City have been amazing. Their defensive structure is much stronger this year. They may actually win the CL this year
They looked like CL winners to me. Their extra energy in the duels wow. I guess that’s what happens when you play real defenders like Ake/Stones/Dias instead of jokers like Cancelo/Laporte/Zinchenko. Bernardo and Grealish put a massive defensive shift too.
Now they have the added clinical edge with Haaland and Alvarez. They just need Ederson to do better.

Tuchel sacked in the morning
Akanji-Dias-Stones-Ake is so tight!
Grealish is improving aswell, this year has to be the one..

Stones did the modern libero role today. CB off the ball and stepped in to make it a double pivot in midfield on the ball. Usually Pep makes his fullback do that, but he made the CB step up instead.

Remains to be seen if they can sustain that defensive solidity. Ederson likely isn't going to become a better shot stopper anytime soon

He did that in the Liverpool game too

Against Liverpool he was slotting back into RB out of possession. This time he was slotting back to CB.
I’ve seen it before when Tuchel had Marquinhos play as a middle CB in a back 3 off the ball, and as a DM in a 4-3-3 on the ball. But I don’t recall a CB stepping up and forming a double pivot which is a different skillset than playing as a lone pivot.

Actually hate the state of football when a striker like Alvarez has a better final pass than 95% of upcoming midfielders. Not surprised he was taking corners Lmfao.

Pep litterally played with 4 CB's and Rodri on top of them to cancel out Bayern's speedy wingers. Hats off to Pep that actually was genius Mou would be proud.

All worked out in the end but I think the real MotM was... Upamecano. Think at least 2 of the goals City scored could be attributed to his mishandling of the ball. Nightmare game for him probably the worst one in his career. The man has to brush it off and do better.

@Casciavit you see Alvarez as a classic 10 potential then?

Yup. And mahrez/foden to destroy teams that open up against city and also act as super subs. The team balance is perfect. If ederson can keep up his recent good form, they’re unbeatable

Boateng legacy lives. At least Jerome was rekt by the goat, this guy rekt himself.
I guess he didn't check himself before the game.

Upamecano dropped an all time bad performance, but some of those sloppy passes had to do with Goretzka/Kimmich/Pavard not providing a better passing option.

Wow he's been a complete flop for Bayern, and is now fighting his teammates. Needs to be binned in the summer. He's past it. He went at their best outfield player yesterday. Unbelievable.
There were reports he bitched at Naglesmann for only playing 10 minutes against PSG too. He's clearly toxic.
Also the way BILD gets these detailed reports from the Bayern dressing room in the last decade is very amusing. The mole is definitely Thomas Muller.

I think instead of developing like Aguero he might develop like Griezmann instead.
Don't think he has the swagger and ball retention to be a classic 10.

disagree, i see more Aguero in him. He has the finishing down, as well as the technique and work rate.
Griezmann was kinda unique in his own at his best.

Terrible penalty by Haaland
anyway I don't think it's a good idea for Bayern to leave Upamecano with Haaland 1v1 on the counters

Penalty miss for Haaland. Bayern can still turn things around, but Upamecano sabotaging their chances looks almost inevitable at this point
