Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
still seething over the palace game..bogey team for us, but to drop points in injury time from a freekick...felt like a loss. We beat Arsenal without Casemiro already this season but I don't think it'll happen twice sadly. Hope the players step up without him, he's been MOTM for us damn near every game since he joined..huge loss. Hope we get top 4 tbh and new owners by the summer who back Ten Hawg fully. All I care about now this season.

His injury "might" be a blessing in disguise. As good as he is, he's definitely become less consistent in recent years, which I assume is the reason why Real Madrid chose to sell him. Of course, it would be better to have him fit and ready against Arsenal, but he might avoid a slump in form later down the line by getting some rest now.

Mahrez pretty much destoryed Spurs single handedly, yet another top top performance from this man... Man C has won it but really, if they dont they would deserve criticism considering they brought in Haaland especially...

I like Mahrez, but he's about as inconsistent as they come. Sometimes he looks world class, other times he looks like he's a level below everyone else and has no interest in playing.

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
We are still here starting Kroos despite his legs being done years ago and despite him struggling to keep up with todays intensity. Had Casemiro stayed he would have been a starter 100% he was actually performing. He left because he wanted to the same way Kroos and Benz are still undecided on their contract renewals despite them being starters.Thimmy wrote:His injury "might" be a blessing in disguise. Casemiro will never be the playmaker Utd think he can be. I think it's time for them to come to terms with that fact. He is first and foremost a destroyer but also a damn good goalscorer. Those are his qualities as well as long balls. If you start thinking he can ping passes around like he is some sort of a playmaker you'll be dissapointed.
I wish he'd stayed and it was Kroos who decided to leave for greener pastures honestly but here we are in desperate need of him while the goals flood in and he helps make Utd a title contender. It looks wrong, he should have retired with us.

- United are not title contenders
- I don't think United fans expect Casemiro to be a playmaker
- @Timothy Casemiro is not injured he already picked up his 5th booking leading to a suspension despite not playing since the start of the season

I know he's not injured. I usually watch all of Man United's matches since most of my friends are fans of the club. I'm just saying that the rest he's getting may be beneficial for the club in the longer term, considering how important he is to the team. Our RM section have complained about slumps in form from Casemiro, Modric and Kroos for a few years now, but that seems to be easily forgotten as soon as they go on streaks of good to great performances, or step up their game in the Champions League.
Consistency matters if you want to challenge for titles or offer some sense of reliable quality. That's why I'll likely never be a fan of players like, Rashford, who ironically is being praised all over the internet these days because he had a few good performances after the turn of the year. It's almost as if people have forgotten how poor he was up until recently. There are players like him who seem to need certain conditions to be met in order to shine, and there are players like Mahrez, who seem to blow hot or cold based on their level of motivation. Both players can be incredibly useful when their conditions are met, but I personally prefer stable performers.

Re: 2022/2023 Premier League Discussion
Mahrez played like a man possessed in that second half. He was shit before the WC, but he's been City's best player since they've come back.
I wonder if that's due to Rico Lewis become a starter. He's way more comfortable in central spaces and moves more than Walker, which gets Mahrez more involved in the game.

This is an iconic interview. This is his rallying cry for the team to go on their usual +10 game win streak that they every title winning season. He's sending a message to the complacent guys. He normally never shits on his team in the media, but now he has to. If they don't step up, expect a City firesale this summer.

Many of them have already won two or more league titles. You can threaten people into striving towards something, but I believe sustainable motivation only comes from having a natural drive to perform.

Johan Cruyff: "After you've won something, you're no longer 100 percent, but 90 percent. It's like a bottle of carbonated water where the cap is removed for a short while. Afterwards there's a little less gas inside."
Also this City side won their 2019 and 2022 PL's in the last matchday. It takes a lot of mental strength especially when you're competing with Klopp's Liverpool.
I watched an interview where Walker and Stones both said once they've won 5 PL's they've cemented themselves as PL legends. They're at 4 now, but that kind of tells you where their mindset is. Even if City wins the PL again this season, I do kind of expect a squad shakeup over the summer. That's the only way you keep going when you have a manager who has been at the club for 7 years now.

Well said. It is a bit of a shame though, because they certainly have a really talented side when everyone decides to pull in the same direction. I find it pretty odd that Mahrez is stepping up his game when so many of the other players look like they're trying to preserve energy for something else. Pep alluded to him having lost his love for the game at the start of the season, and it showed. I wonder what's changed since then.

What did you expect. You should never trust the dutch league and you went and overpaid for him too when you could've had someone like Asensio for a third of the price.

I don't want to sound biased but that last goal would never have happened if Casemiro had been playing because that's his territory. Lost count on the amount of similar goals we have been conceding since he left...
Great game. Utd were below par but scored two great goals. Utd are a few players short from being a regular fixture in the top 3.

That was a brilliant dribble and shot by Rashford. I have to give credit where credit's due, yet I can't help but wonder how long this form of his will last for. That wasn't exactly a vintage performance by his usual standards

Passback and twirly merchant, he can spout as much as he wants about his upbringing in the toughest favela in Rio but he is set on becoming the Brazilian Sancho the way he's heading.
Wouldn't surprise me to see him in a faux fullback role in the near future
