This just reinforces the idea that he is a puppeteer from behind the scenes, it doesn't help that PSG has a cabal of players dictating who gets to start and who doesn't. Man, i still remember that fiasco of Neymar and Cavani fighting over a spot-kick and Dani Alves intervening and pushing him away and Cavani trying to shove him off.
Its even worse than Benfica's mini-Akatsuki within their squad, at least the most they do is coordinate ambiguous social media sneers.
Messi sending whatsapp missives to Poch seems more and more like reality. This is why you need diversity in an organization, you've got South-Americans from players to the coach to the sporting director.
The Paredes-Wijnaldum situation, and now Donnarumma being lambasted behind the scenes. For all the problems in their squad, they're still leading the race, i think they're in for a mini-exodus next summer.

Whats the Paredes-Wijnaldum situation? Didnt know where are so many issues n infighting... geez, Leronardo needs to get a grip on these stars? But I guess its impossible, thats why they are stars @ a luxury club

It's a good pass but gotta praise Mbappe for actually getting at the end of it. Incredible accelerationHarmonica wrote:

the spin on that pass was magnifique
just enough so that it would hold up to the run and sit up nicely. Mbappe probably should have done better, maybe taken a controlling touch first whilst shielding the ball from the defender.

The way he even sees these passes is incredible, let alone playing them with perfect accuracy and speed.
I rate KDB as the best assister of the game right now but even he is not capable of this.

what
It's a nice, normal assist
countless players all over Europe are "capable of this" and do it every weekend

At his best Messi would produce these passes at a rate I've never seen anyone do. Sure there's several players who can pull off that ball once a month but there was a time when he was splurting 10 of them every game. It was ridiculous.

you anti-Messi/"Messi has drastically fallen off" crowd keep making fun of his overall stats and PSG's inadequacies (and perhaps rightfully so), but tell me which other player in world football makes all those type of passes at the rate he still does?

@EG even a Messi that can no longer dribble past players every time, can only score if barely marked and still has that GOAT passing skills is an elite player. The standard he set for himself is just too high.

It's not Messi vs others. it's Messi vs prime Messi. PSG pays that much to have Prime Messi. not 20% Messi.
although i 100% believe it is not Messi's fault. he just can't do it anymore because of his age.
on the other hand PSG directors are the ones who are stupid af.

From a financial standpoint, both the league and PSG have made an ENORMOUS amount of money from Messi's presence... so financially, it's been a huge win. That's not an argument.

I do not believe that.
if simply having Messi or Ronaldo had that much effect, every top club in europe would have wanted them. yet PSG and United aside nobody was really interested in them.
matter of fact Barcelona kicked Messi out just because of financial problems. they could have kept him if they wanted. he would have played for free imo.

no one in their right mind should still expect prime Messi, bro. I don't think even PSG expects that from him. They got him because they have the money to take the risk and because of his name, the brand and GOAT status, and to help them get over the line in the CL.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
No one expected Prime Messi as that would be foolish as he wasnt a particularly remarkable physical specimen for whatever he had in that stopped a while ago.
What was expected that he would at least be a difference maker to which he has not been, by any means. Below avg not just by his standards but by a starter of an elite team, as a whole.
Poch being a very unimaginative and rather out of his depth manager in Paris does not help but individually Missi is just not producing and just looks plain predictable.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club IV
I may be alone in this but i think most people did expect prime Messi. or PSG would not pay 41 million a year for him.
he was the best player in the world when PSG signed him. he won the Ballon dor for his performances.
so PSG didn't expect less than "the worlds best player" from Messi. nobody expected such fall from Messi.
when i say PSG were stupid i mean you do not bring another big ego attacker who is getting old and can't be benched and don't defend to your team when you have Neymar and Mbappe.

I don't think you appreciate the difference of stardom outside Europe between Messi and Ronaldo. As big as CR is, he's nowhere near Messi.
If you go to the PSG official store, you STILL can only buy Messi jerseys on pre-order. Most people have to wait 3 months right now lol. Been this way since he signed.
And Ligue 1 is being carried in 20 new countries and international viewership has gone up 73% for PSG since he signed.
The money side has absolutely not been an issue. Quite the opposite. It's the performance.
