1. Simmons.
2. In a small way Embiid, too. Maybe he wasn't 100%, but he failed to be as dominant as he could've been.
3. All of the Lakers' centers.
4. Michael Porter Jr.
5. Porzingis.

Re: The Official Dwayne Wade <<<<<< you thread
1. Gobert (he has a max contract, and what we basically saw this playoffs is that he will probably never be a leading centre on a championship team? He doesn't have any noticeable offensive skills and consistency to show that he can make up for some of his perimeter defensive flaws on the offensive end, something that Capela even has. So he is basically just one of the best rim protectors the league has ever seen and that's about it.)
2. Porzingis (looked amazing in the bubble, but the guy can't stay fit for shit lol)
3. Joe Harris (just because KD had the audacity to say he is on the same level as Steph & Klay shooting-wise... he's still a good shooter though, and it's a shooter's league, so it was most likely just a mental thing that he needs to overcome in time with more playoff experience)
4. Simmons (i mean, let's be real, the guy will never develop a jump shot at this point. He is still a great all-round defender though, that can defend 1 through 5 all over the floor unlike Gobert. At this point, we know what he is now... he just needs to develop post moves and a hook shot as a go to on the offensive end to make himself useful, and obviously work on his free throws. The mental breakdown this playoffs has been hard to watch, so it will probably take a lot for him to get himself back up again... but after the breakdown comes the breakthrough)
MPJ? how?

Abysmal against Phoenix. 15 ppg on 38% shooting, both way below his averages.

One bad series doesn't negate an entire run, he was good enough against Portland to negate being on one of these lists.

I don't really understand the hate on Gobert defensively. Obviously, his offensive game is massively flawed. I do think he's fraudulent, but I don't see his defense as a problem

Yeah sorry didn't see this. This is my take on Gobert.
Anyway, fuckin hilarious that the Sixers did lose. I thought I was just being a hater by saying the Hawks would win. Get wrecked

Re: The Official Dwayne Wade <<<<<< you thread
Most of the issues weren't on Gobert tho.
They were on the likes of Royce O'Neal and other perimeter players inability to even limit dribble penetration.
Gobert had to do the work of two men to make up for his guards being incapable of staying in front of who they were guarding.
Sure there was moments he didn't react fast enough and he has weaknesses when comes to closing to shooters but he's not the reason they get torn apart like that.
His inability to punish smaller lineups is a much bigger problem which he undoubtedly deserves all the blame for.

Like I'm pretty convinced you put Anthony Davis( IMO the best front court defender in the league when healthy)
In the same situation and the outcome doesn't change much, he probably plugs up some holes but it's really hard for any big to look good when your guards are constantly allowing dribble penetration.

Yep, I started typing this about an hour ago and got distracted, and it agrees with you:
"Yeah Brook Lopez's perimeter defense is bad too but I don't get pissed at Brook for doing poorly if he gets switched onto Steph Curry"
Gobert's perimeter defense is bad, but if he's being asked to defend the perimeter either the defense has fucked up or the coach has. In terms of defending the interior the guy is as elite as can be.
But yeah he can't punish smaller lineups and that's his massive massive problem, no one can deny that. Brook Lopez, on the other hand, absolutely can

The other thing is that if the other team hits their midrange floaters and jumpers your drop defense is gonna look like shit regardless.
Bucks have had some really bad losses the last couple years just based on the fact that teams will shoot really good from midrange. Same reason Durant was able to eat so much with Lopez is. At least Lopez was generally able to take away Durant at the rim (especially at the most crucial moment), but it opened up the midrange all day
I didn't watch too much of the clippers and jazz games though. Just enough to see what was going on

Joe Harris played good against Boston and then sucked in the Bucks series and people are happily calling him a fraud.

I do.
Every play off exit is the same. Gobert is forced to guard some "non shooter" because when you pick him in the pick and roll, he drops and gives up easy jumpers. So, they put him on Mann and unfortunately for him, Mann can shoot and killed the Jazz from deep.
Then at the rim, there was many plays the man didnt even contest. He is obviously a good shot blocker, but only when you try and sneak around him, when you take right at him, he has no impact. He is frankly soft.
Theres a couple of good youtube vids out there breaking some of this down.

AD is another one. SOFT.
When he turns it on, he is the best, but he spends various moments of the game avoiding contact and isnt as effective at the rim as he could be.
I think if you put Embiid, who isnt afraid to challenge things, there is a different outcome.

i disagree on AD
at least AD will get his offensively, soft night or not, more often than not... and he defends the perimeter better than Gobert when forced to

I agree AD is obviously, usually, going to put up his points when healthy and is miles better defensively on the perimeter, in fact that is where he is undisputed number 1 among big defenders IMO.
But I just meant at the rim, he is soft and doesnt challenge shots enough for my liking.

Well, you don't exactly need a rim protecter against Clippers.
AD would definitely have won them that series, healthy. Especially with Kawhi out.

I don't disagree, i was mainly using it as an example because i feel like their guards did a horrendous job that barely any center is gonna look good against.
Also Freeza is right, i ignored offence when giving this example and AD would definitely abuse all those small lineups.
But again the offence being absolutely anemic is a much bigger issue imo.

Stupid call to give that Beverley poke on Booker a Clippers ball (with 8 or so seconds remaining). Against the spirit of the sport, imo.

Well, that's a tough one for the Clippers lol. Playoff George misses both free throws and then they let Ayton tip it in straight from an inbound pass with less than a second remaining lmao.

Seems very Paul George to make all the big plays down the stretch to get the Clippers in position to win then miss both Free Throws.
Phenomenal play by Ayton, great screen from Booker and fantastic call by Monty tho.
This series so far is going about as expected in the sense in terms of Clippers having zero answers for Ayton.

Re: The Official Dwayne Wade <<<<<< you thread
the plan last night was basically just double team Booker, and beat him up along the way and see if the rest of the Suns can get the W. Credit to Cam Payne though, they couldn't stop him as well lol (@CBucks am i still not worthy enough of an apology?)
great play call at the end as well, every passing game PHX looks more and more like a championship team. Hopefully CP3 is back for game 3, any new news on him yet?
