2019/2020 Premier League Discussion: Chapter I

Re: 2019/2020 Premier League Discussion: Chapter I
So you're seeing in a shift. Top 4 in EPL will all compete hard in CL. So will PSG, Juve and Bayern. So with Barca, Madrid and Atleti, you now have 10 clubs that can legitimately beat each other.
A few years ago, there was literally a top 3 (madrid, barca and bayern) and then a step down for the next tier. That's gone forever imo.

Havent seen a more useless player play for United like ever. Legit feel he would be one of the main reasons to contribute in Ole's eventual sacking. Just like LvG and an impotent Rooney. Jose and Fellaini, now you got Solksjaer and JLingz.

He is more skilful than Alli. Alli isn't a great dribbler and nothing special on the ball but off the ball he is better than lingard can ever be.

It makes you wonder what Mourinho and Solskjær see in him bar a way to cover his own flank for their fullback deficiencies.
And like some stunningly average players he compensates for a huge off field/ice/court/rink presence with his social media presence to which sadly at that is even worse given Pogba and him make the most cringe pairing off field I have ever seen.
Smart though as it brings them to the map beyond what they are.

Mertesacker: “Some fans had probably been wishing for another Tony Adams [when I signed]. My name likely meant little to them. Robbie Savage wasn’t thrilled, ‘I don’t rate Mertesacker at all, he wasn’t convincing at Real Madrid’. Savage had confused me with Christoph Metzelder.” pic.twitter.com/GZketpk75Z

The problem here is that Alli is a system player, very limited imho. Lingard doesn't work in any system that doesn't have him on the bench.

I made it halfway through. A shit video, to be honest. Just Messi/Ronaldo questions. Wenger would have so much more to say about the game.

Dani Ceballos:
I’ve never seen anything like what I saw at Anfield; I haven’t seen a team that plays better, that presses like them, the way the fans carry them along. You spend so much time defending & when you want to catch your breath & get on the ball, they've taken it again
I am waiting what he says when Arsenal play City

I honestly got them mixed up, back when we were linked to both of them. We were linked to Mertesacker after Metzelder left, as well. I recall a friend of mine claiming they not only had similar names, but possessed a similar level of talent, as well

Arquitecto wrote:Lingard gives the impression of that player who is a coaches dream in the form of Mandzukic under Allegri on the left, Eto'o under Mourinho in the Champions League final or just a general sacrificial but tactical advancement outlet just because of his high work rate and close to zero skill on the ball but the absurd thing is his footballing IQ and off-ball movement is just as bad.

Welbeck under SAF really reminds me of this. Especially his performance vs Real Madrid in the CL, don't recall the year. He was a "young talent" back then.
Really wonderful performance though and SAF being the magnificent manager he is utilized Welbeck to his full potential. Far better player with SAF than he's been since.
