Re: Liga @ Levante
Looking at the squad list, pretty much all areas look decent to me except for the attack.
Courtois has improved a lot which is just amazing.
The defense can still be improved on, but what we have is still good.
I see a lot of talent in the midfield even though we still haven't found the right formula, so I'm not that worried there either.
What worries me however is the glaring weaknesses of the attack. Looking at all the names there, none of them is a consistent goalscorer:
1. Benzema is simply inconsistent. Sometimes he can give you a GOAT performance that leaves you in awe. Other times, he just completely disappears. That's why pairing him up with a more consistent goalscorer is a must if you want to get the best out of him and not be worried about him not scoring in games where every goal counts.
2. Asensio is an overhyped mental midget and I stopped a long time ago rating him.
3. Lucas V is not starter material, I think we can all agree. I don't mind having him as a late sub, but he's definitely not in the discussion here, especially when it comes to goalscoring.
4. Vini has a lot of talent, but I'm beginning to think that goals are not really his forte. He can provide other things, but you should definitely not expect him to bail you out every time you need a goal.
5. I'm still undecided about Jovic. I think Madrid, and particularly Zidane, didn't treat him fairly, but I also think he didn't take advantage of the little time he was given to prove him wrong. I think he can still do well elsewhere, but not at Madrid.
6. Rodrygo: I think he's just another overhyped youngster and shouldn't be relied on for goals.
7. Hazard: He has never been a reliable goalscorer and I don't think he'll change now at 29.
Bottom line is, with the squad Madrid has right now, only the league seems a realistic target to me. I don't think we have a strong enough attack to compete in the CL.
Of course, with the pandemic, it's understandable, and even wise, that the club has decided not to make any more signings, especially after spending (and not so wisely) more than 300m the summer before. But I think come 2021 or 2022, the club needs to make drastic changes to the attack if they want to stay competitive in Europe.

Re: Liga @ Levante
Line up:
Lets see what our new number 11 has to offer or does he not want any responsibility as usual
Given our personnel looks like a good line up. Would probably have Odegaard in there over Asensio oh well
Tibu
Nacho-Varane-Ramos-Mendy
Valverde-Casemiro-Modric
Asensio-Benz-Vinicius

Re: Liga @ Levante
this is the start of the season, no preseason like in a normal year, give time to the team to warm up and when they start repeating games, their fitness and form will both improve.
What you can't afford is losing games when you are still building up fitness. You are thinking about CL too early imo
1. winning is all that matter now
2. avoid injuries
3. time will take care of the rest. If the potential of this team is limited to competing in la liga, that's fine.

Re: Liga @ Levante
I don't know. Zidane has been here for over an year. No major changes to the squad either yet the team really have no identity. No tactics to attack, transition defense is weak. The static defense is the only positive about the team.
Re: Liga @ Levante
Why would you expect Zidane's team to have an "identity" after you have known him for so long? This is like you dont know who he is, or maybe you were expecting more? No, Zidane is here to for balance, unity, etc... a star coach that manages the squad extremely well. With Zidane, players have to shine through, and he will do all he can to allow them to do so.

Re: Liga @ Levante
He is coming in to support the right side
Valverde has been terrible in the midfield today. i dont see him supporting Casemiro much, he is busier running forward

Re: Liga @ Levante
Glad we won. But making curtois save this much shots every game is just a lucky strategy that is going to back fire in crucial games.
Re: Liga @ Levante
Benz has attempted the most shots in the league this season
Where is Chad to tell us everyone bar Benz are selfish
That was excruciating to watch. Terrible
Only Tibu was up for it

Re: Liga @ Levante
nice 3 points, the game waas on and off for me, sometimes i'd be like what the hell sort of defending is that? the thing i'm confident about most is the defense. they're making it tough on teams, and i hope that continues. it isnt always fun, but for now let's get as many points as we can tally
