So why are the hundreds of rioters not just all charged with like 5 deaths?
First things the democrats need to do is to prevent a civil war. I know the possiblity seems remote but the rightwings needs some cooling down and weakening before they could be properly prosecuted.
Did Hitler cool down after Austria, Czechoslovakia were handed over to him?

Yeah Trump really distracted me from how disappointed I also was by the Obama administration for their 8 year drone war and the continuation of the human rights violations in Guantanamo and foreign torture prisons...

A trump tweet for literally every occassion. He's not even on Twitter anymore and there are more than enough to compensate.
As for the impeachment proceedings, I've watched the House given their comments and it's clear as day to me that Republicans have zero compelling arguments. Every single one they've attempted rings hollow and is just hypocritical.

Republicans have no argument other than Trump leaving office in a week anyway, but he's a traitor and it doesnt mean if it's 4 days or 4 years left. Spineless.

Why is Trump being impeached even after losing the election?

suspend $200k pension, secret service and his ability to be able to run again or hold public office
and also set precedent that trying to overthrow the government means you have to face consequences.

Not really clear for me. So even though he lost the democratic election, he is refusing to leave the White house on the day he has to hand over the presidency? So the regular process here is impeachment?
I am a noob when it comes to political processes, apologies.

Re: Donald Trump Sack Watch
Im no expert either but impeachment is a separate process.
in theory Trump has agreed concede on the 20th but he's been signaling to right-wing nutjobs all along to overthrow the government and there's no mistaking it.
so impeachment is just to get rid of him earlier before his term ends, because 7 days is still a lot to make trouble and he's clearly unstable and deranged.

Okay so if I understand correctly, the country leaders have had enough of Trump and don't want to take another risk for the remaining days so they are calling this impeachment process a bit earlier than the final day to avoid any future planned activity?
This makes sense.

Yeah pretty much. Impeachment is only called if the president has comitted any crimes so to speak. The vice president also has the ability to invoke the process if the president is clearly deranged and poses a present danger to the people/country
He's mentally unstable and should be fired immediately.
However the trial will probably be 2-3 weeks from now so Trump will finish his term anyway. Thank that *bleep* McConnell for that.

As a consequence to all the madness that culminated in his base storming the capitol to prevent the confirmation of the next president.
He will step down in a week regardless but its about setting precedent. There need to be consequences for these actions. Also, he won't be allowed to run again if the senate convicts him.
Doubt it will go through though, republicans don't give a shit and they control the senate.

Re: Donald Trump Sack Watch
10 Republicans is more than I thought. A welcome gesture, yet a hollow one given how silent and supportive they've been of Trump's agenda all along. That this was their breaking point with him and nothing else he's said or did, is reprehensible.
It took 5 people to die for them to see Trump the way the rest of us do. That type of depravity is a stain Republicans will bear for decades to come.

Re: Donald Trump Sack Watch
Also the point of impeaching and removing Trump at this point is purely about national security.
He has 7 days left of his term, but we've seen that it takes him very little time at all to incite mobs to violently do his bidding. For 7 more days, he will have access to the nuclear codes. For 7 more days, he has the ability to issue executive orders that can impact all aspects of American life.
For 7 more days, Trump remains a danger to this country. 7 days is too long for him to remain in power. He has to be impeached and removed for that reason. Despite what Republicans say, his promises of a peaceful transition are hollow given what happened last week. He warned us 4 years ago he'd do just what he did last week if he lost his re-election campaign. He's far too dangerous to be anywhere near the power the office wields, even with 7 more days left.
He's broken his oath of office. Doesn't matter if its 7 days or 700, he's got to be held accountable for that.

He’s already been impeached once.
He’s just not been removed from office.

First president to be impeached twice and also the most bipartisan impeachment in history. Unbelievable legacy he will leave behind

Agreed. The Senate will drag their feet, because they don't have the will to do what the House did.
Trump will likely remain free, but the price (far too small in my estimation) for inciting this mob must be his political aspirations for the future, which means his inability to run for elected office, at any level, in the future. That type of justice needs to happen, even if it takes longer than 7 days.

Dems want to make a show of impeaching him and "holding him to account"Nishankly wrote:Why is Trump being impeached even after losing the election?
McConnel/GOP Establishment wants him impeached so he can't run as an independent again in 2024 and ruin that election for them

Re: Donald Trump Sack Watch
And as far as I'm concerned republicans should also be committed to this because trumpism is causing the party to sink with him. Lindsey Graham is as spineless as republicans get and will flip whichever way the wind is blowing but he was right once in 2016 when he claimed trump would destroy the republican party if he were to be nominated. They need to renounce him now in this historic impeachment process. The most impeachable president ever. Nobody more impeachable.....tremendous.

Perfect chance for the republicans to distance themselves from the potus in order to strengthen their position for the next election. Expect shitstorm and more distancing from teh future from them, they'd tell their followers Trump was the evil not them, he is to blame for everything
