Re: General Games Discussion
The backward compatibility is neat, but like you said, the launch versions tend to have some flaws. Most of my friends who bought launch versions of PS2 and PS3 had issues with their consoles after a year’s time or so. Heating issues, processor slowing down, fans going crazy etc. PS4 launch versions had issues as well, which is why they stopped manufacturing the consoles in China.
Even the PS3 was backwards compatible initially, but they removed it due to launch version issues if I remember correctly. If it wasn’t for the fact that the second model is usually cheaper, better, and more stable then getting a console on release wouldn’t even be something to consider.

Re: General Games Discussion
still not sure what I'll do regarding PS5 myself
waiting on proper reveal and launh lineup, sure there's backward compat for a lot of games but unless there are PS5 exclusives the first year or two I may just wait
PS4 didnt have anything worth playing until like 15+ months after release, also dont want tech issues like the RROD or some shit
that said it's likely I get it day 1 lol.

No. Not worth the time for that little of amount.danyjr wrote:Are you selling your PS4 then?
Besides. I intend to just keep it as a secondary entertainment system for HBO & Netflix when I move to a bigger apartment at some point.
@Thimmy that’s true. I’ll probably slap a “rent a ps5” on the warranty if I buy in the first year.
Mine is from sep 2014 still going strong. Hopefully TLO2 doesnt brick it.

Valhalla if there’s no level gating.
Forget Deus Ex. Try Nioh instead.

Might as well transfer your backlog to PS5, RG. You tend to take your sweet time with finishing games, and RDR2 will probably take you half a year or longer to complete. Nier will be your biggest test of patience ever in gaming. Playing Yakuza games back to back, simply doesn’t happen - It causes burnout.

Speaking of Persona 5 Royal, the Okumura boss is a pain in the fucking ass.
This palace was the worst in the original by far and this is no different.

Yeah, that was my least favorite palace. I used one of the DLC personas for the boss battle. It made that fight pretty painless.

Re: General Games Discussion
lmao RG has enough games to last like 3 years, even if the PS5 has a weak launch
just finished Route B for Automata, game clicked for me halfway through my first playthrough, excited to get onto the new stuff in the third playthrough, really unique game

Re: General Games Discussion
I started really enjoying it after the desert area, i didn't replay it though.
I was fulfilled by it by the end and never really felt the need to go back.

You really should.
- Spoiler:
- The thing is while playthrough B is the same playthrough with 9S as the playable character, playthrough C takes place after A/B.
And it turns the whole narrative upside down. If you felt fulfilled by the story, you will be shocked at what happens. "Finishing" the game is actually the halfway point. Its not like other games where you only geta new cutscene or something. Playthrough A/B is basically the prologue for C.

Re: General Games Discussion
The first playthrough of Nier:Automata was pretty cheesy and unsatisfying, in my opinion. The whole scenario with those exhibitionist bosses was incredibly misleading and quite a contrast to how the game evolves through route C and beyond.

Should I play Automata, or wait for the remake of the first Nier coming this year?

I mean the first Nier has nothing to do with Automata.

Yeah, they’re entirely different stories, with different characters and no resemblance to each other, as far as I know. The first Nier is more of a classic JRPG, but with the creative twists and turns that the creator became known for through that game. I don’t even remember if the main character of the original Nier is male, female, or something in between.

They are in the same universe. Some characters do return in the sense of androids resembling them. But yeah, no major connections. It takes place thousands of year after the previous game's fourth ending.

Ah. I never completed the first one, so I had no clue. Nier was interesting, but I bought and played it shortly before I bought the next gen console, so I never got around to playing it all the way through.

I never did either, learnt all these in the internet.
Will pick up the remaster if its cheap. The gameplay is pretty bad apparently though the story is said to be as good.

Re: General Games Discussion
Yeah, the gameplay is nothing impressive. The story picks up a few hours in, though. I like the way that the creator approaches fantasy. It’s not too over the top, yet there’s an ever present sense of mystery that makes it more interesting, the more you play through the story. I’m not the biggest fantasy fan myself, so I appreciate when there’s not too much of it.

Just did it, turns out this is the most backwards boss fight in gaming history.
It's actually easiest to do on the hardest difficulty lmao.

He (the creator) made games with outstandingly bad gameplay in the PS2 era (drakengard). It's why I never played Nier. But the remake looks to improve a lot and Automata is well liked so I'm curious.
