Lewa was great, although he didn't score. Found himself in positions but was unlucky, but he also kept the defenders busy so that Dembele had plenty of space to do his ting on the wings

Barcelona are activating the third palanca (lever).

They are selling 25% of the television rights of Barça Studios for €100million. This will mean that they can register every single one of their summer signings. https://t.co/toWJHa8Ogu

There are massive issues at Barcelona.
— Jonas Adnan Giæver (@CheGiaevara) August 3, 2022
After activating the first two palancas, Barcelona accounted for having €667, while LaLiga are only counting €517m in their audits.
That's a €150m difference. Meaning palanca three might not be enough to register all new players. https://t.co/nGXYfhA9kj

Re: Barca '22-'23
The aforementioned former Barcelona executive sets out the dilemma: “These funds like Sixth Street are being smart. Instead of being owners, where you have to operate the club, they instead get direct access to the revenue stream without the hassle of having to run the thing. You don’t get the headaches, you don’t have the fans against you. Nobody knows who you are. Who is Mr CVC or Mr Sixth Street? It can appear impersonal, which is a little scary to me. The big question mark is whether it is a good decision, medium to longer term? But Laporta doesn’t have a choice, really; it is this path or shutting down or not competing at all and becoming irrelevant, a slow way to death for a club like Barcelona. The next presidents, who follow Laporta, will deal with the repercussions.”
During negotiations with Leeds over Raphinha, Barcelona’s anxiety became apparent. For example, at one point they wanted Leeds to legally agree the player’s transfer in this window but potentially wait until the next one in January to actually process it and receive the cash for him if it turned out that Barcelona could not register him before deadline day at the start of next month. Leeds were not prepared to play ball and also stipulated that much of the money had to be paid upfront, while inserting a penalty clause into the contract, committing Barcelona to forfeiting an additional €10million if they failed to meet a fixed payment date.
One La Liga club’s chief executive, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to sensitive relations between the two clubs, has told The Athletic that his team would indisputably be injecting penalty clauses into any sales to Barcelona, such is the concern over the Catalans’ long-term ability to pay instalments.
Representatives of Barcelona players have noted how the Messi, Griezmann and De Jong contracts have all found their way into Spanish newspapers and several told The Athletic this made them suspect the leaks may have come from Barcelona themselves as attempts to put pressure on players by shaping public opinion against them. Barcelona were approached for comment. Agents of Barcelona players wonder privately who will be next, feeding a paranoia within the squad. Some wondered whether goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, whose contract is set to rise in value significantly next year, may be the next one to come under pressure.
Thank you to the Barcelona fans telling me their club is living “rent free” inside my head. I presume lever 4 will trigger their ability to pay the rent.

Re: Barca '22-'23
A couple years ago Bartomeu wanted to sell 100% of Barca Studios for 50m or something.....so 100m for 24.5% of Barca Studios doesnt sound bad
Not sure if the COPE report is true since everyone seemed to think only small details are left with regards to the registrations but this is probably because high-earning donkeys like Depay and Frenkie Ding Dong are refusing to leave even though they were told 3 months ago to look for a new club

Re: Barca '22-'23
- Spoiler:
- Barca still have some way to go before they are able to register their new signings.
The Blaugrana have buoyed the spirits of its fans with a transfer window that has seen big names strengthen each position (Kounde, Raphinha, Lewandowski...), but they need to be able to see them on the pitch. In order for that to happen, some more work is needed.
The delicate financial situation of the club has led directors to activate three financial levers in order to operate in the transfer window.
The first was the sale of 10 percent of TV rights to Sixth Street for the next 25 years for 207.5 million euros.
Then, the sale to the same company for the same period of time for another 15 percent of TV rights for 400 million euros.
And the last was the sale of 24.5 percent of Barca Studios to Socios.com for 100 million euros.
In total, Barcelona has raised 707.5 million euros for those assets.
However, Joan Laporta raised some questions marks when talking about the moves on Monday.
"I am optimistic," he said. "Let's hope LaLiga interprets it as we do."
Therein lies the key to Barcelona's summer. As reported by El Partidazo de COPE on Wednesday, the difference in valuation between the two parties stands at 150 million euros.
The one that counts is that of LaLiga, which continues to analyse all the documents carefully and in detail.
As a result, Barcelona will likely be forced to activate a fourth economic lever (which would be the other 24.5 percent of Barca Studios) if it wants to register new signings.
If they don't, they would have to sell Frankie de Jong for a figure that is considerably higher than the 80 million euros that's been floated around.
What happens if the fourth lever is activated? In that case, Barcelona wouldn't need to make a big sale because they would only have to alleviate their wage bill rather than generate cash.
For example, it would be enough for De Jong and Memphis Depay to leave, even without a transfer fee.
If one were to leave on loan and the other on a free transfer, that would be enough.
Another option would be a sharp reduction in the midfielder's salary.
More signings?
Another question is whether Barcelona can make another big signing if they activate the fourth lever.
For that to happen, they would have to make a notable sale in addition to that of De Jong.
For example, if they signed Bernardo Silva for 60 million euros for five seasons (12 million euros per season) and pay him 10 million euros (20 gross), they would have to sell a player for around 30 million euros.
At the moment, Barcelona's battle is with regards to registering their new signings.
It doesn't seem that adding more players is a realistic option, but there is still lots of time left in the transfer window.

I feel La Liga will forget about the 150m in difference and will not force Barça to activate the fourth lever (How many are there by the way ).Therein lies the key to Barcelona's summer.
