Don't worry, United fans, next season you'll have Sancho Lingard bring that spark.

Europa League is a simple cup ; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, Sevilla win.

Just another example of how much of a scrub utility forward and GL fan favorite, Marcus Rashford is.

Nice jinx attempt. GL is getting more and more creative every day.Robespierre wrote:Europa League is a simple cup ; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, Sevilla win.
Was anyone bar Fernandes good today? I don't think all the blame can be put on Rashford for not being able to produce anything of note, although he did win the penalty for United.Thimmy wrote:Just another example of how much of a scrub utility forward and GL fan favorite, Marcus Rashford is.

I’m not saying he’s the main culprit, this was just another example of how underwhelming he can be. I’ll probably never rate his finishing ability, and when he fails at everything else as well, then there’s not much left for him to offer.
Quite a few people on here seemed baffled by my opinion that he’s just not that good. And he isn’t. He has his strengths, and he looks good when he’s allowed to showcase what he’s particularly good at, like running at full speed, but I just don’t think he’s top team material.
I sctually don’t think this was an uncharacteristically poor performance by Pogba’s own standards. He was alright.

Sevilla truly kings of Futbol's greatest tournament.
Inter or Shaktar in the final won't matter they will breeze past them too.
Thoroughly deserved win versus United.

Re: EL SF 2019/20 | Sevilla Vs Man United
For 10 minutes at the start of the second half, United steamrolled Sevilla. They forced several transition errors from a team who are usually strong playing out from the back. Even Banega was getting caught on the ball. Bono turned into Beto for a moment and played the game of his life to keep United out. Was an exhibition of one-on-one goalkeeping.
United must have used up a lot of energy after that burst because Sevilla were able to gradually reclaim control of the game and slow it down to their preferred tempo. They weren't very threatening themselves, but they were more comfortable at the back and not as sloppy in possession. Eventually, United were forcing it with constant through ball attempts while Sevilla waited for the chance to come.
Helped that United's defending on both goals was awful. One guy to mark in the box and somehow De Jong, who hasn't scored in months, ends up completely free. Wan Bissaka was very suspect. Maybe his inexperience was showing there. Same with Williams getting done by the only move Navas has in his arsenal.
One thing I've learned over the years is that Spanish teams are great at playing the long game in Europe. You've got to kill them before they can lower the tempo.
Also, Navas. Amazing performance at 34.

Quite a shame I had hoped that the final would be a GL superheavyweight classic between inter and United.

Yea. Absolutely. That's the reason why I personally have patience with what Solksjaer is trying to create. We are good like really good in short bursts and periods during a game these days, which is highly encouraging especially considering the core of the team is young. Ofc there's a long way to go in terms of consistency. But I do believe we are in the right track. The same couldnt have ever been said about us under the 3 dinosaurs before. That 'Heritage' game under Moaninho we were pathetic to say the very least. It was mind numbing stuff against a weaker Sevilla side that day. True he took us to a Europa league title which Ole has now failed to achieve but that was easily one of the luckiest title campaigns I have seen considering how many times teams let us off the hook.
Anyway yesterday, we were unlucky. Could have finished the game off way earlier. Martial missed like 3 chances he would have scored on another day, never mind the routine misses of Rashford. Even young Mason missed a 1v1. So, yea positives and Sevilla were I believe much cleverer and used their experience pretty well. So, fair enough. Confident going into next season, having said that though, if we dont do some deals, Ole will keep on not rotating the team and keep on running our first team players to the ground. So, it could very well turn out to be a disappointing season.
And btw Lindelof is crap.

Re: EL SF 2019/20 | Sevilla Vs Man United
I saw some #OleOut sentiment last night and thought it was crazy. Losing three semi-finals is disappointing, of course, but they were against good teams, and he got 4th place when for half a season it looked out of reach. He's honestly doing a decent job atm.
It's weird to say after I criticised their defending, but United's defence has been strong. The metrics look very good there so you can say the signings of Maguire and Wan-Bissaka, plus the improved work ethic of the team, has helped. Young players will make errors, hence AWB's role in both goals. I wouldn't read too much into that one game when the general trend over the season has been positive.
It was odd that OGS left his subs so late, but maybe that's a sign of poor bench strength. Ageing Mata, dreadfully out-of-form Lingard, and Ighalo don't make for good impact subs, usually. Obviously you guys wanted Sancho but maybe a centre forward is the answer now after Martial's lack of killer edge. Martial's come on leaps and bounds in his overall play but a top finisher converts at least one of the chances he got last night. You can always put Martial back on the left.
I'm looking at the profile of your mids and forwards and thinking you could do with a few less risk takers.
