Carvajal now injured for 4 weeks. We'll soon line up with only Castilla players.
Hopefully there's some talent in the youth team.
Is there a new Carvajal or Raul or Guti there?
There are a few. Not sure if they are promising enough to make first team
Best of the lot is Nico Paz who has played last few games and got a goal.
then there is striker Gonzalo who has overtaken last season promise Alvaro as lead striker. He also has played some in last couple of games.
at RB, there is Vinicius Tobias who has been hailed at various times as a Carvajal eventual replacement. I actually would like him included so that we can see for ourselves what he might offer. IMO, best choice than Lucas.
And there is Marvel who can play most defensive positions and is a possible eventual replacement for Nacho.
And finally there are Mario Marvel and Peter, who have been called up before. Plus there is Theo Zidane, who might be called for his name! All three are CMs.

Tarnish nott we're doing way better than expected considering all the injuries. Its a pain that we're unlucky in this area but winning games in spite of that will take us far.
Carlo knows exactly what to do and how to traverse this misfortune. If any of ye doubt him, put those doubts to rest. I very much doubt another coach could do as.well as carlo has considering we only got 1 real cf on the team and he aint even a starter.
Some things concern me but otherwise, we've dealt with our stuff fairly all things considered.

We have entered a really good run of form. Just hope it doesn't drop off after the winter break
Glad Luynin kept his spot. He is better than Kepa

Tchouameni, Mendy, and Valverde should probably all get some CB positional preparation with videos and Valdebebas training during the next three weeks.
Wonder how much speed and maneuverability Militao will lose due to ACL injury. With Alaba added to the list Madrid should consider searching for a reliable veteran on loan in the winter and the next generational CB in the summer perhaps.

I can't think of a single defender who fits that description right now. The only defender I can think of who's impressed me quite regularly over the past few years is Arsenal's Gabriel, and I wouldn't necessarily describe him as a generational CB. There's also Ruben Dias, who's going through a dip in form these days. We'd be lucky to find someone who's solid enough.

Lots of young centre backs being linked in January
Tchouameni at centre back could be a revelation like Camavinga on the left. Hopefully.

i don't want any carlo experiment that sees Tchouameni end up at center back. as far as i'm concerned, (and people might disagree), that dude is a midfield talent, who shouldn't have his progress hampered by doing center back work. i get it, we need bodies, but i don't think i'm down for another positional experiment.

Carlo is here to stay. This renewal is great news. I don't know why Flo waited this long to renew but considering how this season could've gone with all the injuries, Carlo has done exceptional work. I just hope with this renewal, Carlo's word will be considered more come transfers.

Lol, Carlo is the best coach for this team, repeatedly showing you nay sayers how good he is. And as for Zidane coming back, that has never been in the cards. The next coach after Carlo signs off will be Xabi or possibly Raul.

Tito, Tchouameni isn’t becoming a CB. When you have the number of long term injuries we have, you need to have not only good bench strength, but also flexibility to the changing situation. Have players that can fit into another role in an emergency situation is actually key to continued success. And given the abundance of good midfielders, having flexibility amongst them is great.
Historically, it has been holdings mids that can step into a CB role when required, off the the top of my head I think of Busquets, Yaya Toure, Casemiro.

I am glad he is renewed. I am pro Carlo. Still sceptical avout Xabi and the pragmatic in me want to go with a tried and trusted rather than go for a potential up and coming.

Re: The Official Real Madrid 23 - 24 Matchday Thread
I am actually a fan of Carlo. He and ZZ have been the best coaches in my time watching RM. He has his shortcomings definitely but I like how he has developed quite a few of our younger players. This renewal is not what Perez would typically do given there is a young coach who might slink away in the summer but I understand he had to give a longer extension to deter Carlo from signing for Brazil.futbol_bill wrote:halamadrid2 wrote:BREAKING: Real Madrid have renewed Carlo Ancelotti till 2026. @MatteMoretto pic.twitter.com/UCqe9OGDC1

Getting Zidane is wishful thinking from my end. I'd love to get him back but I understand we might have to look forward and get the next big coach before he evades us and never becomes an option again for a while.
Xabi also probably wqnts to stay at Bayer for another season or two in order to build something and develop away from scrutiny.

Yeah, like the way he has held back Vinicius, Rodrygo, Militao, Camavinga, Tchouameni, Valverde, Ceballos, Brahim, Bellingham, Nico Paz!The only one that he hasn’t played is Güler and it sure seems like he will get to play in new year. I think you are forgetting this is a young team plus how Carlo has changed this season now that he finally has a full squad he can trust with all the dead wood gone!

The fuck you on about sports? This team is quite young and carlo is actually trying to have us be less reliant on kroos and modric.
In fact. I think this current team may actually be his youngest in recent memory.
You mad because your boi chose psg over us? I wouldn't lose sleep pver that buddy.

He was going to Brazil if we didn't extend his contract, haven't heard anything about PSG going after him.

Couldn't they just have renewed him for one year?
Xabi Alonso is the "sophisticated" madridista's wet dream, this seems like a bit of a roadblock now, regardless of the fact that Xabi still has more to prove.
Carlo better win the leagues at least, and at least 1 CL of the next three (including this year). I'd call that fair and square.

If I were Carlo I'd make sure I'd have a say in transfers bc if not, I don't know how you turn down that brazil job at this point tbh

Re: The Official Real Madrid 23 - 24 Matchday Thread
i don't know that the brazil job is that attractive right now tbh. it might be in a couple years time. neymar i dont think has retired from brazil, might be best for carlo to take it over when he does. and save him the hassle of dropping him (even though to me its a no brainer that he should be dropped at this point....if he is still playing for them that is).
its good news for us at madrid though. a manager who knows the squad, and we're out of that managerial merry go round we were in prior to the zidane era. if not for anything, its great for consistency. and i agree, i hope he does have a say in our talent aquisition.

Re: The Official Real Madrid 23 - 24 Matchday Thread
Well let’s see…. Last year, we played the whole second half of the season with Modric, Kroos and Valverde (despite bad form from all 3). Though was benched and Cama as well if not for injuries at left back.
Central defense was again Alaba (poor form as well). Rudiger was benched.
Rodrygo played because we had nobody else.
Carvajal starts regardless. Mendy as well when healthy.
To me, the only 2 kids that got a chance legitimately by choice from Carlo were Vinny and Militao.

Yeah talk about 2 years ago to make your point and ignore what he is doing this year. As I said having a full squad that he can count on, makes a large difference plus the fact that Carlo himself says he has changed because of the players he has. He is doing exactly what every one has been asking for, in limiting the playing time of Modric and Kroos.

Re: The Official Real Madrid 23 - 24 Matchday Thread
To be honest, i'm not that concerned about starting or not starting youngsters. My only thing is win, start who is good enough to start, and let's not get used to putting square pegs in round holes. I think a thin squad is what leads to that. Then again, we have to be fair to mr ancelotti. He's done a darn good job that a contract extension should be a no brainer. And most importantly, the players seem to like him. To me that's the second most important part about being a coach, man management. The first is winning......tactics are a distant third in my opinion.
