People might say - why didn't he take the money raised so far by levers and pay off the debts? I don't think that would have been prudent. We'd have gone into further debt with negligible squad improvements.

He's doing the dirty work of forcing people out. He has very little leverage, that's why forcing out FdJ is taking this much time. It's going to be a task to get even Braithwhite out.

But keeping the objective to forward the squad and make it immediately competitive, this was the quick way to do it.

It's unethical. But hey, legal and ethical don't always coincide. And I believe he'll ensure this is just about legal.

I see us challenging in La Liga for sure. But Europe - we'll be fighting for sure, but it'll be a miracle getting past QFs with the inexperience of Xavi.

In a couple of years, the expectation ought to be higher. But this being the first rebuild year, I doubt he gets past QF and might even struggle past the last 16 if the draw is tough.

When we went on our crazy spree we just bought anyone without any thought about how they'd fit in the team we were playing. It wasn't after we got Mou who bought players for his system that we started to see cohesion so this splurge is much much better than the one we went on 2009

But Laporta has not gotten the green light for any more levers right? Which means this is the last lever you could activate. How will you sign and register Silva when this last lever just about can get your players registered. Also this is a big L for Laporta he was always unwilling to pull this last lever because he felt it was too excessive. Here we are a week before the season and you are a in a race against the clock to activate this lever AND reduce the wages of your veterans in order for your new players to be available for Sundays game. Squeakybum time!

No i think they could also sell a % of licensing and merchandising (afaik this is the one that Laporta didn’t want to do) but it’s not needed because the studios is enough

my expectations are:

fight for #1 in La Liga until the last matchday
reach CdR final (then anything can happen in a single game)
reach CL quarter-finals and put up a good fight


without Bernardo my expectations are the same but with less optimism, still think we need to sign him to rebuild properly.

Why do I fear Real fans dont have confidence of retaining their title? We strengthening a lot but Real surely still the favourites? Benz n Vini still looking on top form, so goals should be guaranteed...n the defense should only be better than last season. Unless Ancelotti reverts back to CL n not league manager n the midfield finally shows their age or something dont think we got a chance
