scottish football was so bad at 1 point that the games v the bottom half basicly became a race for goal difference, to combat this, the split the league in 2 for the run in...an attempt to make the games exciting and have an element of peril. all teams would fight cause they had something to play for, be it european qualification etc, so no mid table team laying down because they couldnt be bothered.

i say do the same for la liga, it would mean an extra classico, games v valencia etc...no 8 nils [ saying that...]

embrace the SPL model La Liga, let not the fact that jock Mc highland thought of it first put you off.

maybe you can write an email to the spanish federation, they might consider your proposal

shouldnt they do the same for epl too. considering liverpool ineveitably drop out of the title race by jan or dec and arsenal drop out of any title race without fail every year . ultimately its united or chelsea for the past 6 years who win

Liverpool haven't been good since 2 seasons now. Man city were a contender as well.

At-least we have people fighting and dropping out in our league, Not compared too accepting the fact that only two teams play for the league in spain,
Others are there just to fill up the empty 18 spots.

so u r saying that there is no relegation battle in spain because madrid and barca finish top two? .. lol the relegation battle is as good or better than the epl teams and as competitively fought..so is the fight for the cl places and the europa spots.. the top two may be a bit predictable but i have predicted either united or chelsea winning epl every season and have been proved right.. when was hte last time liverpool won the league?? before two seasons they were as bad.. and city havent really challenged for the title for the past two seasons. they were busy consolidating a cl place.. their title challenge will from next season.. so will malaga's

While Utd are battling v Blackburn away, coming back v 2 - 0 down v Blackpool and WH, struggling v Everton and Bolton... La Ligas top 2 are cantering to the finish..by and large.
It wont stop them winning but at least this way theres an element of peril.
Celtic and Rangers are still the top 2, but now theyre dropping a lot of points along the way

we did thrash a few teams but come on with players like that madrid are expected to win most matches and convincingly.. we thrashed a good epl side spurs, dominated the serie a champs milan , thrashed ajax, auxerre, lyon etc etc in the cl.. whereas in la liga madrid werent that dominant so as to easily win matches

barca may be a different case but then they are called one of the best sides ever etc and would win any league in the world

Im pretty sure lot of madrid and Barca sub players will walk into UTD and chelsea starting 11.so it is excessive player quality on these two,not beause la lig a teams are crap. say that to atletico who won supercopa by beating inter,and villareal who beat napoli on a close encounter.

and it's no surprise barcelona are walking the league, their last 2 games against the english champions looked like a charity game against special needs children... what chance do small la liga teams on their tiny budgets have if barcelona are treating the glorious manchester united like a doormat every time they meet...

Well wouldn't it basically be the same scenario if Barcelona and Madrid played in the EPL? They're quality is above the rest. So you can't really blame them.

The last 2 are not true.

El Classico, that is the only thing that league is good for...and even those matches were sh*t last season(maybe apart from the 5-0 drubbing RM recieved) .especially the disgraceful CL semi's that stained the image of football.

Real Madrid and Barcelona would make any league in the world non competitive.
