Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
Which team actually has a chance of stopping City this season? In Europe even.
Other than Bayern and Liverpool I don't see anyone having a chance. Maybe PSG on a very good day.

Man C cant defend that well so not surprised they conceded 3, pretty typical. On the other wth is wrong with Leicester defending those corner lol? Clearly shows Man C has weaknesses. Whilst they played amazing football at the start, Leicester adjusted and were it not for those corners who knows
Man C definitely are beatable.

Peak Emile Heskey was just as good if not better than Cristiano Ronaldo too.
While the above comparison is hilarious, comparing Kane and Benzema is not something ridiculous at all. I dare say, I was very much of the opinion that Kane was a better CF last season (and possibly the season before that).
I would even say I probably would have wanted Kane to be Benzema's successor at Madrid as the two play that "modern" striker role extremely well but Levy wants a country's GDP for a guy who can trap and kick a ball pretty decently (also, Mbappe seems to be Flo's choice anyway).
If it helps, I remember moons ago someone compared Van Persie to Benzema and Arsenal fans here lost their shit (somehow) and thought it was sacrilege to even mentioned Big Benz in the same sentence. So seeing my fellow Madrid fans and Sports choose Benz is fair.

Rodri and Walker didn’t play. Let’s not act like Leicester were really in the game. Fact is Laporte is in horrid form and Fernandinho is finished, man city’s defense is still very good. I’m with Dany here, they are the best team in the league and Mahrez is in crazy form along with cancelo, rodri, Bernardo, foden, even sterling now lol

Pep messed up by forcing an out of form Sterling in over Foden on the left wing and isolating Mahrez from the game. And gundo at DM. That was an easily winnable game and pep has no excuses for that one

Ronaldo will fail in this league if he doesn’t start using his body and going into 50/50s
Bruno, rashford, all very poor. I feel for RR, he has a big task ahead of him

Bruno is the type of player that plays Batman in a shit team, while in a team with decent aspirations he’s like that hockey pad Batmans that Bruce beat at the beginning of TDK

Didn't watch the game. how did Varane play? i think getting rid of Ramos and Varane was the best thing Perez did last summer.

Also imagine Klopp had you believe Salah was the best player on the planet. The guy was on form for what, 3 months? He moves like a snail these days.
Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
Jota the shortest player I'd consider an aerial threat since Cannavaro.

"These days" he's the league's top scorer AND top assist provider

Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
Who cares who is the top scorer? Look at the competition. Vardy and Kane off form. City playing with no striker. His own team mate Jota is 2nd and Croydon De Bruyne is 4th! What a time to be alive.farfan wrote:danyjr wrote:Also imagine Klopp had you believe Salah was the best player on the planet. The guy was on form for what, 3 months? He moves like a snail these days.

I've watched Salah for 3 straight matches and he's been gobshite. Eyes don't like.
Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
This is not true at all. Mendy has ruptured his ACL twice, has barely played in a City shirt and is now under going under serious allegation for 7 rape cases and is jailed for it, its safe to say his career was over long ago, using him as a depth options just seem to be filling in gaps here. Cancelo and B.Silva have been starter one of the best thing Pep did was utilize Cancelo as a LB as well despite him being a RB, which has solved there LB position for the time being. B.Silva is there best midfielder for the past 2 years, he fits well with either KdB or Gundo, I'd say KdB and Gundo pairing is a much weaker midfield, it was one the reason why they had a poor 19/20 season and the season why they made a CL final and won the league last season with B.Silva.
City best XI would look like this
Sterling-KdB-Mahrez
Gundo-Rodri-B.Silva
Cancelo-Laporte-Dias-Walker
They're bench XI
Grealish-Jesus-Kayky (???)
Foden-Fernandinho-Palmer (???)
Zinchenko-Ake-Stones-???
Steffen
That is not the most stacked depth ever my man, even Pep would struggle to get that team in the top 4 yet alone challenge for the title.
The best thing for City is how they barely drop a beat when Zinchenko starts ahead of either Walker/Cancelo, or how well Jesus has done on the wings many times even out performing Mahrez, and then Foden benching Sterling and Grealish. These 3 have been largely there unsung depth hero's.
For many years I've stop judging players on their valuation due to prices going bonkers over the years. Let me ask you do you think Gomez and Matip quality wise are worse then Ake and Stones? I personally don't think so, they cost a lot more, but you throw Gomez or Matip beside Dias and Pep with his 70% possession I don't think City lose much there.
I feel because people see City options off the bench performing much higher we seem to exaggerate their depth. An example is looking at the attack depth for United, City, Chelsea and Liverpool
United: Sancho, Ronaldo, Rashford, Cavani, Greenwood, Martial
City: Mahrez, Sterling, Foden, Jesus, Grealish
Chelsea: Hakim, Hudson-Odoi, Werner, Lukaku, Pulisic, Kai
Liverpool: Mane, Firmino, Salah, Jota, Chamberlain (???), Origi, Minamino
Liverpool have it the worst here, because after Jota, there is a big decline in terms of attacking forwards. While with City, United and Chelsea there isn't much based off quality, but City are performing at a higher level, so we tend to think they're better, but this is Pep getting the best out of his group in comparison to other clubs.
