the reason that the CCP jails their own doctors and journalists that speak out against a virus in their own country is that people "blame chinese eating habits"?
How in the world are you defending the chinese government?
Incredible that an american-japanese becomes a chinese nationalist.
For someone that claims to be so knowledgeable about race related issues you sure don't miss a single opportunity to be racist in the forum.
Im no fan of the CCP, and I am no chinese nationalist. in fact I am the most pro american on here by far. The fact remains that attacks on the CCP have been the guise sinophobes have used to attack Chinese culture and people.
To pretend otherwise is to simply be disingenuous.
Or, you know, don't associate your identity with the CCP? probably the best thing is to not tie attacks on a horrible dictatorship to your persona.
The only disingenuous person here is you. None of Baun, Arq, me, etc. have shown any sinophobia. Disliking the CCP should be something that shouldn't even need to be explained. Stop trying to make everything about racism, it just shows you can have no thoughts independent of the same tired issue.
If you feel like your identity is tied to the CCP, that's your thing. Don't put that on us.
I know you are giving it your best to make it so, but as hard as you try, you won't make us hate asian people

how the fuck does blaming eating habits become racist. Eating the wild animals that were kept in very poor conditions in china is what started this virus that's not racist that's a fact. Poor hygiene and sanitation in the wet market's are what started the virus and lies from the Chinese government is what spread the virus. Even now have they come out and said we made mistakes but we are really sorry.
How do you know what started this virus?
Aint shit been proving about its origins, and it wont be known months until we have developed a vaccine.

Unless we are speaking of Unique who is open against his disdain for Chinese eating habits then nowhere has their been any criticism towards the people who China who are not relevant to this conversation.
Strawmanning a debate yet again back to racism/xenophobia/discrimination is just not wise especially when you are cherrypicking things from the CCP whilst ignoring the countless atrocities the PRC commit on a yearly basis.
All of those go unanswered be it by you or China or the general American media as well who seem to be afraid of speaking against China as if it is taboo.
Total joke of a country as it is, China.

It was Chinese people crossing the land bridge from Asia that made up your ancestors mate . If you ever thought to hate Asians(which I never said you did) you'd be practicing self hate even greater than our friend the Boatperson, who claims his African ass is closer to the west than anything else while his countrymen literally blow themselves up outside our embassy the next week he said that.
Nobody is tying their identity to the CCP, but it goes hand and hand. Look through this very thread. The first attacks on the CCP included attacks on Chinese culture(the greatest culture this earth has ever seen) and Chinese cuisine. This is a direct attack on not only Chinese people, but those of us(including Venezuelans) who draw their ancestors to the people who came out of her bosom. We are all her children, and when you come for mother....well, her children must pick up their swords and go to work

If someone set out to brainwash a person and engineer a propaganda machine, they would be astonished to get someone as devoted as you as a result.
Just incredible.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread - Part 2
This is not even worth arguing it bemuses me how a Japanese-American hates his own kind so much yet resorts to defending China as if they aren't a total totalatarian shithole mess and without reason or response to all the humanitarian/wildlife/environmental atrocities they commit on a yearly basis and have for countless decades. And then calling it the greatest culture of all time. Fucking LOL
Unreal.
Unreal.

Anyone else feel like the Netherlands' and Belgium's situation has gone under the radar a little? 1,000 deaths in the Netherlands, 700 in Belgium. That's more deaths per capita than France. (Also more deaths per capita than Iran, but I'm not sure I take Iran's numbers as accurate).

Re: The Coronavirus Thread - Part 2
For records, Japanese are the most xenophobic, racist country out there. It's not even political but a cultural thing, very deeply routed. Among Asians, they hate the Chinese the most, did the most atrocities in any war against them because they thought they were subhumans. Most prominent one to this day is the Nanjing Massacre. All of the Japanese gouvernments to this day refused to accept the occurence of the crime, no apology in any form either.
That said I wouldn't treat Asians any different than other foreign etnicities. They have to learn from somewhere.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread - Part 2
Belgium is a tiny country with really high population density that is deeply connected to all its neighbours. There is no escaping this.
The government also took too long in enforcing the quarantine. For a while now we are on full lockdown, but it was late. At this point I would say the measures will be successful and are already showing effect. It's a shame the government "hesitated" to do it from the start.

Yeah, Japan gets away with things that would cause outrage in Europe or North America. I remember an article from several years ago how some beauty contest in Japan had caused controversy, because the winner was half-Japanese and half something else, I don't remember what, but she was slightly black. And some Japanese strongly opposed to having "Miss Japan" or whatever not fully Japanese. And I remember from the article that it's a common term to call such people in Japan "half". Like, imagine calling non-caucasian Americans "half-American". Apparently that's the norm in Japan.
And there are restaurants that say "no foreigners" on their door.
Nobody in the West seems to care about this side of Japan, though.

Everyone is racist. Â Racism is prevalent in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, UK, etc.
This is very much like the pot calling the kettle black.

Don't think Asians become mass shooters tbh.
Think they're more inclined to fight their battles online, or act them out dramatically wearing costum and pantomime
would be interested to hear if there ever was an Asian mass shooter

Take this somewhere else please.
Back to topic.
Reaching 1600 cases in India, we have a huge number of international transport hubs and the funniest part is that the human to human transfer are in tier 4 cities. smh
Hoping Italy keeps it within 5000 cases today as well.

I still wouldn't look at case numbers for most countries, since testing is still far behind actual numbers. But Italy's daily death toll looks to have stabilized somewhere between 750 and 950, so that offers some hope that the spread is slowing down.

Based on comments I’ve read from their politicians and health authorities, they declared that a lockdown is simply too taxing on the economy, and so they’ve chosen not to do so immediately, and instead observe the progress of the Norwegian lockdown, as well as their far more lenient restrictions on social gatherings and interactions.
The public isolation is real here. Feels like I’m in a zombie movie whenever I go outside, these days. I’ve haven’t seen more than 3 other people in the local grocery store at the same time. The center of the city looks like a ghost town.
