I'm not saying Roberto is the better defender, just that he is more experienced and wouldn't have the urge to constantly join the attack instead of staying at the back like Dest would being young and inexperienced.

Juve were a really lost team though, maybe Im over critical, but these two past CL games must have been the easiest who have had for a long time... really CL groups are a joke these days, so wouldnt judge too much from these. Both Juve and us are gonna get through anyway, the other two teams are just like tier 3 level lol...

Very good game... enjoyed every bit of it. I won't mind with few losses if we play enjoyable football like this.
Pedri what a player, he is so good and confident with ball. I never felt like he would lose or mispass it. I just want Ansu to start and Dembele to come as a super sub. Ansu as a sub looked clueless. Very good game from Dembele too. He has insane speed and dribbling ability but he becomes clueless into the box. Both Fati and Dembele should start taking their chances. I mean "Just shoot man...you are inside the box, see the huge post and yet asking your brain what to do!!"

I'm mostly suprised by Pedri's defensive output, he recovered the ball so many times without losing it once when he had it at the feet... I understand why Koeman trusts him so much since he doesn't make any errors.

The roulette was also nice, he was toying with Cuadrado on that left side.

Another decision against us. FDJ with a sitter, gets a blatant shove in the back. No penalty given.
Dembele had a couple of bad giveaways but created 2 great chances by destroying the LB. Extreme pace that we sorely lack. Lenglet probably our best player. Great defense and wonderful passing to create 2 goal scoring chances.
And its time to move on from the Messi era. The magic too has disappeared. Worst player on the pitch and got the ball stolen countless times while offering nothing off the ball. Cant get past a freaking Alves player. Says it all.
And the sooner we implement a press the better. Its 2020 and we are the only team in pro football which doesnt have a pressing game. And if there were folks out there who questioned the importance of a press, look no further than their goal. A press is not optional in the modern game, it is a mandatory requirement.

Wow! Didnt expect that admission. He was the worst player on the pitch again. We would have won had he been substituted instead of Fati or Dembele. He has 3 open play goals in the last 24 games or something. While providing jack off the ball. I had to quit after the equalizer but agreed, worst Messi match I've watched in a while. He had an eventful summer, have to wonder if his motivation is all there as he promised.

Yep. All high IQ, high technique and mature beyond their years. One thing our youngsters lack compared to Madrid's is pace. In the modern game, which is an athlete's game; pace is crucial. Except Dembele, none of our talented youngsters have elite pace.

What game did you watch. In the last 30 minutes messi was the only threat created 2 chances and did many dangerous shoots. Where was griezman dembele and fati? They cant do anything other than back passes. Messi takes the risk and loses the ball.its normal. But he also dribbled many times, his two shots came after dribbling.
Team lost points and it was GK's mistake. But lets forget everyone and bash messi. Messi had bad games this season but this was not one of them

Like I mentioned I stopped watching at the 60th minute mark so if Messi stepped up his game after that I didn't get to see it. The Messi that I saw was lethargic and ineffective, although of course he always has nice passes and dribbles sprinkled throughout any match. But it's also clear he doesn't have the same chemistry with Griezmann and Fati that he did with prior forwards.

And I don't think anyone blamed him for the loss? Certainly it was due to a GK mistake

Don't bother with the usual suspects. Messi beat 13 players, had 10 shots and 5 key passes. 9.40 whoscored might be the highest score ever without goal or assist. Stopped watching after Neto brainfart, so don't know if those are accurate, but to that point easily the best player on the field.

Just cause I acknowledge Messi's demise doesn't me he was the worst player on the pitch. Far from it. And as long as Griezmann plays he will take the crown. He scored a goal yet missed 2 excellent chances earlier.

You can shove all the stats you want but your boy was gutter trash. This is not American football. He was the worst player on the pitch by a country mile and no stats will change that.
The last 30 minutes that the poster above mentions, he was even worse and it was a microcosm of everything that is wrong with his game and which negatively impacts our game. Zero movement whatsoever. Moving towards the ball instead of away to make space, dropping 3 yards next to Pjanic, trying the same thing over and over in spite of it not working, forcing everything to go through him evcven though he is gutter trash now. And last but not least disgraceful leadership as a captain. Same depressing, mental midget crap we saw against Roma, Juventus, Liverpool, Bayern. A mental midget who just doesnt have what it takes to pull the team through when the going gets tough. He just doesnt have that champion mentality in him like the other GOATS. The mentality that CR has who wills his teams to victory from lost situations. And now he has lost the one player who enabled him to shine in his twilight years. Suarez enabled Messi to put up stats last few years and with him gone, we see him for the atrocious player he now is.
Stop posting stats and watch the game. A team is supposed to be greater than the sum of its parts. And not less. Every Messi team is less than the sum of its parts and every player he plays with performs below potential. That's a stat for you.

Problem with Messi is that he used to score out of nowhere or at least convert most of his half chances. He hasn't been doing that recently, and that's why I think he might be on his way down. But Cristano had a similar spell at this age but picked himself back up. Messi can do it too, especially after the horrible summer he had.

Guess what. While you and others have been kissing Messi's ass, I have been calling out the mental midget. For 8 long years. That's right. Since Pep's last season. The 2011/12 season. I have been calling him out ever since he started moving away from the Cruyff way of playing. And guess what, I have been right every single time; over and over and over and over while you cry yourself to sleep when your hero fails and crumbles over and over and over.

I have been calling out this chump and mental midget and repeatedly said we would fail with this chump leading us. And guess what, I have been right time after time after time after freaking time.
Lets see. steamrolled by Bayern 7-0 in 2013 with this chump leading us. Lost to Atletico next year while this chump goes missing as usual. Lose again to Atletico in 2015/16 while this chump goes missing.
Lost again the next year in a humiliating way. 3-0 against an average Juve side while this chump goes missing. Nvm that there was an even worse humiliation in the previous round. 4-0 against freaking PSG while this chump goes missing. Would have been another humiliation if not for a champion all time great performance from Neymar while this mental midget went missing.
Lost to freaking Roma in 17/18 by 3-0 while this chump went missing. Humiliated again the next year 4-0 by Liverpool while this chump went missing. And last but not least curb stomped by Bayern last year 8-2 while this chump went missing.

8 years I have been calling out this chump and I have been proven right every single time. No top 50 player has such humiliations in their resume. None. I'm glad I missed the game becaue it's so frustrating to see us miss so many great chances.

not worried though, not long ago we couldn't even create this many, plenty of chances just need to improve the conversion rate.

And its pretty clear by now that Busquets' minutes should be limited and Pjanic needs to be the starter i don't know what koeman is thinking but thats the first thing i'd have done as coach. Busi can come in when we're leading comfortably so that Pjanic can rest, thats the only option.

On another day, we would have won this 2-1. In another season, this 1-1 wouldn't seem too bad. We are 4 games without a win, that's why it looks appalling now.

It's clear as day that Busquets shouldn't be starting. Pjanic, no matter how slow, contributes way more that Busquets.

Messi... sigh.... what do we say now? As usual the truth is in between the both extremes. He's been more bad than good this season though. Also, i just don't understand why he's not given any rest? I mean, he's clearly gassed on so many occasions (on the ball, off the ball he offers 0 movement anyway). What's the point of playing him every match, 90 mins if he's not going to be able to run in his attacks? I mean do we really need to play him against Ferencaros?
