3-1 Haaland. And 4-1 Guerreiro. Game over, I guess.

5-2. Quadruple for Haaland. Hertha scores from the penalty spot.

I suppose this would've been a good confidence booster for Haaland, following his poor performance in the last match against Bayern. Then again, I'm not sure if he needs it after having just won the Golden Boy award.

Moukoko had his debut. He didn't score, but he showed good movement. Seems like a perfect fit for Dortmund.

Haaland seems to me like the CR7 type of player who doesn't need external motivation so to speak as he is very driven to always keep striving for the higher ground and it comes naturally to him.

I get the same impression. Like Cristiano Ronaldo, he also spends extra time honing his physique. Couldn't help but be reminded of the former, when I saw his injury update tweet. those thighs Laughing

I don't know what his workout routines are, and I can't seem to find them anywhere, but everywhere he goes, his team mates seem to mention that he puts massive effort into his workouts, training sessions, and Yoga.

I've also noticed that he always seems to spend part of his vacation time doing manual labor together with his dad. I could never be that disciplined, myself Laughing I miss working out on a regular basis, but I need my rest days/cheat days and lazy vacations just as much as Eden Hazard does hmm

Muller is such a flexible, intelligent and effective player, just amazing. I used to not rate him much, but hes shown over so many years why hes so good...

Sane is still settling in it seems? Is the right best for him? Or the left? Since he doesnt seem too comfortable and are becoming a bit like Mahrez cutting in more instead of being of more a winger?

Bayern definitely weakened a lot by no Thiago and Kimmich though.

great game but conceding three against these scrubs is unaccpetable
our defense is absolute crap and they need to get their act together

Süle atrocious for Forsbergs goal, Pavard defensively suspect as always

it's ironic that Boateng is our best performing defender again and he was supposed to be offloaded since years

Sané has been poor when starting. Can't claim to start over Coman (who's very good at the moment) or Gnabry in this current form and should be used as a super sub, as which he's been very impactful

Cool... I still think Bayern are so loaded, they shouldnt have problem to retain their trophies, especially if they get Kimmich back soon.

Defending though definitely a bit of a weakness. Do u think its purely the players issue? Or more a result of Flick's tactics of pressing and playing so high? Im not sure but Germany tend to like these big tall CBs in order to compete physically but lack pace quite badly? Sule, Boateng, Hummels, etc....

Süle doesn't lack pace, he's actually pretty fast, deceptively so considering his size,  though he might have suffered a bit since the ACL injury and he's also struggling with fitness.
Boateng used to be famous for his pace but he's lost most of it by now, nowadays after each sprint he needs treatment or to come off lmao. Still, he's performing great again within his reduced physical means.

At the moment, our defensive performance is lacking badly IMO mainly because our players are knackered both physically and mentally.
Our defense was never good sitting back and inviting pressure, not since over a decade, and it's become quintessential both to our style and oursuccess to defend high, press up front, set running opponent attackers offide as often as possible.
It's why we are successful, it's how we want to play, it's how the players want to play, and it's fantastic and how Flick has revived and developed this part of our game which Kovac wasn't intellectually up to maintaining. I love our style of football at the moment.

It's high risk, high reward, but the risk at the moment dominates the scale as our team, our players simply can't muster the physical quickness, as well as the mental presence and alert aggression to maintain enough pressure. They are tired, they make mistakes and they are too sloppy in possession to control the game enough to keep the constant threat of counters at bay that comes with our high position.

And the loss of Thiago compounds exactly these problems, because he was the player who embodied both agression against the ball in midfield and good, strategic control with it.

Even with Kimmich, that loss was noticeable but of course Kimmich is missing now too, as is Tolisso.

I mean I'm not surprised, they played a CL final 3 months ago and are already past MD 5 now and 10 games into the league.
I have had a hard time bringing up motivatio to watch lmao, can't imagine how it is for them. On top of Corona, which is depressing and putting a damp on life for everyone, not least players who are in the bubble constantly.

But we have to get our act together, this is not ok. We've conceding unbelievable many goals already.

I see, agree with everything except just the part about motivation to watch more Very Happy A great team is always good to watch Razz But yea, its typically one of the biggest problems successful teams have to face after their highs, and especially during this difficult time.

U mentioned Bayern has tried to play this way I guess more or less for a decade and are used to it. Actually sounds a lot like big part of Barca's game, or any of the teams that tried this way on and off, but its been proven time and again u need the right ingredients for it to work well - motivation/hunger, fitness/speed, right tactics, and right players to pull off, hence the cycle of success and downturn... I still think Flick can do it though this season again, still better than any other team out there.

Dortmund got absolutely slaughtered today. I doubt it would've made a difference if Haaland had played. What an awful team performance. Bayern pull ahead.

Is it just me or is it a bit premature? Seems strange to sack a coach who’s generally done quite well after a few bad games.

I would question the timing but as a team Dortmund are not progressing, despite having the second best scorer in the league and Sancho. You retain your big names to move forward as a team, not to stagnate. They need to try something else

Maybe. But in general, the whole club and the board gave off the vibe of not being too enthused about Favre for a long time now.
He's had bad moments before, and he managed to stabilize the performances afterwards, but he was under suspicion already.
On top, his contract runs out in summer and it was rather clear the club would not want to continue with him past that, which surely serves to undermine his authority in the team. It might be a slow downward slope which they decided to stop early.

But you're right that it's a strange timing in so far as there's no apt successor in sight as far as I can see.

I'd try to go for Poch if I was them but probably not really feasible.
