He'll be a victim of the spineless, talentless squad he's inherited.

Arteta can try and bring discipline to the team and bench under-performers but he's throwing in kids who aren't good enough or ready instead. It's a terrible mix. If you do that you need results to back you up.

I mean, they need creativity and goals so he hooks off Pepe (who scored a great goal) and Lacazette and brings on Nelson and Nketiah? Yet leaves Martinelli on the bench?

This is what happened to Emery. Benched first teamers, didn't get the results to justify it and players lost respect.

Arteta as a captain was part of one of the most spineless Arsenal teams. He never was the man whom other players looked up to or could call any shots in the dressing room.

Fair play, he's gotten a reaction from this squad after the Brighton loss.

Dropped Guendouzi for behaviour issues, gave up on integrating Ozil, and switched to a 3-4-3 having realised his defenders aren't good enough to defend big spaces.

The football is a lot more defensive and cautious, but it's working. Just a single goal conceded in the last four games now.

His work with the defence in general has been very impressive, given the lack of talent he has to work with.
