Re: "The Next Messi" Where are they now?
For every Halilović and Bojan there is a de la Red and Ødegaard.
Re: "The Next Messi" Where are they now?
For every Deulofeu there is a Jese

Didn't De La Red retire because he had a heart condition

Even Messi's son won't be the next Messi. I'm fact he should change his name to Roccuzzo.

He won't be the next Thiago either

Seriously, fuck Mastour.
Never understood the sudden hype behind him given his quality mostly came from third party tournaments and anecdotal perspectives.
Comparisons to Ronaldinho I got given his sheer technical skill to which he does have and then came the one to Sneijder often due to his Inter background, which never made sense given what he lacks is any footballing IQ or understanding of the game, spent a lot of his way promoting himself via constant social media and tricks and basically has amounted to so little to nothing in his career (despite still 21) that I see nothing coming through with him given he is a street footballer and a very good one and it does not pain me to see that label not transcend into a pro-level athlete given too many are impressed by street freestylers, not knowing they majority of the time amount to f*ck all within the relevant part of the game.
Always was hilarious seeing the North American contingent of Milanisti who are famous for being convinced by any youth talent with skill, clamouring for his starts under Seedorf and roasting the Dutchman for when he never played a game for us. Gee I wonder why
This isn't the game for him.

How pathetic and low of you, to make fun of a person who quit because of Heart Problems...
hopefully multiple people in your family get the same heart condition as De La Red had...
that will teach you a great life lesson...

Re: "The Next Messi" Where are they now?
I still recall someone on here claiming Martin Ødegaard was a fraud and contrasting him to Mastour, who was supposedly the real deal - back when they were 18 and 19 respectively. I haven't seen Mastour play at all, but since some people seemed to back him up so confidently, I had assumed he would at least be playing for a decent club by now. I'm surprised to see he's not with a club, at all. Footballing IQ really tends to be the difference between the hyped-up youngsters who fulfill their potential to some degree, and those who fade into obscurity, regardless of their skill level. He's still very young, though.

People equate dribbling with the ability to play football... it's just one component. People look past how awful players are in other attributes because they're great dribblers.

Yeah, I guess a lot of people tend to be blinded by the entertainment value a player provides, and they overlook their overall capability.

Lamela has started the season strongly, btw, maybe he can finally find some consistency (and stay fit?).

Lmao this what I keep saying about isco, rm fans gets so caught up with his dribbling skills, he get away doing absolutely nothing all game long and still be considered elite player, hiding behind that next Iniesta tag.
while a player like James who is better than isco at all the important things was written off for not being a sweet dribbler, who cares about vision, timing, scoring and assisting, when you can spin in a circle, run from left to right horizontally going nowhere and kick wild shots instead of passing to your forward, and still be called the most talented/creative player
with vini and asensio are similar always trying to over dribble and taking on stupid shots in hopes of replacing cr, both went from trying to help the team to trying stand above them like cr, asensio immediately flopped and vini is heading in the same direction if he doesn't sort out his mentality soon.
too much next this and that argument just put stupid pressure that players won't be able to live up to, can do more harm than good and once in a generation talent aren't falling off trees.
