Short of declaring war on Russia and starting ww3 nothing that EU/NATO does will stop Russia immediately. But life has consequences and there is no need to allow them to freely get away with it. The message cannot be that we are too cynical to care, that just promotes what they are doing and guarantees that they will do it again and again. This is the minimum, at least make it so that they lose something for their actions. The UK should not be safe haven for Putin's circle.

Give Rincon's post another look and then come back and say Abramovich has no influence or responsibility...
Read what? A Wikipedia summary of how he got his money? anyone with a modicum of knowledge about Russia knows the story of how these billionaires got rich.
I was responding to a specific thing Myesyats said; the idea that these oligarchs are power brokers that have the ability to bring about regime change in Russia. It's simply not true. It's like saying Saudi billionaire can take on MBS
Every Russian billionaire who got in Putin's way got swiftly dealt with.

What i cant fathom is, why aren't the FA taking the brunt of the hit? As far as i am concerned, they are liable in this more so than the club. Their KYC or ownership principles test or what have you be was established for such scenarios.
Its quite a baffling situation when you have journalists asking managers and coach about their moral compass. Its almost as if they are trying to guilt trip some of them with their pointed questions. Case in point: the Eddie Howe situation, so the onus is on him that x people were executed in Saudi on Saturday? Why don't you point those questions to the men in charge, the FA.
Worse yet, is you have pundits going through mental gymnastics on both sides of the argument, its a fickle sport. But as far as i am concerned, this whole situation is being handled poorly by the goverenment and the regulator (FA), and the Chelsea drew the short end of the stick

"Abramovich and the other oligarchs have the power to take on Putin"
This was probably just a warning, one more bad move and he'll surely end up in a ditch like many before him.

Re: Abramovich sanctioned by the UK government
So just read that Chelsea being sold to Consortium led by Todd Boehly, seems like a US finance guy basically... as expected its either ppl in finance or oil states nowadays that are the most rich able to buy the best things in the world?
Anyone know what hes like n if hes a real fan? Will he continue the ways of Chelsea n continue to buy stars?
Chelsea have enjoyed so many yrs of success with Abramovich, wonder if this will continue under the new owners, football goes in cycles usually so one would think this prolly will affect them on the pitch as well, unless the new owners keep on throwing money into the club.
