players. Milan are smart with their money. Look how we added to our squad over the last year. If De Gea is a 20 million euro GK, then its no wonder why Santos are holding out for 40 million.

This is all to do with the leagues
Modric is an EPL club selling to (probably) an EPL club where every second player has a pricetag of 10mil+
Montolivo only has one year left and Fiorentina don't actually need the big bucks as badly as Tottenham.

Also Cassano was CHEAP, Pazzini wasn't

But I COMPLETELY AGREE on Milan and their money. We know how to get a good deal. It club's like Barcelona, Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United that will pay through the nose for not even the best players.

PinePHresh wrote:did you even read what I wrote? I UNDERSTAND WHERE THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE COMES FROM. We are not Madrid - we don't just throw money at everything. We find the right players at the right times to fill our needs in a cost effective manner.

You can pull 100 transfers out of your 'you know what' as examples but it has no relevance here. How does Ferdinand's transfer fee have anything to do with Ganso's current asking price and his potential to improve as a footballer?

I am seriously doubting your level of reading comprehension right now.

All i am saying is if Milan have 30 mil which i think they have and Ganso is the right player then why wouldn't they spend on him.just because someone else went ofr less money doesnt mean Ganso shouldnt be bought for that price.U shouldnt judge the price of a player based on what someone else went.

I think from what i read of this thread most Milan fans think Ganso is the perfect signing for Milan. So why shouldnt Milan not sign him for 30mil if they can afford him?

I bought Ferdinand example because sometimes u have to pay over the odd prices for players who u need.It may look overpriced for Ganso now after few years if Milan win CL would u wonder about the price?

I 100% understand your train of thought. If you did not notice, I wrote the OP; I am arguing that Ganso is not needed in Milan, therefore we do not need to bow to Santos and their ridiculous fee.

If we had all the money in the world to spend I would say, ' yes let's buy Ganso and Mr. X and Ronaldo and hell let's even get Sir Alex to coach us.' We don't have all the money in the world, though.

We should have kept Pirlo...

Milan is a self sustaining company for the most part, but we don't have millions upon millions of euros to throw at just any player. It has to be the right player at the right time.

Who says Ganso is the player to rocket us into European success? Isn't that the point of this thread???

I don't mind you having an opinion but statements like that make me feel you don't deserve one. So because we want Ganso you compare us to Man City? I know Milan always seem to be getting these deals but you have to be willing to spend, last season we got good deals but we splashed out some cash. Claiming you don't want to act like other clubs when you have a once in the lifetime opportunity (Most people here agree the kid is special.) If you had a player who wanted to leave wouldn't you want the most for him? Of course you will ask for a lot and work your way down from there, just like we will get in there and try to bring down the price.

Pirlo just didnt really have a place in Allegri's Milan though. It's what happened with Ronaldinho. And I think Cassano will have the same fate also.

I did not compare Milan to man city.

I was asked the following: Ganso maybe an expensive transfer but if he is the difference btw Milan winning CL or settling for QF which would u prefer if Milan have the resources to buy him? As i am again saying when u have the resources to buy a player u need why settle for secondary option?

Yes. Obviously if there were a player available who would win us the champion's league for sure, then we would have to sign him no matter what. The reality is that there are no guarantees in football, and Milan will not sign every starlet that comes out of Brazil. I mentioned Man City and Malaga, because they are the type of club that can buy almost any player. I'm saying that there will not be both a Mr. X and a Ganso in Milan (at least not this transfer market).

The metaphor was meant to mean that my love for Milan is so great, that I would sacrifice something to see us win, be it a 40 million euro transfer fee or a body part. It's just a figure of speech.

How can you say I'm not entitled to an opinion?

Overpriced- Someone whose price tag is too high.
Overhyped- Someone who does not justify the hype he receives by coaches, fans, media etc.

Example of overpriced not overhyped: Nicklas Bendtner; value 10 million but worth around 50 cents.
Example of overhyped not overpriced: Simon Kjaer hyped up a lot by Zamparini and media but left to Wolfsburg for 10 million.

Hope this clears it up.

I only said I kinda felt like you deserve one (Wasn't being serious). We're all entitled to think and feel how we want in life, I just felt like you were blowing this whole Ganso thing out of proportion. Many of the posters on here will agree that the price tag is set high, but we understand that in the end Ganso will be sold for less than the 40 they "want". I don't believe any one player can bring a team CL glory, but at this point and time in Milan he would be an excellent piece to the puzzle.

It would be hard to answer whether we have the resources or not to sign him. A lot of variable come into play once you ask that question. I think in the end we will find a way to bring him Milan, whether it be in January or before the season kicks off. It definitely helps that the player seems to only have eyes for Milan, gives Santos less leverage. In my opinion the question is not: Can we afford Ganso? or Do we have the resources to sign him? The real question is" Can we afford not to sign Ganso?

@mialnista99

So u actually believe that a player that is suposed to be WC can be "Over priced but NOT over hyped". Does that even make sense to you?

Santos are asking 30-35M for a player that by many has been compared to KAKA and Rivaldo; some went to the lenghty extend of writting poems on how he is already compared to a legend in Zidane, others claim that we need this guy if we are aiming for European glory, all that for a 21 yrs old guy and for 30-35M ONLY. Surley NOT "over priced" if this guy is what ppl claim he is, he is actually one hell of a bargain if you ask me. Back in the days we paid 25+M for a 17 yrs old PATO that only showed great potential.

OR

This guy is not what ppl claim he is therefore he is OVER HYPED but this does not necessarily mean he is "over priced", if he turns out to be a "Melo" then, yes; over priced, if he pulls a Modric then its a reasonable buy.

You said:

and this is what exactly you and Arquiteco said Ganso was. Suspect

Yes it totally does, if Amauri's price tag is now 30 million that will make him overpriced but not overhyped as no one rates him at all.

No one said, he is world class. He has the POTENTIAL to be a world beater just like Pato who was not world class at that time but had the potential to be world class. We paid 22 million for a 17 year old Pato. Santos are actually asking 30-40 million for him, and that is heavily overpriced. He is worth from 20-30 million. And yes a lot of people say he has the POTENTIAL to be as great as Kaka and Rivaldo and it is clear to see his PLAYING STYLE is very similar to Zidane, none of us are saying he is as great as Zizou. And yes he can be our answer to European glory, as the one thing that stop us from making serious favourites in the Champions League is a creative midfielder. A creative midfielder is our missing link and Ganso can be the perfect solution. And think long term, he is only 21 and can be our midfield lynchpin for years to come. What Santos is asking is a ridiculous amount for a 21 year old kid who has world class potential, but not world class yet.

I don't understand this part, apologies.

I'm sorry, looking back that's a horrible example I used. Here is a better one.
Kun Aguero: Awesome player, one of the best strikers in the world, left to Man City for 40 million+ when his value should be 25-35 million. Overpriced, not overhyped.

I said can a WC player be over priced but not over hyped, not Amauri. Please think; is Amauri WC ?

The "BLUE " should have been case 1, where the if the guy is what ppl claim he is he aint over priced the "Olive" was case 2 if he is NOT what ppl claim he is then he is "over hyped".

Anyway since you agree the guy aint WC, then we can agree he is being OVER HYPED, I dont want to go around and get you tens of quotes, ppl saying he is WC, and saying he is the next Zizzuo. LOL.

Please lets forget this is real money we are talking about here not PS3, 30-40M is a huge difference of 10M, even when saying 30-35M is still ahuge difference of 5M.

Comapring Agueros to Ganso is laughable to say the least, do you really rate both Aguero and Ganso the same??? Shocked

Do you value both of them at the same price? affraid

Let me ask you this, if you can garantee that in 2 years time Ganso we will be the "new KAKA", or "Rivaldo" or "Zizzou" at his peak,or a new style of players that has the same effect of the mentioned ones; will you not pay 40M for him now? :coffee:
