Holloway got robbed. Won three rounds.
Main event was a snooze. Usman is great, but boring as f.

Struggling to see how Herb Dean still has a job given he basically is a sadist. Put down the pipe before you do your job.

Absolutely brilliant triangle lock sub by Craig btw.
Hoping for a Gus win to kickstart his comeback along with Till for the main event victory.

Gus loses to a 44 year old Werdum right after his comeback post retirement.
His confidence is at an all-time low. Never looked the same vs Jones then lost to a highly overrated Smith and now a 1st round armbar submission.
Would not be surprised if he retires again or tries again in heavyweight. Hang in there Gus.

Herb Dean is done. Should ref anymore. He’s dangerous and has been for years.
Gustafsson being the lone Swede losing. You would think he’s Danish.

And Nogueira beaten thrice in a row by Rua as it stands and a bitter end to his career.
Not the biggest fans of Brazilian contingent of fighters in UFC who are way too glorified but both are legends and I wish Nogueira the best in retirement.
Brilliant fight too.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
Only Brazilian I want to watch is Paolo Costa. Can’t wait for that Izzy fight. Hope he knocks that smug ass out
Also Danish mma needs a legit fighter. We got a fraud in Dalby and a Greco Roman wrestler who couldn’t knock out anybody, in any weight class with his pillow hands.
Can’t be real Sweden got Chimaev ffs. Dude looks like the next big thing. Dude carried his opponent across the ring like a child.

Very much agreed on Costa, on you on that one.
Having experienced MMA briefly in Aarhus its obvious the talent pool is huge just poor promotion and endeavour behind it. Definitely exists, the potential.
Will be hard to see how this fight plays out but Whitaker is the more complete fighter though Till is entering his prime and will have the advantage on striking, comparatively.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
Very interesting fight imo despite a cagey strategy as it was quite technical.
Till is a star and will only grow but he has to had more to his MMA beyond striking despite the latter being world class at it, in Muay Thai of course.
Whitaker is just the far smarter fighter and experienced in bigger fights. His strategy to keep Till at bay by neutralising Till's outer leg and then charging (recklessly) each time Till decided to set up a combo was brilliant.
Beyond one round and some clean shots the fight was clearly for Whitaker.
Till had a good fight but really much did not exist he could have done and more of it was Whitaker's strategy and patience just being extraordinary.
One of the fighters in the world, easily.

Till is a gatekeeper at this point. Still don’t think he won the Wonderboy fight.
So he’s got what. A win against Gastelum and Cowboy? A draw against Dalby
Needs to add a lot more to his game to ever become more than a gatekeeper

Don't think GSP can either. Think that'll be the last fight for him. Sad we couldn't see a fight with those two in their primes. They're clearly the two best I've seen in MMA.

made it look pretty easy, I want to see him fight GSP still, retirement announcements rarely hold in MMA.

He seems more genuine than others. I still want to see him vs Tony along with GSP. Conor vs Poirier is probably gonna be for the title now.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
Goodness that was embarrassing for Gaethje how easy Khabib made it look, who looked plain possessed through the match. Justin was gassed in the first round as Khabib's pressure is so relentless. People like this are nightmares to fight.
The fight of course was not interesting as Gaethje flopped and the emotional spectacle after was touching.
Its more a shame he is gone simply because he is just 32 which is not old for fighting at all.
And no chance he comes back. His reasonings were not wanting to be without his father and this his mother not wanting him to fight. We know why many "retire" and it is obvious this is not one of those feats. Huge shame and the 29-0 was not of tomato cans but of the best. Absolutely perfected his art and one of the all time greats of MMA, easily.

So happy for Dustin. Genuinely nice guy and worked hard to get where he is now.
Now they need to completely the trilogy between these two.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
Don’t need to see Conor get whooped again. He needs to actually beat a ranked guy which he hasn’t done forever. His last real win was in 2016 lol.
If he were to fight anyone again I’d want a Holloway fight. More of size advantage for McGregor in this one which would help.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
The problems here were obvious. Conor for some reason wants to keep transitioning into a boxer. He did not fight the way he does for a reason. His usual stance is a karate one which keeps him light on his foot. Last night he was front-footed and flat-footed and that did not help the mobility destroyed by the calf kicks. It was not a real chin knockout but if your leg is dead then you will fall down easier due to your leg given away.
He needs to change his team who are Yes men even Kavanaugh who did not point out the leg kick checks nor even ice it.
Stylistic loss.
If he makes those adjustments in the trilogy added with the fact that he actually gains more ring time since he has very little in four years it will be a different game.
Round 1 one was all his and he looked good in round 2 until his leg gave away.
