Lucas Paqueta is better than you think
What a gem this guy has been for us. Can play both the 10 and 8 roles, ridiculous workrate, solid defense, outstanding ball retention skills, quick one touch passing and an off the chart football IQ. He even outshone Aouar in the past couple games.
He'll leave for Ndombele-level money in 2 years.

Re: Lucas Paqueta is better than you think
In the end one must know a player is also a product of his coach and mental state of confidence within a situation.
I never grew to like Paqueta since he was cringe off field and rather aimless on field paired with the hype but the potential always was there.
He is under Rudi Garcia who is well known for his effect on young players and less tactical approach so for all we know it brought out the freedom Lucas needed in order to be...not shit for once.

Good to see him in a club and under a coach that can utilize his potential

Re: Lucas Paqueta is better than you think
I never liked his attitude on the pitches, always opting for flicks and showmanship rather than practicality. Most of the time he couldn't pull it off. I'm honestly surprised he's doing well as you say, i suspect he'll be heading to PSG as he was a Leonardo signing, and he also has a good rapport with him.

Cristante, Locatelli, Paqueta, all midfielders who thrived after leaving Milan...
We are absolutely terrible at developing youth. Players like Leao and Hague should leave if they want to get better. Or we need someone like Rangnick who can actually develop and nurture players well.

Cristante is ass, C+ player, Roma is his level - On other teams he would be on the bench
Locatelli was the trade-off for Kessie and his development
Paqueta came in January and had an Ozil-like impact with Piatek, he thrived in Milan actually, however upon Giampaolo's addition and the shift to 4-3-1-2 he declined and felt unsettled before he left.
Quite the contrary, Pioli had the best impact of development compared to all our previous coaches (bar Sinisa maybe)
-Kessie, Completely changed him
-Calabria, was about to be sold before Pioli came and gave him the best season of his career
-Theo, took him to the next level (Can't believe Ricardo Rodriguez used to start over him)
Others like Leao, Bennacer, Gabbia and Kalulu have seen more regular minutes and upped their all around game.
As much as i hate to let go of potential prospects, i really think some of the cases would've been better off in a non-Milan environ, the good thing is we are in no short supply of talent in the pipeline. We have Roback, Frigerio and Jungdal, 3 great young players that will hopefully make an impact in the years to come.
Don't be distressed about Pobega leaving, i've seen him, he's not the profile we're looking for in midfield. Plus we're already stacked as is

Pessina transfered to Atalanta from Milan as well.
Also, selling Pobega without a buyback looks like it could be a costly mistake.

Would have been nice to have Cristante over Krunic and Meite...
Agree on Pioli having a better effect than previous coaches. Kessi, Bennacer, and Theo all are doing quite well under him but I don't really rate his work with the likes of Gabbia and Kalulu, players he was forced to play because of injuries. With attacking players in particular he has been doing nothing of note.
Lets see how Tomori develops next season. Jury's still out on him despite a good start. I have a feeling Tonali is gonna be another Locatelli and do much better in a different club in two years.

Re: Lucas Paqueta is better than you think
Paqueta is LOL.
Never displayed a thing of note at Milan and has zero footballing intelligence.
I'm willing to believe he is better at Lyon but I don't really care how he performs for Brazil given the level of football for the Copa América is diré.

Well, he had a better season than all of our other midfielders, Aouar included.

Nobody showed up for Brazil yesterday. He's had a stellar tournament overall.

Just match it with "Thiago is an EPL flop" to make it even.
