WHICH TWO TEAMS WILL PROGRESS ?
Re: Champions League 2019/20 | Group C
Shaktar with two terrible mistakes and Atalanta squandered both, could be the key moment tonight.

Muriel just got a yellow card for being fouled. Absurd refereeing decision.

Wait, Mendy is fit? Why did Angelino play against United?

Muriel is not made to start at this level. Without Ilicic and Zapata it's difficult to see Atalanta winning. They created enough chances to be winning this game but are missing that sharpness up front.

Re: Champions League 2019/20 | Group C
For once and I mean once, luck is going in Atalanta's favour and as a result its 0-1 Atalanta vs Shaktar after that VAR recall.
Atalanta should not collapse to absorb pressure but go for the second even if that did cost them last time vs Shaktar.

Dodo sent off after Frueler uses his hand slightly grazing his face to make it seem like an eye poke. Unfair on Dodo despite him being quite a complainer throughout the game. Odd that VAR does not exist for those instances.

Unthinkable is the perfect word given their shambolic start to the group with 0 points in the first two games.

Red to Dodo (english commentators pronounce it doodoo )
Finally luck is on Atalanta's side. Incredible that they may make the CL knockouts.

worse than that, 0 points in the first 3.
Until the 68 minute of the last matchday tonight, they were always bottom of the group.

Pasalic, who just seems to be impressive each time you view him seals the game pretty much with a slight touch off a free kick from the byline and makes it 0-2 in Ukraine in the formidable Donbass arena. A place where nearly all teams have struggled. Heartbreaking for the Ukrainians.

Yes you are right my bad. Truth is even in the City loss in San Siro they looked good as they have through all the matches so it also at the same time should be no surprise to see them go through given the collective quality.

Just so unexpected to see Atalanta coming into the always intimidating Donbass where results go for Donesk in Europe yearly and dominate them as they have. Gasperini prepares so beautifully for games like these with each player looking better than what they are and all without Ilicic and talisman of the season in a reborn Duvan Zapata.

Re: Champions League 2019/20 | Group C
Shaktar had only lost 1 game in Kharkiv all season, the one against City. The run up of home matches since them had them 20-3 in GS-GA.
Really nice from Atalanta to win here.

The sentiment is the same, just wanted to note they haven't played in the Donbass Arena for like 4 years. They had to move out of Donetsk since it was bombed during the war in Donbass. First to Kiev and then to Kharkiv. Now they are at Metalist arena.
Even weirder that this CL group has 2 teams playing away from their city: Atalanta (Milan) and Shaktar (Kharkiv)

Shaktar all decade if not more have just been constant European achievers in terms of going through even in the toughest of groups and it mostly began under former coach Lucescu. So frequent European stage viewers will know what an achievement this is, on that note.

That is true I was wondering today it looked different and the coincidence for both of them to be in the same situation is remarkable. Shame, the situation in Ukraine.

Re: Champions League 2019/20 | Group C
0-3 via a calamitous mistake from a clearly demotivated Shakhtar CB who heads it bad to the GK but Gosens swiftly intercepts and slots it past them to add salt to the wounds of Donetsk, who I repeat were heavy favourites today especially given Atalanta had to win to go through as a draw would put the Ukrainians through.
One of the best group comebacks I can remember.

The best team in Lombardy
The best team playing in San Siro
Lets remember that San Siro hasn't seen CL knockout football since 2013 and it is Atalanta that is bringing it back to it!

I'll be honest, I thought they would finish dead last in whatever group they finished in when they qualified for CL.
Good on them.
