Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Arteta is like a press conference machine. So professional ffs. And a very direct, uncalculating, straight approach to answering questions.

Re: Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Arteta made all the right subs once we went down 10 men, we really should have won the game. Disappointed Pepe couldn't finish his chance, we did well not to lose or give them chances. In the past we have struggled once we have lost a player to red card.

Huge test for Arteta, need a big performance from entire squad. No more 45 performances, we need 90min performances.
I would go with Martinelli and drop Lacazette.

Re: Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Maitland-Niles plays a more conservative role under Arteta. He's there as an extra midfield in the build-up these days and his defending has been a lot better since Arteta has come in.
He's pedestrian on the ball, though. Gets caught a lot in possession or takes too long to shift it.
All the attackers struggled. Arteta wants them to use a 2-3-5 structure in attack where Pepe, Lacazette and Aubameyang stay high, but at the moment it's really dependent on getting the ball to Ozil and they couldn't do that enough today.

Ozil should play home matches only.

I noticed this as well. Alot of times, there is space in the middle and Ozil isnt taking up that space and it leaves us just going down the left. He needs to move more in those half spaces. And this is tactical, because it's something I thought Arteta would realise by now.
Pepe needs alot of time, he needs to be dropped for Martinelli.

Re: Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Arteta does realise, because this is what he's instructing Ozil to do. Remember what he said about providing the structure to get Ozil on the ball in the best areas.
Ozil is playing in the right half-space, in front of Torreira and near Pepe. He's not supposed to vacate that area because it disrupts the team's structure in possession. It's up to the five outfield players in charge playing-out from the back to move the ball out of defence and into Ozil, so he can connect with the three forwards.
Against Bournemouth, United and Chelsea, those guys were able to find Ozil on a regular basis, and his performances were good as a result. Today was more of a struggle. The one time they managed to do it resulted in a goal.

The no. of attempted passes (through the lines) to Ozil by Xhaka, torriera and Luiz etc were too few. Also Laca needs to find his finishing touch. After the rebound he hit straight to guaita chest while he was lying on the floor
The significant change that i noticed post arteta is that after the red card my primary insticnt was "Shit now we wont be able to win the match" whereas pre arteta it would have been "Shit we are going to lose the match for sure".
