Pretty sure it's against rules to disclose it, which might be why not a lot of reporters have confirmed it. And the phrase "Health protocols" etc. is basically code for tested positive. But a very reputable Suns reporter confirmed he did indeed test positive.

He's vaccinated, so it's possible he only misses 1, max 2 games. Since a typical covid case on a vaccine is much shorter. Gleiber Torres of the Yankees got Covid and was ready to play in 7 days.

The 76ers have lost games in this series by 4, 3 and 3 points. In those losses Simmons's free throws were 3/10, 1/5 and now 4/14.

Philadelphia basically win / get overtime in at least two of those games if Simmons was even an average ft shooter.

Do you buy into the old-new school arguement. That being SVG is just too tough and old school and these modern players cant take it?

I say this to say, I know SVG is one of the very best coaches with X and O's so I refuse to believe its that.

I want to root for them, just because I like their players, but my lord, what the hell.

Dont even know what to say at this point. This series should already be over.

Also, gotta give Wayoff P his due today, he came to play and did a great job. I dont trust him so we will see about game 6 and/or 7.

I don't personally, i just feel like there was too many things working against him.

Implementing actual defensive principles and teaching them how to win during a pandemic was always a tough ask.

It didn't help that the roster itself was badly built, whomever the next coach is will need to be supported much better.

They need to get this right tho, they can't afford to fuck this up.

I'm all the way out on Ben Simmons, i don't care how good he is defensively the dude makes Draymond look like MJ on the offensive side.

I genuinely would trade him.

Also I'm happy for Paul George, people really hate him tho. They were damn quiet on twitter last night lol.

I have always been out on Simmons if we think he will be an elite player.

As soon as I realised he is shooting jumpers with the wrong hand and refuses to change, it was doomed.

I see him as a Lamar Odom. Auxiliary, utility player who can do alot of different things but too flawed to ever lead a team.

Am i going insane or didn't Giannis guard KD in the first two games and got cooked lol? I just figured they went away from it because he doesn't have the lateral movement defensively to guard him effectively.

In spots, but not consistently and I was more talking about game 5 because he was only on him for 2 possessions. Both of which didnt end in score but KD got whatever he wanted tbf.

Dont get me wrong, I dont think he or even Holiday can do anything with him. But just from a pride stand point id expect Giannis to take him, especially as he doesnt need to "save himself" for offence, the way he plays.

Coaching wise, Bud is messing up. Tucker doesnt give you anything on offence so one legged Harden can stand around "guarding" him meanwhile Tucker isnt effective on KD without fouling.

Might aswell put another offensive player out there and have Giannis take KD and get cooked no worse than Tucker would.

Giannis guarded KD a decent amount the first and second game. He has occasionally switched on him in games 3 and 4 when a switch is required, but didn't guard him often.

I think Mole is right here. Giannis is an incredible defender, but KD is a step too quick for him, and Giannis is too big to fight over screens the way Middleton, Tucker, or Jrue are able to. Giannis could and should occasionally switch onto KD, and I don't have the stats, but the eye test is that Giannis hasn't done a very good job on KD

Giannis is amazing as a help defender too, so this is a situation where he's probably better utilized as help than as primary defender on KD, especially since he needs to be the main man on offense.

I'm not personally too fussed about it. I think the screens are a big part of it. With Butler, Giannis could go under all day and just destroy Butler's gameplan of getting to the hoop and bait him into midranges. With KD, Giannis can't go under, and KD's midrange is way, way, way better than Butlers. Huge difference between guarding those two.

Simmons is a true beta. I've been out on Simmons for a long time.

It was true in college and it's true in the NBA. He doesn't really care about improving much. He's extremely happy with who he is and doesn't think he needs to change for anyone. Dude is getting paid and living the life. Props to him, but if I were a sixers fan I'd want him gone.

For that same reason, I dont think he can guard him. He cant navigate screens and even straight iso, KD can go by him, so Giannis gives him room, but then KD can get him to bite on the cross still.

Not a big deal, but I always find it strange that on crucial moments, the best player isnt trying to take the other teams best player when nothing else is working.

Still not sure why Jrue/Middleton wasn't going at Harden, the man can barely move.

I think that's a more obvious (likely successful adjustment) than anything related to KD.

Agree but with Harden out there, I am seeing Holiday not give help off him because he is still a threat. Therefore, KD is playing 4v4 with so much more space. I dont think they can try and take everyone else away unless Harden and Kyrie are off the floor. Them playing, even banged up, is creating havoc.

They did a little but with Tucker out there, Harden had alot of posessions hiding out, not having to work much.
