Yeah, because Tevez, Aguero never ever go 1 v 1 with fullbacks...not ever......

C-Rod doesnt have to be at the level of Afellay to own Marcelo..which is actually another point....all Afellay did it is face him up, stop the ball and then accelerate...and he still got owned.

come on dude, you are overplaying that mistake. Ok he was a victim of bad footing and it cost us a goal, a severe mistake i concede, but he never gets credit for actually defending for most of the game. He behaved remarkably putting up against Messi and Pedro, for someone who will get laugh at because he is a winger, it's quite significant.

the kind of player that will never get praised for his defending but will get his mistakes replayed to him over and over.

The one mistake isnt important, his overall game is.

You and I both know, someone like say Zanetti, that mistake would never happen. You and I both also know that while he isnt horrible (I never claimed he was) he isnt great or even very good defensively. He is okay I would say.

My entire point is, you wouldnt want him defending great wingers or great players who play down on his side.

What I am saying is, Andre Santos is much safer. The way he defended Robben in the friendly, Marcelo never could do.

What a nice discussion I've bee missing.

It's hard to comment on it. Both Catracho and Franchise have some good points.

I think it's wrong to compare Fabiano or Nilmar to best we have ever had. It's just like expecting Neymar to be as good as Pelé because he plays at Santos.

L. Fabiano was far from being our best striker ever, but he did a good job within his limits, and the team's limits for that matter. He didn't flop alone at the WC, the entire squad did.

Nilmar has done well for Brazil too. I think that if he plays for a bigger club, he can show how good he is.

Hulk is alright, and I don't think they have to play at a giant club to enter the selecao. But he is competing against some big players, so going to a big team and showing what he can do with better teammates might prove something to Mano. I don't know.

I have nothing to add to the Marcelo discussion. CDMs might cover for him when he goes forward.. but he'll still have to defend at times.

We'll find out how good André Santos can be when we face Argentina, Uruguay,......

Santos lost to Figueirense.

I really hope we can ge to postpone most of our matches in July.

We've lost our 3 biggest players to the Copa América (Elano, Neymar, Ganso),

And apparently it's already next week (or something like that, very soon anyway) that the u-20 NT squad will have to show up for training, so we'll lose danilo, alex sandro, etc..

Muricy is begging our directors to buy some reinforcements, or else we're screwed. These two championships are destroying any chances we might have of claiming the Brasileirão title.

CBF is just stupid. They schedule no games for this weekend because of the Copa América (except for a Santos game) , but then the weekend after that they do, and the one after that, etc. Where is the logic? Nowhere to be found. Basically, the league is not stopping for the Copa América, and teams like Santos and São Paulo are going to suffer.

I'm gonna say this.

Brazil tieing 0-0 to Venezuela, beats losing to Mexico 2-0 in their opening game in 07.

Yall remember what happened after that,,, I expect the same to happen.

CBF are really trying to help Santos' calendar.. it's the least they can do, we brought home a Libertadores title and we're serving them with a bunch of our best players. That's what happens when our calendar is different from everyone else's HOHO it's true though.. i am not all for changing our calendar, but....

Udinese sign Neuton of Gremio. Potential to be a real good defender.

can play centreback and leftback and volante. versatile within the back 4. Really was impressed with him when he took over Fabio Santos's spot during E GreNal.

Neymar need to gtfo the NT ASAP!!!!

Ramires is terribad and Thiago Silva is too dependent on his partnering CB. Daniel Alves is frail and Pato.. all you do is choke.

replacements? Fred Very Happy Hulk, Elkeson, Arouca and plz put in David Luiz in place of Thiago Silva.
