Pierre-Emile Højbjerg Watch: The New Busquets
Altho apparently he hates to be called that it's sticking

After his promising Bayern career was derailed by the untimely passing of his father, he's now back in business and I'm sure Mou will turn him into even more of a proper bastard than he currently is.
What does GL make of him?

Re: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg Watch: The New Busquets
will be forever remembered for that Cup final 2014 performance vs Klopp's Dortmund.
Had only ever started at most a couple of unimportant games, Pep threw him in, out of position, to play right wing back, and he bossed it.

System player. Nothing special. Typical Mourinho midfielder. Will do well if given a role which is most likely to be 'disrupt play by any means necessary'.

Re: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg Watch: The New Busquets
I mean it's a great signing for Spurs. Have missed a DM ever since Wanyama since Dier became shit.
He's a decent player and Spurs needed someone at a relatively low price. He fits the billing and I think he's a player that could work for Mou. Him and Lo Celso in midfield is a technically decent duo, and they are both good tacklers with a decent workrate. It's a good duo to build a midfield around. Would love to see Ndombele get in there but who knows what will happen.
Takes Sissoko out of the team which is a positive. Although Sissoko has had some good years at Tottenham and been a contributor, he's just too much of a liability any time you approach the final third.
He's only 25 as well (about to be 26).
Whenever I've watched him I've thought him a good player, but never found him to be exceptional. So we'll see. It's a good signing though.

Re: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg Watch: The New Busquets
For providing Spurs with that much needed grit in the midfield that took their defense from la liga defending to least goals conceded (even with Dier or Sanchez still playing on most matches). For being an integral part of the build-up, racking up the most touches and passes in the league.
Reminds me of how Inter completely changed when Mou signed Sneijder and they turned from a solid side that lacked creativity to a well balanced team that won the triplete. He's having a similar (but inverse, since it's defensive) impact on Spurs.

Re: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg Watch: The New Busquets
Yeah he's been Spurs best signing so far.
It's not just the defense, either. He's a great passer and he really organized the transition from defense to midfield really well. Quite similar to Busquets in that way, actually. His positioning is great and he makes the right decisions.
A lot of credit to Tanguy, too. Tanguy isn't responsible for the defense though
