Re: 2020/21 Premier League Discussion
Liverpool what a team.... Still dominating and pressing like none. its like they resumed where they left in the last season. They also got Thiago now. I don see Man city competing this team.
I feel sorry for Chelsea, such a stupid keeping by Kepa. it could be a draw too if Kepa and Jorginho did their job. They had their fair chances in the first half and could even take the lead on counter. I think they will improve. Watching Chelsea is atleast much better than Man Utd.

Re: 2020/21 Premier League Discussion
Man United had one of their worst matches in recent memory against Crystal Palace, but I think they’ve been more entertaining to watch than Chelsea in 2020.
Liverpool were supposed to implode this year. I read so in a GL thread. Sometimes, it doesn’t hurt to withold judgement. I suppose the kneejerking is deeply imbedded in our culture, at this point in time.

The real kneejerking has been with Chelsea. Most of their new signings are not playing and they lost with 10 men to the best team in the league. Why are people reacting like they flopped massively lol?

Re: 2020/21 Premier League Discussion
I completely agree M99.
Lampard was great for Chelsea last year and is basically a novice to coaching and only now just has received Abramovic's famous transfer kit to perform.
Some want Havertz to fail because he did not stay in dead end Leverkusen and some want Lampard to fail because he does actually have an exciting project at hand.
LFC are at the moment this good of a team that will embarrass top Premiership teams on their day let alone a team with 10 men.
Havertz was shit yet again and Werner did not look any better doesn't mean it will last.
Of course I prefer Chelsea to fail but they are not anywhere near as annoying as they used to be.

One thing I dont understand lately are these so called deep lying play maker types - Joginho, Rodri, Pjanic even now with Barca, they dont offer that much to justify their inclusion in the top teams. Not unless u provide enough defensively or offensively or the control of a game, which these guys dont. I mean its not the sole reason, but Pep having to move Fernandinho or Gundugan or David Silva around just to fit Rodri in is just puzzling to me for example...

Re: 2020/21 Premier League Discussion
I haven't really noticed much criticism towards Lampard. The butt of all manager jokes and criticism have been Ole and Mourinho. Lampard and Arteta seemed to be fan favorites on here before they even played a match. I suppose it's to be expected in Chelsea's case, though. They've outspent everyone else on players, and naturally that invites people to want to see them fail.

Re: 2020/21 Premier League Discussion
Pointing out the challenges Lampard will have and where he may have shortcomings as a manager isn't "wanting them to fail". Chelsea's signings are fantastic on an individual basis, but putting it all together into a cohesive unit is tough. They could have won yesterday and I'd still be saying that.
Because of pressing and high blocks.
When the backline is pressed, it pays off to have a player whose technique and positioning you can trust to keep the ball and move it forward. Moreover, it makes sense to have a playmaker behind a team's offensive options because he'll have more passes available to him.
The downside is funnelling play through a single pivot makes build-up play predictable so organised defences can either man mark him with their 10/striker or form a box around him to cut him out as a passing option entirely.

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Rui Patricio, Boly, Coady, Saiss, Traore, Neves, Joao Moutinho, Marcal, Daniel Podence, Jimenez, Pedro Neto. Subs: Silva, Vitinha, Ruddy, Ruben Vinagre, Dendoncker, Kilman, Rasmussen.
Man City: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Ake, Mendy, Fernandinho, Rodri, Foden, De Bruyne, Sterling, Gabriel Jesus. Subs: Steffen, Torres, Mahrez, Otamendi, Delap, Doyle, Bernabe.
Referee: Andre Marriner.
Will be a clear City win, this time around.

Typical GL, good half and Pep is the champ, but forget that his team cant defend. Wolves could have scored 3 already lol.

Re: 2020/21 Premier League Discussion
Too early for definite conclusions, but Man C seem pretty much the same, nothing to impressive or not good. Which means Liverpool seem to have the edge atm? I mean Wolves could have levels easily, and Man C resorted to keep ball and time wasting for this win in the end....

Man City still did look very sharp, crisp and good enough for the season. Only thing is whether teams will be able to exploit their defence over the course of the season.

Calma, nothing to do with half a match. A season passed where City came second place and everyone dismisses them. They'll be competing for the title.
