Re: Europa League R16: Manchester United vs AC Milan
This rushed drive pass lobbing really is killing any vibe Milan have in trying to create a goal. How is this even allowed by any coach

Milan
at some moments I felt I am watching Liverpool of last 2 months. All good moves, got the ball lots of time in the box but just couldn't finish any of the chances.

This is one of the better performances I've seen from Pogba in recent years. As close as it gets to a big game performance against a team that isn't Arsenal, at least.

Cant figure out if Man Utd are the worst good team in the world, or the best shit team. They have done next to nothing to win this tie.

Rate their players from 1 to 10, and I think you'll find the answer to that question.

Never thought the day I would dread seeing Milan playing in San Siro given the stark contrast between Milan home and Milan away.

I will never find it pleasing to ever watch a team rush the ball into the box as if it will actually create chances outside of happenstance. Its how half of Llorente's career was misused and abused.
Its also how Ibra is barely getting the ball either.

Lobbing the ball into the box to try and score is akin to trying to create success in your life by attempting for the lottery.
Terrible game plan for the second half.

Milan this half;
-Chip the ball over the top to 39 year old Ibra
-Long ball and crosses, Kessie win the second ball maybe?
-give away needless freekick, throws and corners.

As if it hasn't been clear that despite his height, Zlatan could not care less to play in the air.
He prefers it at his feet but yes two stints later lets just lob it to him and hope for the Swede to anchor the ball.

Re: Europa League R16: Manchester United vs AC Milan
fully deserving of going through tonight
created the best chances BY FAR across both games, only conceded late on due to poor GKing in the first leg
this second game should have been a formality, and Milan did nothing all night on their own ground
light work

I can safely say, I am more technically gifted than Tomori. Dreadful touch.

Bait.
United barely could even create against a Milan B team and had to capitalise on a false handball on Kessie first leg.

Re: Europa League R16: Manchester United vs AC Milan
Pioli the loser of tonight.
No decisive in his game plan. Somehow thought being a total yuppie by playing Samu as False 9 would work.
Made changes too late. Did not prevent the "Run down the clock" Mentality Milan took in approach to the second half, which absorbed pressure immediately and resulted in the most comical defending all season, for Pogba's goal.
Im done with this season.

Re: Europa League R16: Manchester United vs AC Milan
Congratulations to United.
I think the teams were evenly matched, and it went to the wire. Pioli got his selection wrong in the first half (freaking Castelscrub as the CF) and wasted the few good chances they had.
We played better away from home and should have done more to score there.
This is the story of this season, which is honestly better than any Milan fan expected.
Good enough to compete with the better teams, but not good enough to win.

Without knowing the full context of Milan's season, I agree.
It seemed like they were almost waiting untill Ibra arrived. the collective strategy seemed to be lets just wait and see, perhaps we score, perhaps not, but lets wait for Ibra.
Then he gets on the pitch he you stopped playing any football. The ball spent much of the game in the air and if anything, you seemed less likely to score.
Man Utd are horribly weak when you isolate the centerbacks in the wide areas, not once did we see that. Not because of anything Utd did, but because it didnt seem a focus at all.

Re: Europa League R16: Manchester United vs AC Milan
Worst part of it all was the failure to capitalise on United who were not the least bit impressive. Early season Milan, or more so not such a weakened Milan would ravage this team.
God good they were terrible and its embarrassing losing to a team we dominated for 3 and a half, halves.
The eternal hope for revenge for that UCL tie in which SAF knocked out Leonardo's Milan, will have to wait again. FFS Pioli

This basically is the ceiling for Pioli. Always comes in to show good results and management with players young and old. But often shows his limits as a generally mid-table at best Italian manager and never goes beyond that or really learns from his mistakes.
He basically is an Italian Owen Coyle.

By the tie Ibra came in, we have already lost the game.
Miete and Krunic were out of the game and with them, our Midfield were overrun with Kessie expected to do the heavy lifting. Also, Cala is just back from injury and is not fully match fit.
Kalulu isn't half as good as Calabria in moving the ball and distribution, and Theo is less effective without a ball playing Left-wing in his flank.
Generally, it is a bad idea to bring in Ibra as a sub when chasing a goal, as the tea loses its rhythm. When we start the match with him, it is much more focused.
So, Milan, since the begging of the year, are playing worse because of losing key players to injury and fatigue, and the coach wasn't able to arrest that terrible form. Alternatively, we can say that Milan was running on pure belief for a while which was shattered with the dual losses to Atalanta and Inter (in the Coppa Italia).

Re: Europa League R16: Manchester United vs AC Milan
Problem with subbing on Ibra let alone having him on the pitch is the game goes to his pace when on field even when he is not controlling the ball. And since he is not exactly urgent with his off-the-ball movement it was too little too late to adapt.
Yes Henderson saved United there from his header but the team instruction to rely solely on him made us predictable and lost any dominance established first half.
I dont like excuses or making them but this match could not have been timed worse than it was, today. Injuries, fatigue, form etc.
