That was easily Mbappe's best goal for us. I hope it gives him some confidence. Good performance from us, overall.

Thimmy, that goal was identical to the one against Celta. Mbappe has played very well in last three game.I say he has adjusted.

Ah. I believe I was at a birthday party during that game, so I only caught snippets of it on my phone. I have noticed him playing better in the last few games. I just hope the form lasts.

Any one tired of Tchoumeni? Dude is not a center back and makes casual mistakes but he isn't performing well in DM either.

I saw through the hype from minute 1. Knew he wouldn't succeed with us with his playing style. Hopefully it spells the end of shoehorning Tchouaméni into the XI

I think his days are numbered. He won’t go until summer since we are very short of defensive players. His support from Ancelotti won’t matter as it seems Xabi is coming this summer. I predict midfield for next season will be Bellingham, Valverde, Camavinga, Güler, Ceballos and Nico Paz

Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
I honestly think he's just suffering a bit of a dip in form. I'm not in a rush for us to sell tbh. In fact I don't think the club is in a rush to sell. I think they'll only weigh that option if there's someone we are signing and we want to balance the books.
This is one of those reasons I don't like players being played out of position. They're trying to understand a new role, which is tough. And then when you throw them back to their original role, they're not used to that. I would rather he be a back up DM than the center back experiment. I think Carlo has an obsession with these experiments. He needs to relax.

Tchouameni could be better but to sell him? Unlikely.
Not sure about Xabi Alonso but remember, to sell him we would need to outright replace the man and I don't see us linked with any dms as of late.
Stand by your team. Tchouameni is cold atm and he is limited in some aspects but he will get better.

As long as Bellingham or Güler are playing they are not playing ‘. CM. DM. CM’. But a ‘CM. AM. CM. ‘
Formation. The only exception to this is if they go to only 2 forwards and play 4 midfielders. and actually Camavinga is more effective as a deep lying mid than Tchouameni is.

I didn't get to watch the game but I'm happy with the win.
For those of you who watched it, could you guys please tell me how did we do? We have been improving the last few games so I hope we played well against Valencia as well.
I'm also interested in knowing how did Bellingham, Mbappé and Cama do? It seems that Bellingham is picking up form and also Mbappé played well against Sevilla. Was it also the case against Valencia?

Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
We played quite poorly which is a shame because Valencia were terrible and could barely string 2 passes together.
Lucas caught ball watching for their goal as usual.
Nothing positive to say anything about any player until the red card and Modric/Cama coming on. We played brilliantly after the red card and everyone busted their backsides both offensively and defensively.
Jude was a leader on the pitch and his performance after the penalty miss was brilliant and created pretty much all our chances after that.
Mbappe was anonymous. Never thought he was this bad 1v1 until I started watching him every week. He could turnover the ball against a ball boy. And him being offside so often is so bloody frustrating.
Camavinga is great everywhere he plays. He alongside Modric turned the game on its head when they came on. Wonderful player always finding himself on the bench for whatever reason.

Thank you very much, hala.
It's really a shame that we can't be consistent here. I'm also disappointed that Mbappe has gone back to his poor form again.
We always play poorly away to Valencia, so perhaps things will improve the next game.
Also, I'm glad Bellingham and Cama are playing well.

Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
Hala, I agree with you re Camavinga. Today I saw a projected starting lineup for next year. Mind you it was British media so take it with a grain of salt. It had the three hopeful additions; Trent Alexander Arnold, Davies and Saliba in defense with Rudiger. But then they had midfield of Valverde and Tchouameni(!), rest was as it is today. I am shocked that Tchouameni is ahead of Camavinga. But I’ve also heard, they want to sell tchouameni and get Zubimendi in his place. It just seems noone values Camavinga as a starter, which is insane. Given only 2 CMs, he is in a tough situation. It would be best if Davies doesn’t come (backup plan is Gutierrez and they may bring him in anyways regardless od Davies coming), they should sell both Mendy and Fran, thereby possibly offering Cama roles for 2 positions.

copa game against deportivo minera now on. I can’t see the game but at 30 minute mark, already up 3-0. It’s a very young lineup with only regulars Camavinga and Valverde. 3 Castilla kids plus Fran on defense.

Asencio is a future Ramos ffs. Need his 50 meter runs to protect our players. Loved how he gave it back to Maffeo at the end.

With the talk of Tchouameni being a poosible sale, apparently Perez issues a warning, also to Mendy and Rodrygo saying all three needed to step up their game!
So did Tchouameni really play well today (after game ranking for him are high)?

I’m wondering about the CBs for next season. First off, it remains to be seen how much of previous forms will Militao and Alaba will be recovered, given the difficulty of complete recovery even after substantial recovery time from ACL injuries and in the case of Militao it’s the second time. Rudiger has been inpressive but his age as with Alaba, there will be a time in next couple of years when age will be a factor. Vallejo will be out of contract and gone. Tchouameni may well be sold.
Club is reportedly out seeking an established younger CB (Saliba being the latest, but there are several others). And then you have both Raul Asencio and Joan Martinez. As impressive as Raul has been, they were very impressed with Martinez last summer and were going to have him on 1st team this season, until he tore his ACL. But just like Alaba and Militao, we will have to wait to see how he recovers.
Given on how last season and this one have been with CBs, I hope they overbook at CB, particularly with the doubts of 3 of them.
In an ideal world, I hope they not only have the three incumbents but Saliba (or similar) and the two canteras in the squad.

Gavi runs around pushing anyone that runs in his direction. He is someone you'd want an Asencio to knockoutMyesyats wrote:halamadrid2 wrote:Asencio is a future Ramos ffs. Need his 50 meter runs to protect our players. Loved how he gave it back to Maffeo at the end.

Re: The Official Real Madrid Matchday Thread 24 - 25
Too many games. Our team looked gassed early on and Barca had an extra day of rest the difference is night and day.
And we still have the CDR... We're in for rough weather like I said back in December. Today we were well off our game but since it's supercup, I trust it will serve as a good wakeup call. Let the farsa fools have their moment. They will return to the mud soon enough once they face any other team.
Carlo has much to consider. Tchouameni and the FBs are a definite concern. I don't rate Rodri he's a loser, but perhaps zubimendi would be the better alternative should it be decided that tchouameni isn't cutting the mold? Certainly seems likely rather than a progression, we have been seeing a regression with tchouameni. I hope he proves everyone wrong but as it stands this is not a good season he's been having and as we're the defending champions of Spain and Europe, such substandard performances betray Carlo's expectations and that is simply unacceptable.
Hope we bounce back from this.
