Re: The 20/21 Season
Used to think signing players from whitin Premier League for inflated fees was lazy business but it has changed over the last few years
Lots of good PL players who would still see us as step up and would deffo improve us and of course bigger clubs woudnt sign all of them

Re: The 20/21 Season
Get an experienced coach in, give him 1st season to work with what we have and then some control in recruitment from his 2nd season. It has shown to be working formula in modern football time and time again and once he couldn't deliver, sack and repeat. To me, there is no stability in modern football anymore, stability is when club holds high standard and acts fast whenever they have to. Look at Chelsea, Lampard got sacked for a lot less than Arteta.
The backing part is so important now, Mou was a disaster whenever he didn't have backing and Lukaku has shown this season what a perfect system player can do for the team. I'm not too worried about Edu, to me he's a yes man for now, he will go for whichever players needed once Simeone or Conte grab him by the balls.
Bottom line is Arteta out, get established and experienced coach in, no more ex player then we work from there.

Mavropanos is playing a great season at Stuttgart, by the way. As far as I know, he is still your player isn't he.

Re: The 20/21 Season
Both him and Saliba are doing well for a loan spell, they both deserve a chance. I don't believe current coach rate them though. The fact that Holding got a contract extension is beyond me, I can understand if fans overreact that way but man, a coach should never look at a patch of 10 games to evaluate player contract extension.

Re: The 20/21 Season
Arsenal are so boring and predictable with their slow paced passing, no movement, any chance of counter attack changes to passing the ball back to the CBs. I could predict the next pass before the player even got the ball and I would be right 70% of the time. No wonder Villareal could easily predict our movement and sprinted to close it down.
Why do we always go down the wings just to cross it to one player in the box? Why do we work the ball between winger and fullback and everyone else stands and watches? Why is our first instance to pass it back to the CBs who works the ball to the other side so slowly the opposition have ample time to slide over?
I could have copy/paste the match report from the previous leg and would still be right.
Arteta is done. Will not be here next season.

if Willock, Saliba and even Mavroponos balling out at their loan clubs is not an indicator of our core brokeness at our club, i don't know what is.

Tottenham in process of identifying their next manager and we may yet give Arteta further chance to start next season

Re: The 20/21 Season
Not surprised. Have a look at the people in charge and tell me there's anyone there who knows what they're doing.
Project overseen by American businessman Josh Kroenke who lets commercial guy Vinai handle daily operations who hands over all football matters to Edu with his two years of experience and Arteta the manager fresh out of school. And there's some American lawyer in there somewhere.
The only board director with experience at the club is a man named Lord Harris of Peckham who sold carpets for a living.
We're doomed.

Re: The 20/21 Season
I have a question.
Does anyone of you have ever seen Martin Ødegaard play worldy pass/through ball (taking defenders out of the game) leading to a chance since he has joined us? The ones like ozil/fabregas used to provide. Asking this as lately I feel like I am seeing denilson when I watch him ( just a good shot from long range rest just lateral passing. Is he worth the price tag put on him?

That's really the problem, as it seems to me too.
You have no leadership and competency at board level. These people don't actually have the political capital to fire a rookie manager, as he's got just as much legitimacy to be in the job as they have.
Even if that's next to none.

yea vs West Ham away he was literally MOTM, and in his first few games he looked lively and smart with his passes too. Our fanbase is just very reactionary. Im not saying he will be the answer, but we can at least try for another loan spell next season if we don't get someone else like Buendia

That's exactly it. The club realised post-Wenger they needed more football expertise at executive level but it's been a circus. Now they're back to square one where the manager of the team is basically overseeing the strategy of the whole football side of the club. Except instead of an expert in Wenger it's a rookie in Arteta.
Officially, Arteta's role is now first team manager, and not just head coach. The only reason that happened was because nobody on an executive level had the knowledge or, frankly, the balls to take on an active role. They give it to the only guy willing to do it.

Re: The 20/21 Season
Willock scored again today which means that he has more league goals than whole of our midfield (Partey, Xhaka, Elneny, Ceballos, ESR, Ødegaard) COMBINED.
Saliba, Guedouzi, Mavropanos all doing better suggest that we need a change of system/Manager.

Re: The 20/21 Season
Arteta is likely to be sacked if the season starts badly. Any shortlist would be similar to that of north London rivals Tottenham, with the likes of Rangnick and Benitez among the leading candidates and Rodgers a prime contender if he could be persuaded to leave Leicester.

Ridiculous really.
Could have just started a front 3 of Martinelli-Auba-Pepe against Villarreal

Tbh it's very easy to confuse Xhaka and Saka in a crowd, they sound awfully similar.

The difference between the way we played against West Brom and Villarreal was massive.
