Atalanta have themselves to blame. They were handed a lifeline with Neymar and Mbappe finishing like Niang and Walcott and Icardi playing like Borriello and they decided to provinciale catenaccio after 1-0 up. Reminds me of Prandelli going for the 0-0 against Uruguay in 2014.

2 French teams and 0 Italians in the quarters...oof need some Ligue 1 fans to rile up the Serie Acers.

Forget energy they don't have the players or the discipline to do so. It's just what they never do.

Neymar can be so annoying. It's like whatever he learned at Barcelona was coached out of him. He takes 10 touches every time he gets the ball. He's constantly overplaying. Then again he contributed to both goals and had some awesome highlights today, but I feel it'll bite them back later in the competition.

With finishing like that, they will in no way beat the actual Simeone (assuming Atleti beats Leipzig).

Neymar, Mbappe and Icardi need to step up massively. Also wasn't impressed by their midfield.

They could have lowered their defensive line though. That would have retained more energy than how they were playing anyway. It was suicidal having midfielders press half-heartedly in the middle of the pitch and the defenders holding their line high. They should have sat back and soaked the pressure.

The alarms were all there, yet the coach did not take notice of them and kept keeping the high line. It was disastrous IMHO.

Seriously how could Gasperini not smell the danger when time after time PSG's wingers got in good positions. Sure, they weren't too central to be lethal but they were dangerous in those positions.

That's why Atalanta had to keep fouling PSG players because they had no answer to their pace. Keep it tight and low, so your opponents won't have much space to outpace you. Besides, you're already tired and you're still keeping a high line? WTF!

I'm really pissed off. I was hoping for a fairy tale fantasy, yet it became a complete anti-climax.

Atalanta are example of attack is best form of defence
They wouldnt even look comfortable sitting back against Sassuolo let alone vastly superior team like PSG
They just ran out of steam
Heart breaking the way it ended for them but still an amazing season

For me it's weird to think that Juve and Atalanta had less energies than French teams even though they don't have played for months
